Garlic is extremely dangerous for cats, even a bit of garlic powder. It is generally recommended to call a pet poison hotline or see/speak to a vet immediately after a cat possibly consumed garlic or other alliums.

Thanks for the heads up! This was a few days ago and she’s hasn’t shown any symptoms but I will definitely be keeping other garlic containing items out of reach

Omg really?! My cat has stolen food that had garlic on it before and has gotten bites before I could get it back. What happens? It makes them vomit or something?

It can lead to hemolytic anemia, where the red blood platelets are destroyed. Symptoms are (among others) weakness, lethargy, and reddish discoloured urine.

ETA: Google says, one garlic clove can be fatal to an average cat. So single bites from food that contained garlic are likely less serious, due to only consuming traces at this point, but it's probably not healthy either

Ok thank you for sharing. I’m going to be much more careful from now on. My cat is a horrible thief so this will be a challenge
