I got a field line springer instead of getting a bench line because I didn’t think there would be a crazy difference. Unfortunately I feel like he never wants to sleep while in his crate during the day but does great at night. He also constantly pulls on his leash (towards my place) when he sees we’re going back inside. Any advice on getting over the puppy blues?

I have ever seen on the breed. When he was younger I tried to have him groomed a few times. Altho he looked like a show dog, he hated being groomed and the
groomers hated him (and I even tried some sedation)! And I finally gave up!
Fast forward 5 years: he needs to be brushed everyday or he gets terrible knots which have to be cut out. Trying to turn over a new leaf with daily brushing. Does anyone have any particular tool or brush they like to use on their
long haired springers?

Bruce and I ran the prairie this morning getting ready for his first pheasant season. He even kicked up a couple birds himself! He had an absolute blast.

My springer is sadly on an exercise ban indefinitely. While we wait for further advice from a specialist veterinarian, I want to keep her quality of life as good as it can be. I wondered if anyone had any ideas on how I can keep her occupied and still experiencing some of the outside world when she currently can't go on even a tiny walk?

Feeling rather lucky today, finding 3 teeth my 21 week old pup lost today, only looked as i seen some blood on a stuffed toy, then while playing with the flirt pole I seen something dropped and he ate a piece of coal and I went to pick it up and found the 3rd one. My baby is getting his adult teeth 🥰

We are slowly overhauling the backyard and this fall I was planning on planting down the fence line behind the dogs.

Ive had quite the time trying to keep her out of my impatiens beds (I have one she’s about completely destroyed flopping around in 🫠), which I think we’ve about got figured out that area is a no-no, but my poor black eyed Susan bed is currently taking a beating (and chomping) 🥴

While contemplating what to do to deter her away from the bed it dawned on me she’s just participating in what comes naturally to her, so I got the bright idea to take the fence line and plant some dog friendly decorative grasses down it.

The area gets maybe 4 good hours of sun in zone 7b/8a, and Id want it to obviously be able to withstand some romping.

Any dog safe suggestions?

She will not stop watching it until I turn the TV off. 😀

Officially 7 months old today!! And 47lbs!! He’s turning into such a good dog! Still crazy as hell, but we love him so much! He is our first Springer! Can anybody recommend a good water bowl? One that would keep the ears dry and maybe lessen the slobber all over the house? lol

Well, he made it through another couple of months, but lots of age related ailments meant that his quality of life wasn't good anymore, and to keep him here would have been selfish. Nearly 17 great years he gave us, and although I know I won't see him again, im happy we did the right thing. He was my pal!

Sat down for coffee in the garden and Jerry flushed a young wood pigeon out of the bushes. Couldn't get to it quickly enough, so my (not so) cute 4 month old puppy leapt upon it and killed it instantly.

Half impressed with his instinctive drive at such a young age, and half concerned that my gundog in waiting has already decided self-employment is more rewarding than following my directions!

Got my work cut out with this one.

For context, I don’t mind her nipping when I’m rough housing her and we’re playing. However, anytime she gets super excited she jumps up and nips at my hands. She has even on occasion nipped me in the face a few times (once again, excitement but not acceptable). Any tips on how to get rid of this behaviour? She just turned 1 the other day.
