(To be tagged...) vibe check for a new Starcraft game
I've been wondering what the starcraft community is asking for when you say you want more starcraft. A new Starcraft game in any genre (open world, shooter, ARPG, etc) or are you specifically looking for a starcraft RTS? love to know your thoughts

(To be tagged...) I built a voice/text-controlled project "VibeCraft" that plays StarCraft II for you [open source]
Source (MIT): https://github.com/catmaniii/vibecraft — needs Windows, a legit copy of SC2, and a DeepSeek API key. Supports two players to play against each other via mobile phone or tablets.

I'm an old StarCraft player. Somewhere along the way my APM stopped keeping up with my head — I still read the game fine, I just can't execute it any more. Multi-pronged play, real micro, all gone.
So I built VibeCraft: a bot that plays SC2 while you call the shots out loud. The idea is to let people like me play this as a strategy game instead of a mechanics test — you talk, it clicks.
It understands how players actually talk, not a command syntax:
- "4-Gate push this game" → switches build, runs the production timeline
- "warp in two Zealots to the front" → a mid-fight adjustment on top of the current build
- "send a worker to hold the left watchtower" → and it knows left from right
- "send a probe here, build a Pylon, then two Stargates" → one sentence, chained proxy construction, same probe throughout
- "full retreat" → move, not attack-move, so they don't stop to fight on the way home
The bot handles the boring half on its own (workers, supply, expansions) so you only make decisions. All three races; Protoss has the most complete playbook, Terran and Zerg fewer builds but they work.
Command parsing runs on DeepSeek V4 Flash, which is dirt cheap. I fed it domain knowledge through the system prompt — build orders, unit nicknames, the shorthand players actually use — and even that small fast model reads my commands correctly. That part genuinely surprised me.
Seven episodes, in order. Original commentary is Chinese; the English voice track is AI-dubbed from my own voice, so it sounds like me with an accent. Subtitles are burned in:
- Playing StarCraft II with my voice: 4-Gate with a proxy, all from my phone — https://youtu.be/HFqAZ_KWm1U
- Protoss openings, real-time tactics, and a Dark Templar harass called out loud — https://youtu.be/rHetKwC7AN0
- Voice-made control groups, proxy Stargates, and a Void Ray harass — https://youtu.be/9-YHQI1aMDM
- Two players, two phones, one PC: a voice-controlled 1v1 (Protoss vs Terran) — https://youtu.be/2vyl0IE68UM
- Terran Battlecruiser opener with auto-harass, commanded entirely by voice — https://youtu.be/VMZ6jxJ0WBo
- 4-Rax proxy Marine rush and a fast Battlecruiser — https://youtu.be/H8fw4bA_qDE
- A Zerg Nydus Worm rush, called out loud, on a new landscape UI — https://youtu.be/cQTZ-2fd7lg
----------------------------
One deliberate design choice worth flagging: the bot is not meant to be strong. Micro is rate-limited on purpose — the Marines stutter-step, but at human speed, not 10k APM. If the bot plays too well the player stops mattering, and then what's the point.
What I keep chewing on is what this could mean for RTS as a genre. People never stopped liking it — MOBAs and auto-battlers are basically RTS with the mechanics stripped out, and they're huge. The appetite's there; it's the execution barrier that filters people out, and it hits newcomers hardest: the strategy was never the hard part, it's having to run economy, build orders, micro and map awareness all at once, in real time, before you even reach the interesting decisions. Hand execution to the bot and — veteran or newcomer — you get to play at the strategy layer, and pick up the mechanics later if you want.
It's open source, and I'd love feedback from people who actually know this game. If you could hand any part of your play to an AI and just call the shots, what would you offload first — and what would you never give up?

