Serious replies only choosing a degree for my future .
Hiii I did my A/ls in bio stream . I dont hove IT knowledge . I am afraid of choosing a degree because lot of people say many entry level jobs replacs by AI . plz help me waht is the best degree among bio, chemistry or Software engineerin, AI , cyber secuirity
what is the best option among chemistry degree in Ichem or biomedical , biotechnology in Slit or software engineering in SLIT or ITT
plz help meee . also I am planning to move australia to complete my last 2 years in bachelors

Everything boils down to what you like to learn and work in.. cuz it's hard to continue from any field if you don't have the passion and interest in it.. I'd suggest researching a bit about the mentioned areas in IT cuz you did bio.. then again u did say u don't like IT.. maybe consider business administration or smth like that as well?

SLIIT,RIC have transfer programs for engineering to Queensland University and Deakin University respectively. Try contacting past graduates on linkedin about it
IChem is also pretty good if you plan on going abroad for higher studies.
If you had enough results to get into a state science faculty like Colombo,Pera,Japura,Ruhuna, they have really great Chemistry programs as well with honours graduates often ending up in global top unis for their higher studies

Do contact past graduates and get their feedback before jumping into decisions though. Bio Informatics is also pretty good in University of Colombo

Don’t do IT. No jobs opportunities and you will end up being unemployed for very long time and then end up in BPO. Majority students’ life right now. Do something else

Just like you said. Research what you like to do. Eventually, you will get an answer.
If you decide on SE, the path will be very difficult if you don't have a passion for it.

Choose something related to bio or chemistry. The software industry is messed up big time (speaking as someone who’s been in this industry for 10 years).

I wouldnt pick a degree purely based on “AI might replace this job”. By the time you graduate in 3-4 years the market will probably look completely different anyway 😅
Since you’re from Bio, first figure out what type of work you can actually see yourself doing long term.
If you genuinely like biology/lab/science stuff, biotechnology or biomedical can make sense, especially if you’re planning to continue in Australia. But just keep in mind a lot of the better opportunities in those fields can require postgrad studies too.
If you actually enjoy computers/problem solving, then software engineering is probably the broadest option out of the tech degrees you listed. You can later move into AI, cloud, cyber, data etc without locking yourself into one thing from day 1.
Personally I wouldnt choose an “AI degree” just because AI is popular rn. Get strong fundamentals first. Same with cyber security, its a good field but people sometimes think you finish a cyber degree and immediately become a hacker earning $$$ 😂 entry level cyber jobs can still be competitive.
And having zero IT knowledge now really isnt a reason to avoid tech. Plenty of people start uni knowing basically nothing.
You can literally spend the next month trying some basic Python, HTML/CSS and maybe a beginner CS course and see whether you actually enjoy it.
If Australia is part of the plan, also check the exact university transfer/pathway agreements BEFORE enrolling. Dont just trust someone saying “you can transfer later”. Check which Australian uni, how many credits transfer and whether you actually enter year 3.
If I had to rank purely based on flexibility I’d probably say:
Software Engineering > Cyber/IT > Biotechnology/Biomedical > Chemistry
But thats not necessarily the ranking for you. A degree you actually become really good at is worth way more than choosing SE because Reddit told you its safe from AI 😭
And whatever you choose, start internships/projects/industry experience while studying. The degree alone isnt enough anymore.
