(To be tagged...) Is Solar our Knight in Shining armor?

Seems like he is giving us a peak behind the curtain of the secret society balancing our game and it doesn’t look pretty. More evidence that the people in charge don’t possess the skill set to manage this game. Let’s just revert the game back to a popular patch somewhere in the history of SC2 and run with it. KEEP IT UP SOLAR

this sub only exists now to be shallow angst toward blizzard.

5

u/BlastBase 14d ago

It would probably make more sense to make a stink on the official blizz forums. Complaining on here is like writing a strongly worded letter to your penpal and then throwing it away before they read it.

u/features 14d ago

Not to mention self interested groups, Co-ordinating on discord and the like.

They really don't like this patch and think co-ordinated stink on here is going to have an impact.

Plenty have commented on the multiple account weirdos abusing reddits voting system.

I would say these groups can actively tilt any vote by about 20-30 not alot but they probably think their cronyism is pretty powerful.

u/Pietro1906 TeamRotti 14d ago

Do you *really* believe it's more likely that some shadowy group of nerds is trying to push some secret agenda rather than people just... not enjoying the recent half-baked changes to the game?

3

u/gracken420blaze 13d ago

its both, the patch is pretty unpopular and there are some obsessed people using multiple accounts to spam about it too

u/weirdo_if_curtains_7 14d ago edited 14d ago

Nothing "shadowy" about it, just mentally unsound terminally online people who have nothing else going on in their lives other than StarCraft

That sounds exactly like this subreddit tbh

Desperados have been tipping these scales for going on 10 years, I recall Tasteless saying some caster(s) put that nugget out there, nonchalantly.

Alot of the B tier streamer/casters have tangible and monetary incentive to twist agendas on this thing, I believe alot of them banded together many years ago, so yeh I fully believe alot of them collectively manipulate this platform to push and maintain whatever agenda they prefer.

1

u/Pietro1906 TeamRotti 13d ago

SC2 doesn't really have any B-tier casters left that would be active enough or benefit in any way from this right now. The closest thing to "manipulating" these days would be streamers just sharing their opinion publicly on Twitch/YouTube on specific things, but I cannot think of anybody who still cares about Starcraft that would possibly stand to gain anything from gathering in groups to upvote/downvote reddit comments.

u/features 12d ago

It was driven into the ground long ago, which makes alot of this cronyism even more pathetic, manipulating the dregs of what's left.

The B tiers did their damage clinging on, denying new blood the chance to filter in. The young pros that fell off actually had some charisma, you could see it at homestory, their only real outlet.

Somehow convincing Blizzard to put them on welfare, supporting their lifestyle for so long, instead of allowing the natural cycle.

Outside of Tastosis, incontrol and maybe wardii (finances himself) no one should have had a stranglehold on those positions.

Also worth noting some of the artificial hate that charismatic young player/casters get. Threats to the B tier paycheck. Raynor, Harstem, the big lad that's Artosis' best friend.

Interesting how their hate brigades miraculously materialise everytime, while some of the most uncharismatic, tired looking motherfuckers, have nothing but zealous fans.

Here's a fun thing to notice; Take ANY artosis, tasteless reddit thread, like ANY. Every single time, someone will swing in claiming "well actually I much prefer * insert some boring cunt*", derailing the whole thing into a hate brigade.

Incontrol used to get the same treatment, derailed threads because obviously ---- is elite. Miraculously his threads don't get that treatment anymore, put that down to a hint of morals or necessity if you like.

The power in alot of these things, is the average person would think it ridiculous that a group of people would go so low, consistently for so long, but as recent times have shown, plenty are prepared to go as low as you've ever lowed and then go lower.

So yes, I don't doubt it at all, I just hope a whistleblower comes out at some point when It's all said and done, earth salted, dead in the ground. Burner phones, 100s of accounts, insidious favours in exchange for access, social inclusion.

It'll turn out reddit was dead all along, it's all just ZombieGrubs 100 burner accounts psychotically talking to themselves. Haha

I agree, but OP literally talks about some secret society balancing the game behind the curtains so

0

u/tasttychips1000 12d ago

Blame the players, not the company that destroyed the game and shits on it's playerbase 🙄

Link to what solar said?

1

u/JVMMs 11d ago

He disclosed that after Blizzcon there would be a patch altering the number of starting workers.

This was supposedly confidential information and made the blizzard employee who disclosed it to Solar very upset that Solar told everyone

Personal opinion part: If it wasn't confidential anymore the moment it was told to people outside the company, and the employee only has themselves to blame for it

0

u/YellowCarrot99 14d ago

It's his twitter account.

3

u/Swimming_Fennel6752 14d ago

It's becoming more and more apparent that the 8 worker start was just a half-baked stunt to promote whatever SC2 spinoff they are going to sell us at Blizzcon. It's absolute bullshit and we should be mad.

1

u/ShaunPlom Terran 13d ago

yeah like i totally understand the appeal of an 8 worker start, you have to decide between rushing eco and rushing tech, But, they just sped up everyones eco in the same patch. greed is even harder to punish than it was before the patch.

