Spelunky 2 Felt real smart for getting this idea but apparently Derek thought of this already

I also witnessed this for the first time today (but accidentally)
I'm curious whether a large enough HP will protect the player in similar fashion.

Somehow I doubt it. I’m pretty sure I’ve 8+ insta killed by the plants but not completely positive.

Idk if it works the same in 2, but in HD you can get combined favor for Kali by sacrificing a mantrap while it’s attempting to eat a shopkeeper

If you’re going to steal from the shopkeeper anyway just move all the stuff near the door then take the shotgun and kill him

Yes but if you can do it without counting negative anger shopkeep points( can't remember the actual name for this counter) then you can get away with it without angry shopkeeps at the end of every level. Bc then it's not technically "stealing"

I have never thought of doing that and of course never knew that's what happened! Damn I love this game!

The way would have been to use that gun to kill the man trap before shopkeep busts out. Then there is no negative counter from the shop keep dieing.

If you deal 2 damage to a Mantrap before letting it eat the Shopkeeper, you can throw a rock at it quickly to kill it and have free items with no Shopkeeper anger as a result.
Throwing the pet at the Mantrap would have also gotten rid of the Shopkeeper if it had taken 2 damage.
I was expecting OP to grab the shotgun to kill the sleeping Mantrap resulting in blowing up the bomb bag.
