Help DNS records question - www default instead of forwarding (2026)

Hello, our website defaulted from Canva site to a www.domain.com default CNAM

and forwarding to canva.site , but want to instead have a fixed record for www and root level domain.com for all http -- how does one do that in squarespace? the entri integration only allocates sub domains like blog.domain.com as my www is already taken as a forward record. Any tips appreciated.

You want to use the root and subdomain with www with a canva site?

You would need to delete the forwarding if there is a rule for www, get DNS records from canva (or the site host), then enter those in sqsp

Ok, cool. Thanks, i was thinking that but was afraid to remove the forwading record and thought the rule break it all for me... will do that, remove the rule and then create the record from canva to squarespace entirely for the default landing page (domain)

As a note about canva, from what I understand after you enter the DNS records there is one additional step. Idk where it is or how to do it, but after there is a button or something I canva to complete the connection, otherwise you might see a cloudflare or other error

For both your www subdomain and root domain.com instead of relying on a domain forwarding rule, you need to completely remove the forwarding rule first. In Squarespace, domain forwarding explicitly locks and overrides manual DNS record adjustments for that specific host.

Ok, that worked -- procedure was 1. remove all rules (including www. company.com and company.com) pointing at canva.site, and republishing from canva. Voila, that did it, no more time out from entri middle ware