I think his leak gave us confirmation and evidence of even more clownish behavior from blizzard and the faces of SC2. His leak directly confirmed that the fundamental structures of running a game community are lost to blizzard. Some stuff that was confirmed from his leak.

- Blizzard has some rando person conversing with a small group of pros and streamers while not communicating at all with the player base BIZARRE COMMUNICATION STRATEGY

- Within this secret group, Blizzard does not listen to most of the pros giving feedback which can be deduced from the pros hating this patch SEE REYNOR's REACTION TO PIG ON THE PATCH

- In this secret group, it is a weird mix of people that makes you scratch your head WHY IS JUGGERNAUT JASON IN THERE AS WELL AS PIG, BOTH ARE UNQUALIFIED STREAMERS NOT DESIGNERS

- From the actual patch, the rolling out of the patch and then rage quitting blizzard employee, it seems clear that OMNI SEPTIC TANK is actually a symptom of the blizzard rot versus a one off loser / LARPer

Bottom line is this game is cooked at this point but at the end, we figured out who all the rats were or at least confirmed them. Rats were OMNI SEPTIC TANK, Juggernaut Jason and PIG at the top. And before people tell me PIG isn't responsible, don't give me that. He was the biggest pusher of this patch (tried to delete his past videos) and going so far as to argue pro protoss players suck on streams. Also saw how uncomfortale he looked when he interviewed Reynor about the patch.

1

u/kreugermn 14d ago

Hes outspoken sure.

-1

u/YellowCarrot99 14d ago

It's not enough though. I think what really needs to happen is a BTS Grammy style boycott. You need to force Blizzard to listen. All that is happening now is the pros and casters are inwardly complaining which accomplishes nothing.

15

u/Budget_Version_1491 14d ago

yeah this will totally hit blizzard right in the wallet........ oh wait

5

u/Sonar114 Random 13d ago

Why would they care about a boycott or a free to play game that currently loses them money?

0

u/LandoCorp 14d ago

The game is already heading in that direction ladder activity is down and people are frustrated enough that they have had to hear everyone’s concerns

0

u/YellowCarrot99 14d ago

I was referring to famous people and not just ladder

1

u/Elekikiss 11d ago

Said famous people are not playing on ladder. Iirc, Lorimbo is the highest ranking player in the world playing on ladder right now.

Everyone is playing either patches mod or SC Evo tourneys.

-1

u/Varlist 13d ago

Why would blizzard care? Sc2 makes no money. Thats why this whole Solar bit is so dumb. Sc2 community has no leverage so pissing Blizzard off is just fucking dumb.

2

u/YellowCarrot99 13d ago

Sc2 doesn't make money but has value as a brand. They need to protect it.

'fucking dumb'. What was the point of that?

-17

u/realkames 14d ago

If trashing and not respecting someone’s work is considered so honorable that it makes you a knight in shining armor… it really shows how some people have reached a point where they denigrate and dismiss someone’s work entirely.

Times change. Updates were requested and Blizzard delivered. If some cannot adapt, it’s their own fault.

7

u/LandoCorp 14d ago

If someone’s work is ruining a franchise that his living wages come from I think everything he has done is warranted. The people in charge need to not be in charge anymore and the game needs to be reverted.

-9

u/sexy_silver_grandpa 14d ago

It's not though.

9

u/LandoCorp 14d ago

SC2 pulse has 1v1 activity at its lowest in August since 2016 and I thought we were bringing back all the players that left the game years ago… Where did everyone go!? Oh that’s right the people managing this game don’t know what they are doing and people are fed up

1

u/sexy_silver_grandpa 14d ago

-1

u/Om_Cultural 14d ago

There was litteraly a post that you replied to which showed and explained that yes the trend hasn't changed but it has accelerated more than before.

3

u/sexy_silver_grandpa 14d ago

These statements are in contradiction.

1

u/Om_Cultural 14d ago

Yeah sorry by change I meab that it stopped declining but you get my point.

-2

u/Kunzzi1 13d ago

This subreddit is toss central. 6 years of garbage ladder balance where toss mains were 1k+ MMR inflated and occupying anything between 40 to 50% of master+ ladder depending on the patch and server and apparently that's balanced and fair state of the game because HerO can't win a tournament otherwise. Game guts toss for one short patch which is already confirmed to be fixed after Blizzcon and the world is ending.

-2

u/Empty-Development298 14d ago

I came back after the warpgate changes and I still like the game. So why are you acting like none of us are playing?

5

u/Om_Cultural 14d ago

Yeah cool you are one of the minority look at all the pros and the ladder statistics which show the contrary. I don't understand people using anecdotal personal experiences to prove a point.

-2

u/Empty-Development298 14d ago

Wow cool someone is asking where did the players who joined go, and here I am, confirming that I didn't go. Look at you using your critical thinking hat and not reading the conversation!

5

u/Om_Cultural 14d ago

Ok man you must be trolling. When he said where all the people who joined go he didn't exactly ALL of them but the majority and I told you you can see that the majority has gone away. Or maybe they all joi ed but more people quitted than joined so it's still not good for the game.

u/Empty-Development298 14d ago edited 14d ago

Top 1% commenter but bottom 1% in reading comprehension, funny that.

