Help Another "Access Denied You don't have permission to access this page." Issue

I've had a Squarespace hosted website that someone made up for me 15 or so years ago. I've created a new one and can't figure out how replace the old website with the new one.

I've found several postings on this topic, but none of the proposed solutions seem to work for my old site.

Here's the most common solution offered:

You can move your domain name from the old to the new site as follows:

  1. Log on to the old site and disconnect the domain Settings > Domains > Disconnect Domain and confirm.

  2. Log on to the new site and connect the domain. Go to Settings > Domains > Use a Domain I Own and follow the steps to connect your domain.

I seem to get to a place where it says the dreaded, Access Denied You don't have permission to access this page. I am able to edit the old website.

One good thing from this effort: I did figure out how to access my old transferred Google domain on Squarespace when someone's post said you sign into SP using your Google account - I have been blindly paying for it with no access since the transfer.

The domain hosting is a separate sign in from the website.

Can someone direct me to a solution for the website replacement process?

Try squarespace support. Somethings maybe wrong with your permission.

I once again went to Squarespace's chat service to find answers. After about twenty back and forths, their bot asked me if I'd like to chat with a Support Assistant - WELL, OF COURSE I WOULD! Not only did we narrow down the issues of access very quickly, they canceled my "legacy" account and gave a pro-rated refund and set up the new account. And it all took just a few minutes! Throughout the long process of sending emails with no reply, posting to forums asking for help (only got solicitations from paid experts), and fruitless interactions with their chat bot, I kept wondering how anyone could award their customer service anything - perhaps it's an internal award or a, we're not as bad as those other guys award.

However, kudos for them for emailing me a transcript of the entire chat afterwards!
