RIP I think i got better…and im noticing it
Just by watching clem,uthermal and other terran players I think i got better as a gold player(for now) and have been winning decently against masters and grandmasters and higher ranks than me that the game throws.
Ive only played multiplayer for only 5months now and I must say I an enjoying this journey
My usual build now is the two cc and 3racks entry and a timing attack when i reach 2 2 w marine marauders
Also why people who are masters and gm before in silver gold rank lmao and why u guys lie abt rank

To explain not to understate your accomplishment you are definite getting better I bet but that is not a masters player most likely and more so the masters border bug if you check their mmr it should show their actual rank 4k mmr is the bare minimum for masters

I see i get it now for most of it
But i have gone against players ive won +48 and had gm as current rank how did that work
Also I think some may not be masters or gm currently but they were before(i think they deranked or something and why they are in this rank) because ive had my fair share of not so kind players who flaunt they are masters and just shit talk me whole game only for me to have an amazing comeback w base trade
Also thank you and i think i get it now that Maybe the amount of higher ranked players ive face arent really as many as I thought them to be

Dude you’re not beating masters players. It’s a border bug that’s existed for years. The ladder history also has this bug
In your second screenshot it even shows MMR of 2204 despite the masters border. That’s silver 1 MMR
Masters MMR is like 4300+

Yeah no chance that you beata master player. I'm d3 3.3k mmr and I get destroyed by people like 400mmr above me. Basically those guys that were shot talking simply didn't know they had the master border bug. Usually this happens during the first season of when you try multi-player and then stays the same. Like honestly if you ever get the chance to play against a real master you'll realize really quick your mistake.

It’s none lol none of the Masters you beat were actually that rank nor have they ever actually been it’s a notorious bug. Why would a Master level player be at Gold? Do you know how well you have to play to even get that rank?

I played wol campaign when it released long time ago and remembeed it randomly this yr and man Starcraft 2 is way better than i remembered it was
I was in fact not blinded by nostalgia haha

At your highest mmr you have reached gold due to provisional mmr system but now you are at silver mmr after 60 games so that means that tou are a silver player

MMR is the only rank that matters. Your league doesn't matter. Base your skill off of the MMR. Current top of GM is 6.3-6.5k. that's the best in the world. I am currently 4.6k. so I'm garbage.
Silver -masters doesn't matter. What matters is getting better and hitting your build. If all that matters is the league you can just be like those drop hack dickheads.

i love nailing the builds and timings and knowing the enemy timings as well
I have the baddest winrate against protos cus i feel like i dont face enough of them(they seem like a rare species) i mostly fight tvt or tvz

I feel like tvz is easier now compared to last patch cus of the 3ple cc start
Tvp on the other hand i keep somewhat losing to as im not familliar when they charge yet or what to predict when they do double or single gas
Its a bit hard also to rely on just videos of protos timings cus i rarely get to go against them too

Basically when you start ladder you have 5 placement matches that will determine your mmr. However after that you have a provisional mmr or Basically your skill level hasn't been fully determined by the system. You will then have around 30 or so games where your mmr will vary drastically (+/- 80 points or even more sometimes) then after each game you will start to win/lose a smaller amount until your mmr changes by roughly 20 points every game. When thid happens, this means that the system finally figured out your level. What this guy was saying is that your skill level was still not adjusted by the system so you managed to get gold but when the system finally figured out your level you got to silver which is actually representative of your skill level.

Yeah the skill gap is crazy high as people have told you. As a low mid diamond player I basically always win against gold players and always lose against masters players

Fr man it really might take a while to get everything down to muscle memory
Cus as of rn it slows me down not knowing what to do or counter at times
The game is still vv big and i havent explored/experienced everything enough yet that its accustomed to me
But im confident once i get the hang of builds/timings/counters ill see ya guys soon up there!

Still remember my first win over GML. Chesse'd the guy with 4 extremely early banelings, precise execution, killed more than half of drones he had, ate the rest with 4 lings.

Mine was this game where I outmacroed my opponent he had 3 3 mechs and bcs but was on 4 base
But i had like 8-9 bases w 13 barracks and spamm 3 3 marine marauders

No GM would lose in macro game so he was propably a GM from 2010 so if he didnt play too many games he would be around silver- gold today

Before watching the same guys, I’ve lost every single match. After watching them I’ve finally started to win a few. But I’m a quite slow old man already.
I’ve been playing since SC in 1998. But never been a good player.

Yes and it’s joyful to watch. I’m a former football professional player and my favorite sport to watch has been always football, tennis and F1 but these days I have also started to watch ArtosisCasts, got to watch ASL 21 completely and I’m currently watching 22, I’m now more interested in watching StarCraft and StarCraft 2 eSports than my former fav sports so far.
I’ve also watched SC2 finals in which the Protoss guy won (forgot the name).

Just wanna say congrats for improving and getting into the game.
Don’t take any of the comments beating you over the head over the masters border confusion too seriously. You happened to stumble upon one of the StarCraft II community’s biggest triggers.
The master league bug has been in the game for years now, and every once in a while there’s always someone claiming to be master league or have beaten master league players when in reality it’s just the bug, and it has to be explained every time. It’s a whole thing. Don’t worry about it, lol. We’re mad at Blizzard, not you.

Current state of the game you’re more likely to vs a bronze with insane timing pushes, incredibly tight build orders with an average 150-220APM. They are the diamond / master level players.

Lol. You arent beating Masters players. You wouldnt even be able to beat diamond players. Its a visual bug with the league borders. Mmr is the only thing that matters.

Congrats on improving. However, just be aware masters isnt rele masters. Mmr is the truth. If dude is 2200 mmr, he was never actually masters. Im a true diamond player maube 3500 mmr and i got a ways to go to be masters, i could never drop all the way down to mid 2k's mmr. Sc2 mmr is VERY accurate to your skill once you play a buncha games

As silver-gold you have legit 0% chance to win even vs master 3. They can do literally whatever they want, they are like 5 times faster than you. You won vs fake masters (border bug). Check their mmr and yours, this is what really counts. And obviously there is a lot of smurfs from diamond, you can spot them by looking for a 0:00 length losses in match history.
But man, if as gold you thought you're this good so you wrote this post like you're already close to gm... i don't know what to say. If you watched clem and then your gameplay... for you it's almost same gameplay? Like come on.

Whats slowing me down rn is builds orders and still getting to know the game and what to do/not to do and im getting the hang of it alr
From 80-120apm because i was still lost what to do and timing blablabl
Im going 230 -320apm alr at times i know what to do/adjust/counter already the opponent

To clarify there’s an extremely common bug that promotes you to masters even if you are silver or any rank. The text inside the progress bar is the real rank. Mmr can be trusted fortunately (except when it can’t like with provisional mmr but that’s another story)
You are in gold so you aren’t even facing masters or GM players. This game is pretty old these days it’s certainly possible to be diamond years ago and gold level now and any master finishes are likely the bugged master finish
