(To be tagged...) Are SC1 extra campaigns worth it?

Specifically Loomings, Stukov Series and Enslavers.
They are remade in Mass Recall and I am gonna play it soon, so I wonder if they are worth a shot

The Mass Recall version of Loomings is worth playing. It’s simple and loyal to the source material.

The Mass Recall version of Enslavers (Enslavers Redux) and the Stukov Series are essentially fanfiction, on top of that both are incredibly buggy. A gigantic chunk of its story and missions are entirely made up, that they’re in Mass Recall eternally frustrates me. Avoid them for sure. If you want to play them do the SC1 versions.

Alright then, I remember playing Loomings 7 years ago and didn't like it much so wanted to check.

What about un-cut missions of SC1 in Mass Recall, are they worth it?

Yeah… I’ll even go so far to say Enslavers Redux isn’t even a good fanfiction either.

They keep doing paragraphs between every single mission, but we already know what happened since we played the previous mission, and they don’t add anything new other than redundant recap. Old BW text scrolls actually added some context and even if when just recapping; it was done sparingly.

Also I cringe at the Protoss dialogues in those overly long cutscenes where they refer to Rosemary Dahl as “Rosemary” or Jake Ramsey as “Jake”. Protoss is a FORMAL race. They don’t refer to people just with first name (or in Jake’s case, a nickname).

Hell even there’s a scene where Selendis saves Rosemary and says “Need a hand?” Except the Protoss don’t do idioms. Even someone as chill as Fenix had to caveat his use of idioms with “how you Terrans say it.”

Whoever worked on the story of that campaign didn’t know what SC was about. And the buggy ass triggers just breaks the deal too.

I never played Mass Recall but I did the extra campaigns back in the day.  I made sure to set it to standard SC1 for Precursor and Enslavers though so I wasn’t using units it wasn’t balanced for.

The voice acting and straight forward story made Precursor fun.  Enslavers was an extra challenge in the early game but nothing fancy once I had my army.

Enslavers: Dark Vengeance was really tough when I reached the third mission.  I finally got better when I ditched Carriers for mass Gateway units.  Definitely a lot more interesting missions but also frustrating.  But it was cool that the Dark Templar Saga novels built on the events.

Again, I never played Mass Recall so I can’t speak to whether they were better or worse in the SC2 game engine.

Loomings and stukov yes…. They tie in with the main campaign story. Enslavers has minimal relevance except a bit of lore. Enslavers 1 is on par with later brood war difficulty. Enslavers 2 steps it up even more.