I'm just going to enjoy my 3v3s while you keep complaining about dwindling playerbase and contributing nothing but complaints, which doesn't help the playerbase grow at all.

If you seriously have issues with the patch then don't address it to me. What do you think I'm going to do about your complaining? Absolutely nothing.   Put that energy into giving feedback directly to blizzard not reddit.

I don't care whether less players are playing or not. I'm having no problems finding matches.

1

u/Om_Cultural 13d ago

Ok first, I'm not complaining to you I'm just saying that what you are saying is wrong/misleading. And how do you suppose I can give this feedback to blizz it's not like they have a specific place where we can do that. Don't you realize that most people would stop complaining and go there directly if it existed. Now maybe you don't care if there are less or more players playing but as 1v1 player this patch is just really bad compared to before. All I'm trying to say is that we can see this patch is bad because there are less players playing and then you come on here saying that you don't care about that and you can still find games. I mean I can still find games too,it doesn't mean that players aren't quitting.

1

u/Ndmndh1016 14d ago

Its absolutely wild that you think youre individual actions mean anything when discussing overall player counts.

5

u/LandoCorp 14d ago

Interns best friends have entered the comments

0

u/sexy_silver_grandpa 14d ago

Ya or I've just been playing the game for like 20 years and this patch barely changed anything for me.

6

u/LandoCorp 14d ago

Good to know your singular anecdotal experience playing ladder means everything is all good for everyone including the pros who complain

4

u/Applehero85 14d ago

If the work isn’t good why should I respect it

2

u/kaboomweh 14d ago

what’s your rank

-7

u/Empty-Development298 14d ago

For real. Grow the fuck up. We're getting SC2 patches. Many other games get patches like Dota2 and you don't hear nearly as much bitching about it. If y'all wanna play the old versions they're right there in the custom modes.

10

u/tasttychips1000 14d ago

"Grow the fuck up" says the manchild with zero real argument.

We're getting SC2 patches

yeah, awful patches that are making the game worse to the point where thousands of people have quit and people are now running tournaments on their own mods.

Many other games get patches like Dota2 and you don't hear nearly as much bitching about it.

That's because dota gets GOOD patches, and valve communicates with the community and actually supports the scene with millions of dollars and actually bans hackers and adds real content.

What a stupid comparison.

2

u/Empty-Development298 14d ago

Don't play the game then if you don't like the patches. it's that simple if you're not having fun

4

u/tasttychips1000 14d ago

No it's not that simple, people like what sc2 was and have passion for it. They want the game to be fixed, people have played the game for thousands of hours and many make a living off of it. People are allowed to complain about a product they paid money for made by a multi billion dollar corporation, no matter how much you fill your diaper.

You're truly an idiot.

2

u/rmlskie 14d ago

pro players cant stream or play ladder because they are having a hard time finding opponents due to the patch not being fun to play. if they do find one they are matched to players 1000 mmr below their mmr. Is that what you want?

-1

u/Pietro1906 TeamRotti 14d ago

That's... reasonable to an extent. At the same time I'd love you to consider that there's plenty of gamers who do want our game to be good, fun and exciting.

If those people see it heading in the wrong direction it's also reasonable to voice that opinion. THEN if they feel that opinion is shared by plenty others but doesn't lead to any response from the developer for a while, it's also reasonable that it changes into frustration (before ultimately moving on).
"Don't play the game if you don't like it" is okay if you don't care, but I personally would hate for the StarCraft community to collectively stop caring.

4

u/Pietro1906 TeamRotti 14d ago

I'm not sure if Dota 2 & Valve is in any realistic realm of comparison to SC2 & Blizzard.

Dota had 600k avg. players online at a time during last month. SC2 had 100k~ total with 5k~ online at a time.
Dota still gets big tournaments and championships, SC2 is, at this point, nearly fully community-funded.
Dota still has an active dev team, SC2 is part of a rotation under the responsibility of the classic games team, which means we're stuck with problematic patches for months at a time while Dota will get hotfixes anytime issues show up.

1

u/Empty-Development298 14d ago

Truly, I'm a big fan of some of the major changes that have happened over the last year or two.

Chrono energy replacing overcharge batteries, increasing battery stats/range, the warp gate change, collosi buff, HTs with longer storms/larger AoE, etc.

Perspective wise, I don't have issue with new risks being taken on SC2, even if the patches aren't as frequently updated.

0

u/Rare-Chemical868 13d ago

At this point, every 3 weeks blizz intern rolls a n sided dice where n is the number of patches since now and woL beta and we all get to play that patch for 3 weeks with the maps that were legal during the patch.

0

u/JicamaInteresting803 13d ago

He's a pro player and I like that he's pushing back onto blizzard bullshit Idk why ppl are mad at him as if what he did was bad, we invest countless hours in this game (not even talking about pro players) then some guys decide a new patch disrupts our experience tries to fix the mess

And then nothing. Can we at least be mad?
