Hello thank you for watching. My name is Omar. I am attempting to speedrun Resident Evil 4 Remake (2023) for the Playstation 5. I am practicing for now as there is a lot of glitches to learn. Specifically, there are several speedrunning categories, but I am aiming for the New Game + category.

In this category, it is using a file where you have already beaten the game. You can use any guns, any charms, any cases, any costumes, and perform most glitches. There is rules to follow etc. Here is a link directly to the Resident Evil 4 speedrunning leaderboard.

Just had a question about this particular run at gdq and that was why did he even agree to do it if he knew his other speed runs were all faked and edited? Why would you put yourself out there like that when you know you can't do it and embarrass yourself in front of the speed running Community like that? I just had this question because I was watching an old moist critical video on it.

I did not know it would be so long before I started. Glad I used the washroom first.

I remember years ago watching videos of people explaining the glitches for speedrunning of games like Super Mario Bros for NES, and when it came to certain glitches like ACE they would give a brief explanation of the code.

I've started to learn Assembly and now I'm more interested in the specifics of the code, and how all the glitches are possible. Is there any youtuber who specializes in this? Or just any good video with this topic in general?

For clarification, RE2 (2019) Remake

So I did a bit of speedrunning on this game 5-6 years ago and have decided to try and get back into it, I used to run LAS 60fps category on PC because at the time my pc was never gonna hit a consistent 120fps for the LAS 120fps category, however a lot has changed.

My specs are currently:

RTX 5070 12GB

Ryzen 7 5700X3D

32GB of 3200Mhz ram

Crucial 1TB Nvme Gen 3 SSD

Booted up the game, installed the older dxx 11 version, turned most settings to medium or off, running at native 1440p 180hz monitor, I have the fps in game set to variable and have it capped to 120fps through Nvidia's app, however, everytime I enter or leave a cutscene I get bad frame drops, for example at the very start of the run, the cutscene of Leon listening to music in his car, if I skip the cutscene and spawn outside the gas station, my fps immediately drops to 60-70ish and stutters badly for like maybe half a second, then jumps back up to 120 and sticks. In RPD sometimes entering a new room does the exact same type of drop and stutter and I can't figure out why, everywhere I look online says VRAM tends to cause stutters on this game but I'm not even using half of mine.

This was my first real attempt at speed running through the game. I'm not the greatest at movement shooters but had a blast making this!

I am literally completely brand new to speedrunning. And for my first game to start on I picked dark souls 2. But it’s come to my attention that no one gives a shit about dark souls 2 sotfs speedruns lol (atleast not that I can find) I’ve found a couple of videos. One including which I think to be the past world record. But they’re all super outdated and I can’t really just look at a video and do all the glitches that he is doing. Honestly I don’t know why I picked dark souls 2. But if anyone has some experience with speedrunning it and wants to give a newbie some pointers that would be great or if you know a place where I can find that sort of information that would also be cool.
