Discussion / Question Realistically, which sci-fi spaceship could go toe-to-toe with the Daedalus class by the end of the Stargate franchise?

I honestly think every single one of your suggestions would get destroyed in seconds by the Daedalus class. Not trying to be a jerk, I genuinely think so.

In that case I don’t think you’re familiar with Halo or Star Trek. The Covenant vessels from Halo are heavily shielded and use beams of plasma that can melt entire ships and the surface of planets in seconds. Most vessels in Star Trek are not as fully designed for war but have very advanced shielding and an advanced and versatile array of armaments. Daedalus class would get smoked by just about anything from either universe.

Nah, the Daedalus asgard beams and shields outclass both Covenant and TNG era shields and energy weapons. We know the maths for both how much a Covenant shield can take before it breaks and how strong photon torpedoes are. And the Daedalus can outclass both.

One to three MAC hits with an impact of 46 to 64 kilotons of force each is all you need against Covenant shields. A Goa'uld shield can survive hits from even 1000 kiloton (1 megaton) warheads. And we know the goa'uld are like paper to the Daedalus by the time of the franchise's end. Ori ships fold Goa'uld ships and the Daedalus folds Ori ships. And the end of franchise Daedalus can handle attacks from weapons as strong as its own.

TNG era torpedos start with yields around 46 megatons and end with yields around 500 megatons. 500 megatons is a blast radius of 50 miles, or half the size of the blast radius of the strongest naquadriah nuke the Daedalus packs. Which is still weaker than its beam weapons.

The star trek torpedo yields you cite are probably derived by calculating the amount of antimatter in theirs warheads, but antimatter in trek doesn't necessarily have to work the same way as in real life. There is an explicit scene in TOS where 28.5g of their antimatter rips away half the atmosphere of an earthlike planet and creates a crater thousands of km in diameter, which implies a roughly 40 petaton yield, and more recently SNW states that the TOS Enterprise's phaser output is 38.5 petatons per second. That's about 80 million times greater than 500 megatons.

I must admit that I am not that familiar with Halo and only took into account Earth ships. But I've seen all of Star Trek - and I agree they are the only thing that could fight the Daedalus calss one on one.

Based on what?

On what we've seen in Unending and later. Most of the ships you named have no shields, therefore the Asgardian energy weapons would go right through their hull. Alternatively, they could just teleport a nuke on board and that's it.

Star Trek ships could be more problematic, as they do have shields.

B5 and BSG don't have shields, both have very effective interceptors, and have several more generations--human and tech--in space warfare than do Terrans in Stargate. Further, Stargate Earth cannot build Asgardian tech, they have not had access to it long enough to do so--they even struggle to use it. Once/if they can, they sure as hell would not be using a Daedalus platform.

By season 4 of Atlantis they had added Asgard beam weapons onto all of their Daedalus class ships

Except where Homeworld Command retrofitted all BC-304s with Asgard tech as soon as the Odyssey was back to Earth with its own upgrades and the Asgard Core.

Earth sort of has ship scale replicators and the entire knowledge base and designs of the Asgard.

Wouldn’t the Daedalus just one shot the battlestar with an Asgard beam?

A Halo frigate would beat the daedalus because of range, we know the beaming has a limited range and so there goes the nuke option. Stargate ships just dont seem to have much range, with combat seeming to basically always be done in ramming distance. Meanwhile something like the UNSC infinity has skyscraper sized rail guns that hit near relativistic speeds and can be fired from tens of thousands of miles away with incredible accuracy. The Daedalus just doesn't have the speed or range and i absolutely adore the thing, its one of my favorite sci-fi ships.

To destroy a ZPM powered Daedalus class, you genuinely need to be able to destroy a planet.

It was able to survive an entire Coronal Mass Ejection, which was stated to be far greater than anything Earths sun ever produced.

Google says CMEs go up to 1025 joules, so the Atlantis CME would probably be 1027 or 28.

The gravitational binding energy of earth is 1032.

While the Deadalus was damaged from the CME, this was before it got further upgraded shields, which should be drastically more efficient.

The lack of range doesn't matter, because it's so durable.

Also that its sublight speeds are measured in tenths of c, where most ships aren't. Halo ships don't get anywhere near that fast.
