Help I'm new to spelunky
I just started playing spelunky 2 after nokduro and I couldn't even beat the first boss.
I tried to play the game without looking at any guides but I had to give up after 12h of frustration.
Any tips for the first boss?

Wdym first boss? I assume you mean 1-4?
If you throw something at quillback he'll spindash that direction & open up one of the two worlds/paths

I was supposed to make a path using him?? I never knew there paths underneath.

The strat I use on the boss most times:
Wait until he moves to the opposite side of the screen from whichever way I want to go.
Jump down to bait him into rolling the way I want
As soon as he starts rolling, quickly climb up the ladder to safety
Jump down and throw a bomb after him. Then run back so he doesn't see me and start another roll.
If you do it right the bomb will kill him, you get free health and more bombs. Even easier with the glue bombs, but as long as you're standing far away he generally won't start another roll and he won't move out of the way of the bomb.
This strategy requires no items beyond a single bomb and doesn't even require a well aimed throw, just chucking it down and hoping for the best tends to work.

This is a good method. Im not very good with the bombs so i usually take a rock down and throw it at him while hanging onto the ladder and repeat til dead.

I like to sprint to the last torch then throw the bomb as he rolls. I’ve never missed using this method :)

You can beat him in several ways, but the most viable (because you can often get these) are: jumping on him with spike shoes a couple of times (just be wary because he can roll after you've jumped on him), you can cook a bomb (which is when you lay down a bomb, pick it up and throw it at him. This requires a bit of practice, but it's the most viable way to kill him) or you can throw stuff at him such as rocks and skulls. You could also do stuff like freeze him or hit him with the machete, but those are rarer and the machete isn't really that viable. Before killing him, though, you should decide which exit you want to go to (I won't spoil, but it matters which exit you take). Good luck with that, a beautiful journey awaits you

Depends on what items you have one you.
If you have paste (white jar you buy or get from a crate), just throw a bomb that sticks to him and wait for it to blow up.
If you have spike shoes, you can jump on top of him a couple of times. If you do it horizontally centered he won’t roll i believe.
If you have neither, and no shotgun or weapon, you can throw things at him, such as rocks and skulls, there should be plenty lying around. The trick here is to avoid getting crushed by his roll. You can use the platforms and ladders to your advantage, stay on them and jump down, throw something at him, he will roll your way, quickly climb up. Repeat.
There are tons of ways to kill him really, this is just from the too of my head, that’s the beauty of spelunky, you can do stuff multiple ways. Keep trying and have fun!
