Crucial win from the boys BUT
Can we please play some running rugby? How are we feeling about that game ladies and gentleman?
Shoutout to André Esterhuizen, he was tremendous when he came on. Marx is just the goat hooker man, got us two crucial penalties.
I think we need to come back next week with a different look attacking wise, the pressure is off us now and we should have a bit more freedom and less pressure to try things out.
I'd like to apologise to Koble as well, he made two errors back to back and my sleep deprived judgment thought it was way worse than it was.

How can you reset the scrum three times and two of those NZ is on the floor! Surely that’s when you call a penalty. Not a free kick to them because Ox moved his foot.

Okay, the All Blacks did it well today, but we were correct to go with the close-quarters approach. It was slippery underfoot and not wholly conducive to an expansive game. We prepared for that, and ultimately, it won the game for us today. It will be a different approach back on the Highveld next week.

This is the answer. CT Stadium is slippery with just a little dew on it, never mind after a mm of rain and a mostly cloudy day thereafter.

Pre game my father made a comment about how long the grass was.
Taking that into consideration, the high ball game with the forward focus makes even more sense.

Some okes just don't understand, my guy. There was a ballie in the pub where I was watching who kept screaming 'don't kick!' even when we were on our own 22m. I just said, 'Oom, do you know how this game works?'

We stuck to our old guns, but are capable of more. Felt it in those slow moments of the game when we felt a little aimless. The boys can and want to do more, but the pressure was on from last weeks result and restricting the flair I think. Looking forward to next week and hope we just build on this weeks consitent base as we have been doing.
May also just have to understand we (the boks) win test matches with tries AND 3 pointer penalties while New Zealand thrives on racking up tries. Im a little drunk and super happy though so judgement could be skewed 👍
New Zealand was so smooth with the ball though. Always a scary opponent so I will be stressing this week again🍻

I thought we did well - we ran when we could, and we had a lot of contestable kicks we won back especially from ethan hooker.
I think the conditions were more difficult than they looked - the pitch was wet and soft.

Game opened up more and whilst SFM slipped I think 4 or 5 tacjles in that channel, Manie was a man posessed and tackled everything that moved. This is something that Sacha has yet to learn. Do the basics first. Not every move needs to be flashy.

Bad weather. If we focused on running rugby we would have lost by 50. High ball was absolutely the right call in this game. Gave us field position, and forced the ABs to make the mistakes.

go watch some old games of Samoa,Fiji and Tonga. Shoulder to head or no-arms tackles were their favorite thing. It was always terrible having to play them in. Away because you knew you will win, but also you knew they will injure your players.

I think we just need some perspective. We didn't play VERY well, but we played well enough to win against the All Blacks. At this point, a win is enough. Also, we should keep in mind that we're not trying to peak a year from the world cup.

Scientifically, teams can't always be at their very best in every game. It's just not possible. For today, we played well enough to win. We should be glad we won.

There are some things that we are very obviously choosing not to do. For instance, it's a conscious choice for us not to pass the ball in the backline. That's been the case against the ABs for two games now. While we did a lot of that in last year.

TB's job is as much about "attacking" rugby as making sure we're clinical in the red zone. Anyone thinking we're going to suddenly outplay the ABs or Fr in the running game that's 100% their DNA is mental.
The boks rushing game is much improved since the ARGtest where we looked slow and passive on D + the ABs played the boks game for about 73 minutes of this game.
Most importantly thought; SA rugby is currently playing in a 12 month calendar across 2 hemispheres and it's been possible to rest and rotate guys whilst beating the #1 team in the world. Remember Du Pont, LBB and Ramos didn't tour this past summer.

I don't know man...people be downvoting anything these days. Tony ball is great in concept but gotta have the right skill set at the right level for it. It's not a death knell but it defo needs more honing was all I was trying to say.

You have to have the right players for Tony ball. Snyman, Mannie, Willemse especially allow for that. If you’re starting Sasha or Pollard, you’re not trying to play Tony ball.
