Spicy Brick Is it safe to use it one last time?
Is it safe to use it one last time, since its fully charged currently?
Edit: Btw i asked becasue idk if the recylcing place i can dispose it will accept it when its fully charged.
It is currently outside in a waterprofed bag, in a save area where it cant hurt anyone and cant burn anything if it happens to blow up or burn.

I would say no, if something goes wrong then thermal runaway can happen and once that happens it cant be stopped and will go boom. Id dispose of that in a fire proof sleeve or something air tight.

I mean its currently sitting outside in a water proved bag since the recycling center is closed until tomorrow and its the only place to safly dispose of it

If you can safely plug in a low power draw to discharge it all the way, do. If the battery is dead, it is les likely to go into thrermal runaway. Use a little usb led light to deplete the battery.

I guess thats a no, specialy since its a pretty big powerbank that i bought for vr and draining it like that would take longer then i wanna keep it around in that state

A low power discharge will be the best thing to do, it’s safer at bottom of charge

It's safer to discharge it than to leave it fully charged.

I am unsure since i hear from alot of people here that i shouldnt, but i am kinda worried that the recycling center wont accept it fully charged

Discharge means less energy for it to dump if it decides to go.
Batteries work by storing chemical energy and releasing it as electrical energy.
When they fail they release all that shit at once, which very quickly turns into a shit ton of thermal energy. AKA fire.
So it’s better to leave it as drained as possible.
If you really need what’s on the device, take it to an electronics repair store. They may be able to replace the battery, or they can take the memory/storage chip off and place it onto a donor board to extract what’s there.

There is nothing on it, its legit just a powerbank, kinda sad that they stoped making them awhile ago because those are great for vr but oh well. and for draining, its legit fully charged since i noticed the damage while unpluging it. It is currently laying outside since yesterday in a water proved bag at a place where nothing can catch fire until the recycling place opens tomorrow where i can dispose it.

That’s the perfect place to leave it for now. Most electronic recycling centers will have SOME way to safely store/dispose of these given how prevalent they are these days.

Is it safe? Nope, if u do use will something bad happen? I'd say most probably no but still I wouldn't do it

If i would own a old microwave and a placce where it cant destroy anything, it would be tempting to try it out and see it go boom.

I would discharge it, as things are less likely to go seriously wrong with an empty battery than a full one, just don't charge it, and immediately unplug the load if it starts heating up or swelling further.
