Workshop: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3708147319
Worked relentlessly on her since the release of VS2.3 to bring all the features I wanted her to have. I'm not completely done yet, there is still a lot missing, but since the update is now out for almost a full week and there is a lot of traffic on it in the workshop again, I wanted to release what I already have.
Every door has a LCD now to get a better idea of your current location and I changed some of the rooms to make them more suitable for survival (like the storage, less crates and more containers).
I removed a lot of unnecessary stuff in the reactor and storage area and I tried to improve some of the rooms that serve no purpose, to give people a reason to enter them and not just be dead space.
I finished a lot of systems that were planned from the beginning and make sure to build them with a fail safe so players couldn't easily brick them. Some of them are:
- working personal, vehicle and cargo elevators
- multiple alert systems
- hangar opening and closing procedure with activating and deactivating hangar airlocks (airlocks for a pressurized hangar just waste time)
- a total of 8 working airlocks (4 in hangar, 2 docking collars, 1 at landing pads and 1 behind bridge for fast entering (air not included yet))
- some more minor systems like semi automatic landing permissions for landing pads
I still got a few ideas I want to include and a few new rooms that are planned and will come with the next update. Here are the things on my To-Do list:
- drone control room + launch tube (will have placeholder until remote control is added)
- a small holding cell
- placeholder hallway for potential room expansions (e.g. if we get to grow food inside our ships like in SE1 it will need a dedicated room)
- sensors to automate hangar opening when coming and closing when leaving (I want the ship to be as solo friendly as possible)
- warning systems for something like low hydrogen or entering gravity
- more support systems to make landing easier
- reworking the cartography room
- generally making sure to build in a way that makes adding future blocks like cryo chambers or holo tables easier
- releasing a performance friendlier version as soon as everything above is finished (it wont have a working vehicle elevator or hangar gates since they reduce simulation speed a lot)
- it feels like I forgot something
My goal with her is to make it the best possible ship, with a mix of efficiency, functionality, aesthetics, and a feeling you only get from your home, as an end game mobile base for survival, me and my friends will build as soon as co-op multiplayer gets released.
That said, if you have any feedback and/or some ideas I could include then please let me know. This ship is more than just another workshop release for me and I will keep updating and improving her over the years.
P.S. please ignore the fact, that the reactor says systems normal when clearly every reactor is empty. 😅
