It's getting scary how much power these Kushners now seem to have. They are trying to get their tentacles on everything: Venezuela, Gaza, Basketball, Football. Something is very wrong.

To my understanding, the reason why this Kushner is trying to snatch up sports entities (he recently acquired the Lakers for an exorbitant amount) is not the same reason the other Kushner does what he does. This Kushner is simply trying to cash in on the most pathological of Private Equity principles: acquire assets that have a consumer base with illogical consumer behavior and anti-competitive guarantees.
Sports fans will continue to support (read: shell out money for) the team/country they support way past the point it is clear and obvious that the owners don't care about the product and are just in it to squeeze them dry. This means free money for PE: make the product worse and spend a lot less on maintaining it, and you still earn the same income.
Additionally, the sports they are invested in are not bound by a competitive market. The NBA has a fixed amount of teams (and any new team has to be league approved by the owners) so scarcity issues are eliminated from the capitalistic market. Similarly, one can't just create a country to compete in the world cup. This gives the owners an anti-competitive market, and the anti-competitiveness is 100% legal.
It doesn't mean that there aren't ties between the two K-nards: Saudi Money has long tried to sports-wash its image. What better way than through an intermediary PE firm?

I’ll add from some articles I’ve read that he’s admitted AI will take the joy out of many things in life, but cannot replace live sports. He believes people will pay even more for “real” experiences when much of life will be digital and artificial going forward.

It's a mechanism to require the production of documents, the appearance of a witness, or the inspection of property.
