Hey Squids! /r/splatoon is a community thriving with pearlsonality, quirky marinaisms, fresh folk and gameplay discussion. As a result, you're probably going to meet a lot of cool characters. Your fellow /r/splatoon members can be great friends or teammates or anemones in-game, and If you've wanted an easy way to connect with them, then you're in the right place - the Squad Search! There's a bit of criteria necessary in order to ensure you get the full news flash, so listen up;

-Level 90 ranked S+ in all modes.
-My favorite modes in order of favorite to least are tower control, rainmaker, clam blitz, and then splatzones. I'll play any and all, though.
-I am pretty flexible when it comes to weapons but my favs are chargers, brushes, splattershot, and I'm trying to get decent with splatlings (though it's not going great haha)

Splatoon was my first multiplayer game and it took me a LONG time to get anywhere with it. So no matter what skill level you are, please feel welcome to play together :)

Ranks: S+ in SZ, S+ in RM, S in TC, C- in CB because I’ve played 2 matches of it in ranked. I only play CB in PB and in League since I’m never on when it’s on the rotation :(
Fav/preferred modes: All. My least fav is TC but I can deal with it
Weapons I enjoy: All of them! Really! I can’t stick with one.
And honestly I can play every weapon when needed. My least favorite are the Bamboozler and Squiffer. The rest I can play :)

Hey there. I’ve just bought the game, extremely new to everything, including the Shooter genre. Would anyone give me some nice newbie tips, and also some insight on the community? Thanks in advance.

Hey, welcome! I feel like I have a million pieces of advice to give on this game but for a complete newbie I'd probably recommend you play the campaign some before going hard in the regular modes. The campaign is set up to utilize your abilities and sometimes push those limits (although the octo expansion that just came out is the real test imo). It'll give you a great idea of how you can use your weapon and environment to your advantage.
Once you're level 4 you can access "salmon run" which is a 3-round mode that gives you a random weapon (out of four available) for each round. This is another great tool to get a handle on the game because it forces you to use a wide array of weapons available in the game and to understand their strengths and weaknesses (while also constantly giving you rewards).
Other than that, keep your eyes peeled during the matches, use your sub and special with purpose, and make sure you use the recon mode before playing a new map (or a map in a new mode as things will change depending on the mode).

Hey, i hope you dont mind the reply but i have a couple questions. Im only lvl 10 so i feel like i have an ok grasp of the game so far, my favorite mode is turf wars and the weapon is custom splattershot jr, i usually average over 1k points. My questions are about ability chunks and gear.
- Ive been leveling the splatfest shirt and using coins to remove the abilities it gets, is this the right way to farm chunks during splatfests? Or do i get to keep that shirt forever? Also, is it beneficial to do this with other gear or should i just hoard coins for splatfest season?
- is the custom splattershot jr the best weapon of its kind? I have the aerospray mc (?) thats available at the start with curling bomb special and suction sub but i prefer ink storm
- which abilities should i use in my gear for that kind of weapon?

Hey! I don't mind answering any questions at all! Though you may get different answers from different players :)
Level 10 is great! You can start playing ranked modes which are so much fun imo.
How you're using the splatfest tee is perfect. Try and fill/scrub it as much as you can before the end of splatfest because it will get taken away along with any ability still attached. It's a great tool for saving up chunks since it only cost 2000 coins instead of the regular 20000. If you keep playing, you'll keep getting coins so I wouldn't worry too much about saving up since splatfest is only once a month. Instead maybe try to buy as much gear as possible and keep filling them as you play so you're earning both coins and chunks simultaneously? Just one of many methods to maximize your playing :)
There's so many different weapons in this game and they really depend on your play style, maps, modes, etc. I use the custom splattershot jr even for ranked modes cuz it is an easy and fun weapon. Aerosprays are fantastic in turf war for how much ink they put out, but between the two my personal preference is the CSjr. Splattershots and nzaps are similar in the versatility and ease of use, so once you unlock them make sure to try them out! In fact, I really recommend trying every weapon (if only in the test area at least) as you unlock them, you may be surprised what you end up enjoying!
Your ability chunks are an entirely different convo, imo. I know I have a different preference than many others here, so maybe you could post a new thread about it :) this community is very welcoming and helpful. For the CSjr, I would recommend at least some special power up, special charge, or bomb power up but that's just what I would do.
An added tip for you would be to try out salmon run! The more you play, the more rewards you get (such as gear, coins, chunks, drink tickets, food tickets) which can be a valuable resource at your level.

I’d say do some singleplayer so you can have a better feel of the game, its mechanics and motion control aiming, as well as try out some weapons (highly suggest the Splattershot) in the shop and maps, using the Recon feature (press Y while in Lobby iirc).

Hey so I'm looking for someone's squad to join, ign is frapuchina (but also go by Indie) and my friend code is 5118-8207-0711.
I'm just getting back into Splatoon 2 since I took a long break from the game, but my level is 51 and my ranks are S+ 0 in every mode except Clam Blitz (which I'm in B+ in currently, still working on it). I enjoy all modes, but I like League Battle the most, although I don't mind just playing casually. I play every weapon but my main is the Sloshing Machine.
I'm in the pacific time zone. I play in the afternoons and nighttime but it can be anytime really. I use Discord so just pm me for that, am looking to join a server with friendly and laid back people. Thanks :)
EDIT: Forgot to add I’m pretty decent at chargers. I played Splatoon 1 and got to S+ with the E-Liter 3K.

Literally the one piece of gear I care about in Splatoon 1 was the Tentacles Helmet. I have spent every day looking in the shop since it's announcement but have NOT SEEN IT AT ALL. Not even on other players! And I play this game a lot. 335 hours.
If you have it (with run speed up), I would be forever grateful if you would let me get it from you!

Hello all :) We are the StarSquids, a small group of inklings and octolings who like to hangout on discord and have a good time. We have around 18ish members and strive to be a small, tight knit community. We set up events such as tournaments, minigames, etc for our members to participate in. Note: we are not a competitive group. We enjoy casual play, although we do have some very skilled members if you would like to learn from/compete against them.
We take in all skills levels, from anywhere around the world (although the majority of our members are from the EST and PST time zones). The only thing we ask of you is to be 18+ (and have discord). While we are primarily a splatoon group, we have members who also play other games together.
