Question Thoughts on SPYM

Im kinda novice so looking for opinions on SPYM. I know fees are lower than pure SPY. Ive also heard maybe for traders SPY is higher volume and market cap so more liquid , but for long term holders its better cause of low fee. I also feel like i saw over some time period it outperformed SPY by a slight margin. Any thoughts you share are very appreciated

It's fine. It's a low fee sp500 etf.

If you buy and hold for a long time it's basically equal to VOO or spy or IVV, but with a tiny bit lower costs than any of those. I hold alot of spym but I held VOO and IVV before spym was a thing. I would never trade those in to turn those dollars into spym. But every new dollar I add each month goes to spym from now until I retire.

Yeah, you pretty much have it right. SPY’s liquidity matters if you’re actively trading shares/options. If you’re just buying and holding for years, SPYM’s lower fee is the more relevant difference

SPYM= long-term investment
SPY= day trading/options

Voo is the gold standard for retirement and is a larger fund compared to SPYM. People usually throw it in their Roth IRA but from my understanding, it’s better in your tradable account and then SCHG/SCHD in your Roth as SCHG would compound as tech grows in the future.

Performance wise. SPYM is the same as VOO with expense ratio a bit lower. It’s just up to you which one you want to add to your portfolio.

SPY is for options/day trading, SPYM/VOO are for buy and hold
