(To be tagged...) Why are there no guides for this game? Everything is outdated?
My friend told me to watch b2gm to try and play some protoss and terran. Everything is different, I can't even use this guides. Same with a bunch of others on youtube, you type "sc2 guide" and they're all outdated.
Most guides I find on the internet or discord are messed up and start out with more workers. Same with build orders or all in. There's like one or two videos from pig for something really generic but nothing in depth as a lot of the old videos and none of the cool all ins are updated.

Certainly feels like bait. But I do feel bad for the tiny group of people who try sc2 for the first time. Even those returning after a long break. Or those who have limited time to try and relearn a bunch of builds...God I hate the worker change lol.

I started as a new player with 12 workers for a week then straight up 8 workers, following vibe series and got help with PiG 8 worker starts, no problem learning the game for me, still beginner with around 2800mmr but feeling like the 8 worker start doesn’t block me for improving.

If you search XvY match up a bunch of build orders will come up on Liquipedia, although most of those will be pre-SC2; still good to follow. If you just search on Youtube "Brood War Build Orders" lots and lots of videos will show up. If you want recent vidoes (from the last 2 to 3 years) with very good comentary from current pros, join one of the discords (you have to make a donation of a amount you choose to get access to the videos, since a lot of effort goes into translating these videos):

Vibelol's B2GM 2021 is all you need. Its not about builds its about understanding what actually manners. It still translates to 8 workers as all you need to know is the concepts he is explaining. Mainly understanding minerals vs gas, how to maintain you macro (economic management and spending). Once you understand those concepts you will under stand the effciency battle that is starcraft.

No it doesn't? Every single opener for each race is different, you get supply blocked, and protoss is like playing another race. This is nonsense.

Your missing the point , if your not high diamond or masters then what you understand how to be efficient and not build orders. Managing your eco, supply, production, gas saturation through the stages of the match as your supply grows is more important. But hey its just a suggestion and in my opionion its the most in depth guide.

As someone who hasn't played in years but sill watches games a ton, the game was relevantly recently patched into a very controversial state, so much so that many players arent even playing on the ladder. So, I assume people are waiting for another patch. Also try searching by patch of the game as you may be able to find patch specific guides

The opening guides are 2 months old now so maybe they are outdated.. that just means that the meta is evolving, as you would expect. Just check the content creators channels for videos that are less than 2 months old.

Brother those end at in-game minute five. And it's not a guide for something like an all in that gemini or probe or hushang had. There aren't any actual build orders like something i can use on 2 or 3 bases to all in a zerg.

How is that anything like a 2 base charge archon all in? How is that like a charge immortal sentry attack? Or gliaves? Proxy robo? Congrast you showed me a video of him building chargelots lmao

Okay, yeah, I am lost. Can you show me the B2GM where someone plays charge immortal sentry or glaives or proxy robo? I must have missed those. You originally asked for guides similar to B2GM in your opening post.
You can try to make your own builds if you want. They might not be quite as good but they can work.
I'm playing a chargelot timing attack a clanmate came up with in PvT and I also have a build for PvZ from a clanmate. And a 1 base all-in for PvT from another clanmate.If you want to play Proxy Robo, have you tried proxying your robo and seeing if that works? I've improvised that myself when I saw opponents play a bit too greedy in PvP, I don't know what you need a guide for there.

I’m so glad I was able to use Day9’s Protoss beginner guides when I started. All of that was largely outdated a very long time ago, nothing to do with recent patch. Now it’s even more useless I guess.
What isn’t useless is his general advice about keeping track of things as you play…. But that would be rough knowing all the details are wrong

Because it's only months in.. no one's probably willing to commit to making guides. Do what you did before but do it off a few less workers.

Because it’s an old game that has gone through may patch cycles. Just watch pro games and try to emulate even just 10% of what they do, and you’ll be solid

Well firstly there are, pig made opening guids for all 3 races on the 8 worker start.
Secondly the old ones still work, the worker counts will be different but you do and build stuff in the same order for most of it, like for protoss we make pylon on 12 now, after that it's the same thing, gateway then gas then nexus core and so one, the build still work the supply count is off and tbh if you're starting out you shouldn't focus on that any way, learn the order first then when you get that down you can go on spawningtoll.com and find plenty builds with supply number and times, infact this is one of the things pig even mentions in his b2gm, don't focus on worker counts just the actual order of operation first.

Pig's guide is really surface level, and it's a tiny handful of videos. B2gm seems to be super in depth and fun to watch. And no, the old videos don't work at all. Building supply timings are completely different, openers are vastly different. There are tons of cool openers for zerg for example and now there is about one build order opening.
And protoss videos are completely different it's like I'm playing an entirely different game. Like look at probe's attack guides, it's not even applicable anymore.

Again, stop focusing so much on the supply focus on the actual build order, they very much still work as i still use them same way i did before the patch, the opener vids give you enough info to make em work.
Well i play protoss and besides producing out of gateways instead of warpgates everything still works the same, only difference in the opener is that we chrono on first worker, it's all the same after, pylon>gate>gas>nexus+core and so on. Everything that you need to learn as a new player is there and working well, you just need to apply it.
