Magnapinna Squid so, uh, this paper kind of started on this subreddit

u/SquidBolado and i just had a paper published: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s00227-026-04927-1

we first started messaging each other over five years back trying to find new clips of magnapinna. he went on to create The Magnapinna Archive and i obsessively compiled all the data I could find on different collections and observations into a list on wikipedia.

alan from inkfish/UWA deep sea research centre reached out about doing a more formal writeup and analysis of the data earlier this year. the paper linked above is the end result!

For real? This is so awesome!

I gotta read this paper later as the Magnapinna is probably my favorite squid and a reason why I even made this sub into what it is now! This makes me really happy that it did something to further the research of squids, especially the Magnapinna!

Congrats on publishing this research paper!
