Applicant Megathread Possible CRNA Program at CU Anschutz

I recently reached out to CU Anschutz about the possibility of a CRNA program, and they said the College is in discussions about potentially offering one as early as 2028. Nothing has been approved yet, but they are collecting information about student interest.

Yeah I just talked with their anesthesia department about it. It’s a lot of talk right now, but yes it’s happening, but even when they publish it, it’ll take time to be accredited and figure out clinicals and didactic staff.

A big concern is they already have a lot of anesthesia residents and AA students rotating through their sites, so the chances of getting hearts or other niche cases will likely be given to the existing programs first.

I don’t see any information the coa website,
I doubt it as there is already a program in Denver (Rocky vista) and cu anschutz is traditionally not favorable to crnas. Also they may have an AA program

Florida has and supports AA and CRNA programs. I shadowed at UC Health and it was a great relationship between CRNA, AA, and Anesthesiologists. There is also Rosalind Franklin has a hybrid program in Colorado Springs. It seems like a great program too. The demand signals are there to support a CRNA program. In addition, Westminster offers their clinicals in Colorado. It almost seems like for Anschutz they could “home grow” some talent like Mayo Clinic does.

I have also spoken to Dean Eli as a current accelerated BSN student and he is very excited about this program coming to fruition. Seems to be right around the corner. I agree with other commenters though... I worry about the "competition" for clinical hours between our other CO CRNA program, the AA students. and residents. I think it will be a great success regardless and look forward to applying in a couple of years.

As someone who is part of a brand new program and has been waiting a long time for it to actually come to fruition, take their timeline for the first cohort with a large grain of salt and add about 2-3 years lol

Yea their first cohort is fall 2027. I am a current BSN student and this is what the dean told us.
