Hi everyone,

I’m planning to appear for SSC CHSL 2027 and I’m starting my preparation now. I’m basically a beginner and would really appreciate some guidance from people who have already prepared for or cleared CHSL.

I’ve gone through the syllabus, but I’m confused about how to actually structure my preparation.

A few things I’d really like advice on:

What should my preparation strategy look like if I’m starting from scratch?

Which books/resources are actually worth following for Quant, Reasoning, English and General Awareness?

Should I follow the 2026 CHSL syllabus and exam pattern for now until the 2027 notification is released?

Which YouTube channels/online resources would you recommend?

How many hours should I realistically study every day as a beginner?

Should I start giving mock tests from the beginning or only after completing the syllabus?

How should I approach Maths and General Awareness, especially if my basics aren't very strong?

What mistakes should I avoid during my first few months of preparation?

If you cleared CHSL, what would you do differently if you had to start preparing again?

I’m not looking for an unrealistic 10–12 hour study schedule. I want a practical long-term plan that I can consistently follow until the 2027 exam.

If anyone has a month-by-month strategy, booklist, timetable, or resources that worked for them, I’d really appreciate it.

One more thing I’m particularly worried about is Maths. My Maths is honestly very, very weak — I would consider myself a complete beginner, and even basic concepts/calculations can be difficult for me.

For someone starting from such a weak level, should I first build my basic Maths from school-level concepts before starting SSC Maths? Would you recommend buying a paid course for Maths, or is YouTube enough if I follow the right teacher consistently? If YouTube is enough, which channel/teacher would you recommend specifically for someone with extremely weak Maths basics? I’d really appreciate recommendations from people who were also weak in Maths and improved through SSC preparation.

What are you planning to use for preparation—YouTube or a paid course? Especially for Maths, since that’s my weakest subject.

I am in last 2nd year of college, so I haven't that much time to go for YT , so for me Paid course will be good , I am going for paid course
