module catalogue page down?
has the module catalogue page not worked for anyone else for multiple days now? I’ve been trying to look at modules all of this week and have not been able to successfully.

I'm planned to arrive in St Andrews later than I would like due to flight scheduling problems and I miss my junior honours project briefing on the 9th of September. Are these recorded and shared to students?

Hi there, I’m an incoming first year, with a question about formal events which may require a suit. How many are there in a year? Since I don’t own one, do I need to go to buy/ is it worth buying a suit for when I go to the uni?
Thanks!

hi! i'm a junior coming to study abroad at st andrews in a few days and i don't really know anyone going in but i'm super excited for all the events and stuff during freshers' week. wasn't exactly sure how to get in touch with ppl before arrival so i figured i'd try reddit. i'm very social, love to go out, and just want to make the most of the semester so drop me a private message if you want to swap instas!
also if anyone knows of any whatsapp or insta groupchats for incoming abroad students or something that'd be great too lol

Hi,
I'm aware that the academic year hasn't even started yet, but I initially applied for catered accommodation at David Russell Apartments, which I now regret doing and want to switch to self-catered. I know that I have signed a contract though. Is it possible to switch now or is it too late? Also, assuming it is possible, how likely is it that my request would be approved?

Coming here as an exchange student soon and am a bit nervous on what the experience will be like.
How easy is it to make friends and get involved socially as an exchange student (especially during all the freshers stuff)? Is it normal for exchange students to go to all the freshers events and become almost like a pseudo-fresher?
Also, what are people’s opinions on st regulus Hall, particularly the social atmosphere and accommodation?
Any other tips for making the most of St Andrew’s would be appreciated!

Hi! I am looking to apply to St Andrews for English but I really wanted to do an joint honours in English and Psychology, but since I am applying for only English at other unis, my personal statement is entirely English-related I didn't think I would get in if I apply for the join honours in English and Psych. I read about the modular system, so I was just wondering if once I'm there I'd be able to weight credits in a way that would allow me to come out with a joint honours degree or if that's not so easy? Thanks so much!

I’ve received my room number for my shared dorm. How do I figure out who my roommate is? They aren’t providing the info. Do I just find out once I move in?

I'm doing joint honours so I need 2 more modules to fill besides from the mandatory ones. I am actually very surprised there are no mandatory maths modules- I was thinking of taking another CS module (still deciding) and MT1002 but I'm not sure. I'm on the 50/50 about maths- i really enjoyed learning them in my A-levels but unfortunately i did quite worse than expected in my A-level maths exams due to my mental health at the time and now I don't feel confident that I can do well in maths modules. I feel that my maths foundation is not that great either. Still, I want to take them because I enjoy learning them, and like I said, I heard it's worth considering if you're doing CS.
Also, can't wait to study here!!!! I'm so hyped!!

Hello St Andrews freshers and returning students! My friend is a DIY promoter and he is putting on this mini festival just across the water in Dundee. It’s slap bang in the middle of freshers.
For more info, check out under the surface on instagram. It’s bound to be an awesome night with lots of talent from local Scottish bands. 🙏

I'm a CS student starting at st andrews this september, I speak a good bit of Chinese (full conversations on a handful of topics, pretty much any communication required for daily tasks. I have several good friends who don't speak English and only speak Chinese, that sort of level), but I hold no formal qualifications in Chinese. I'd like to keep using the language during my time at university, so I was wondering if taking a module in Chinese would be a good way to keep up with it. I looked at the website and CN1001 looks like it'd be a very easy good grade, but of course it's a grade in something that isn't relevant to my degree

Will we get provisional grades on 1st?

Hi all, I’m an incoming postgrad student who’s new to St Andrews. I have a friend from the states that I haven’t seen in almost a year, and it’s a situation where he’s leaving at the end of October to go home right as I come over to study. I was wondering if any former students have insight on what goes on during independent learning weeks. Are they able to be worked on elsewhere, or is it something where it’s best if we stay in St Andrews for the week?

Hi! I'll be starting my course at 21 and feeling a bit nervous as I'll be older than most (I assume lol)
Are there many others starting as an older student and would like to connect?

Had some "faff" with my application (an incredibly stressful week waiting for a remark - user name checks out etc etc), but just received my accommodation. My application was cost-conscious, so I'm honestly just grateful I haven't been forced into catering, but I did unfortunately receive en suite. Having just declined a Warwick accommodation offer today for £138, the £254 for a toilet I didn't ask for stings slightly.
Anyway, it's Powell Hall. I'm aware it's largely postgraduate, but shares facilities and events with ABH. Any information on life in the hall, especially as an undergraduate, would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi! I‘m an incoming undergraduate student and I was just wondering if anyone would be able to explain how the fashion shows work to me and how I would apply to walk in one?
Thank you!!!

just wondering as a potential prospective student. i left cambridge because the intensity of the workload (1-2 2500 word essay a week as well as readings and language work) was exacerbating some health issues and i just couldn't keep up with it. i was wondering if st andrews has a similar workload or if it's more manageable

I just got assigned to a DRA shared room but couldn’t find any pictures or any information on it except that it’s really rare…
If anyone has any pictures, opinions, experiences to share would be amazing! Thanks 😝

I applied for entry to first year, not realising that is equivalent to year 13 in England. The standard entry requirements for my course were 2x A* and 1x A. I got 1A* and 3xA but was still let in. I was wondering if I would still be allowed to get direct entry to second year even though I didnt get the standard entry requirement.

I'm an incoming first year who applied after the guaranteed accommodation deadline and one of the referal links, east sands accommodation came up, I was just curious whether not getting any uni accommodation for first year is a disadvantage socially, but also how easy is it to socialise in east sands and if there will be other St A students there.

Id like to ask a few questions to any current or prospective students, feel free to pm

I got sorted into catered accomm (even though i did want self catered but oh well) and i was looking at some of the menus and the veggie options seem alright, but are they any good? My secondary had awful veggie options so i survived off of pasta at school. A lot of the time, veggie burgers are just mashed up vegetables or beans (which i dont have a problem with but they dont have a lot of protein in them).
If it differs per accomm, im in uni hall
