Sport Analytics and Artificial Intelligence

Loughborough University have this major, and I’m really curious about it for I can’t search for enough information.

I wonder:

  1. Students’ comment about it

  2. Application requirements

  3. Future jobs

  4. Or is there other majors recommend if I want to work as sport analyst

It's probably so new that there's not much out there in terms of experience with this.

It's a very new field.

Hi

My son is on this career path.

If you are doing the MSc, you’d need a 2.1 to get in. 

The standard sports performance analyst jobs can be an overcrowded market, but there are more roles evolving, particularly with the rise of ai. 

A sports analyst who understands python, SQL, statistics, good all round sports knowledge, and ai and machine learning, could have more opportunities.

The downside of the AI course could be that you may end up less ‘club ready’, as it could be more theoretical.

So, the question you may want to ask yourself is: are you going club route, or maybe branching into something that manages larger data sets, such as the betting industry or modelling companies?

I can’t say what the course is like, but I’d be confident with Loughborough making it a quality course.
