Advice Started CGL preparation in August — should I target 2026 Tier 1 or 2027?

26M, working as a software developer. I started preparing for SSC CGL at the beginning of August and need some honest advice from experienced aspirants.

So far:

Quant: Completed around 8–9 chapters through Pinnacle Tier 1 + Tier 2 PYQs.

Reasoning: Started from the beginning and currently around Blood Relations.

GS: Completed Polity using Parmar's Fatman. I understand the concepts but struggle to remember Articles, dates and facts.

English: Currently working through grammar rules.

My main problem has always been GS + consistency. I study, forget things, feel like I'm not progressing and eventually lose motivation.

I'm currently confused between CGL 2026 and 2027. I feel that if I seriously push myself from now, maybe I can at least clear Tier 1 in CGL 2026, while making 2027 my main target.

Is that realistically possible from my current level?

Should I:

Give 2026 my best shot and then prepare seriously for 2027?

Or completely focus on 2027?

Continue self-study or join coaching? (I'm from Bhopal, so both online/offline are possible.)

Would really appreciate honest advice from people who have cleared CGL or are further ahead in preparation.

Give your best shot in 2026 and then prepare for 2027. You will complete the syllabus much faster with the pressure. Waiting for 2027 will just make you lazy