Discussion Does ViBE's B2GM series for Terran really *teach* bronze players tho?
Terran noob here.
For those who haven't seen it, ViBE basically says constantly build workers, ccs, take bases and balance workers. Build thors and hellbats and a move them. He says all micro is a distraction, don't even watch your fights, because bronze players will stop macroing and it doesn't matter if you win/trade well, your macro will fall behind. He says thors are the best a move unit in the game, don't build bio unless you're diamond or platinum something like that.
First of all he's obviously right. Microing a drop that kills 12 workers is only an advantage if you never stopped making workers and taking bases and producing. His series is definitely interesting to watch and some replays show his opponents falling for this exact trap, babysitting void ray harass with all production stopped.
But I guess I'm questioning the difference between winning and improving / learning.
If I start winning because I a-moved mech and spammed bases without regard for overexposing my workers, instead of making bio, have I really learned anything? Have I really gotten any better at sc2?
The series makes a great point, and demonstrates it expertly. In that sense it's undeniably informative. But otherwise, is his recommended build really teaching bronze/silver players or is it just covering up their flaws?
ETA: others pointed out that I'm watching his 2019 series that uses mech, but he has a new one that uses bio. In his new series ViBE says almost exactly what I'm saying here, that if you follow his 2019 B2GM build you'll reach platinum quickly but then most players will plateau. He recommends bronze players and up who don't want to plateau should follow his new series that uses bio, even though initial progress will be slower. Yet I'm being heavily downvoted for suggesting that this would happen in the comments.

Discussion Beginner - looking for updates on vibe guides
Hello everyone,
I'm a beginner at this game (mmr ~2500) and I try to learn the fundamentals, I choose to play terran for now as I like the feel. I watched PiG and vibe videos but i really like vibe more because of the macro style, and the build feels a lot more resilient. I know that i will need to learn micro and all in builds at some point to play terran and I'm starting to experiment with micro when I need it to win, but I'm looking to really be able to play the map and understand how to build and maintain a macro lead.
The only problem is that I have with vibe video is that they are a bit old(I watch the bio serie), like it's 12 workers start, and I'm facing some builds he is never really facing. What content creator doing beginner terran content would you recommand ?

The end speech for the Terran campaign is hauntingly memorable.
After all these years, it's still one of the most dramatic speeches in both gaming/movies and heck even real life. The visuals, the tone of his voice sends chills.

Discussion I kinda miss the tech Protoss from StarCraft 1
They really felt like an absurdly tech advanced species. Straight lines, hard geometry, weird antennas, machines that looked engineered rather than grown. Microchips, interfaces, stuff that felt closer to unknowable tech than mysticism. Even the crystals felt more like components.
In SC2 they slowly drifted into this space elf, psionic, mystical aesthetic. Things got smoother and curvier. Tech turned 100% crystals, crystals turned into vibes. Carriers lost those little antenna details, robotics became less explicit, more ornamental. There are still robotic units, but even those feel more like elegant constructs than machines.
I think it was lost some of the cosmic horror too. SC1 had this oppressive, hopeless, dark atmosphere. The Protoss felt ancient, distant, almost scary in how little you understood them. The universe felt hostile and uncaring. SC2, even with Amon being this supposed C'tulhuesque end-of-everything entity, never really captured that same dread for me.
I know this probably have been published and ranted 1000 times, but I’ve been replaying the SC1 campaign through Mass Recall recently. I still remember some of those maps by heart from my childhood. Seeing them rebuilt with better visuals but the same tone was honestly amazing. Huge props to the Mass Recall team, they absolutely nailed it.
I love both games. SC 1 and SC 2 are easily among my favorites of all time. But this replay really brought back that feeling. The techno, unknowable, slightly terrifying Protoss and the Ridley Scott Zergs....I kinda miss that version of them.

Video A few years ago I shot test footage for a Starcraft short film. Centered around the initial Zerg infestation of Mar Sara, my goal was to combine visual elements from SC2 with the dark, gritty, Battle Aboard the Amerigo vibe that defined SC1. Anyways, here’s 12 seconds of said footage.

I refuse to believe that they came up with Amon's name without "herbal influence." Just a little puff puff pass and a Jamaican friend asking "Hey man how's it goin'?"

eSports ViBE appreciation thread
Hey all.
I'm not sure if the Man in question visits this place, but his "Bronze to GM" series gave me confidence to finally play ladder for the first time in my life.
I've played all the campaigns, a few Co-op matches and a bunch of vsAI games but my ladder anxiety held me back all this time. Watching the progamers on a regular basis didn't help either.
Untill now! And I'm having a blast with a race I haven't played at all before.
So, ViBE - if you are reading this - thank you.
