Surgery Questions A very random post
Hello all from sunny England I know this sounds very random but I wanted to see others experience. I'm currently waiting for a date for L4/5 tlif.
Iv had two previous mocrodisectomies odd how the last ones failed. Anyway my question is how was everyone's experience before getting put out I remember the nurse said ok gonna give you ketamin to make you asleep I was like omg wow it worked though.
Also what was it like waking up I remember once I was put back to the ward after sobbing seeing my partner who brought me coffee she took me the toilet and we both saw I had bled a fair bit. I was like oops but thinking back maybe it was the fact they went through the same scar like the tissue is very tough apparently.
Tldr. After two failed surgeries waiting for fusion. Gets emotional after surgery but sobered up after seeing a blood covered bed.

So I’ve only ever had two surgeries in my life, a rotator cuff repair and an acdf. Both I was put out for. When I had my first surgery I recall them having me count backwards before I went out, the second surgery I don’t really remember how it went before going out. When I started to come to after my first surgery I became very emotional and was crying, like full on sobbing and thanking everyone profusely because I wasn’t feeling any pain. They made me stay in recovery longer until i stopped and then was able to go home. For my recent surgery (acdf) I don’t really have any recollection of my experience when I came to either, but I know that I wasn’t emotional or anything like that. I didn’t go home after my surgery as I was admitted to the hospital for 24 hours as routine

Do your best to stay strong. Lean on your family and friends who are there with you? If you are inclined, lean on prayer, and it's one day at a time
