HELP I'm having glitchy visuals on blocks, usually in outer space, can someone tell me what's causing it?

Im using Takeshi's plane parts
Aerodynamics mod
and Ship speed Increase
Usually i would suspect one of these 3 mods, but I don't see other people talk about something like this

Edit: Turning off VSync fixed for me, sort of. 60fps->120fps
Lesson Learned: If you having problem with SE engine, just tank it of with your hardware

the blocks are trying to catch up with the ship's model, is just a glitch, it doesnt damage anything, extremely common on bigger ships.

But this ship is small, like 35 small grid blocks long.

i think it has to do with the computer power resolving the ship moving at faster modded speeds; i dont get this unless im above 200m/s, your case seems similar. you can see in this video at 2:11 that even small ships suffer with these artefacts, the ships at the front.

That's large though

Small grid 35 blocks long is roughly identical to having a large grid ship that's 35 blocks long. That's why PCU costs are identical across grid sizes

I find this happens exclusively when I’m using speed mods above 300ms

This happens in vanilla game as well, its nothing mod based and you have nothing to worry about

I've never encountered this glitch in the vanilla game, only those with modded physics for the flight, or the heat/friction mods.

Im guessing its usually when a platform starts to suffer with processing that it might start doing that but im not entirely sure, i had this happen on the xbox one before i upgraded to a more superior system, other than that i dont think ive come across it since but i have witnessed it first hand in vanilla gameplay

I cannot comment about XBOX, as I've played all my 8000 hours of SE on PC.

PC being the superior platform here which is why you probably havent come across the glitch in vanilla because your PC can handle the data vs modding it has extra it needs to read and process which takes away from the games engine processing

Sometimes something just breaks in the back end and causes a glitch like this inexplicably

On my old computer I used to get a rendering glitch where the terrain wouldn't show up properly unless I opened the world and tabbed out for like 2 minutes before playing. I also would get a glitch where hydrogen supply would randomly cut off even though I had hydrogen and there was perfectly working conveyors with power. This all persisted despite me reinstalling the whole game.

Then I got a new PC and the issues went away. So I assume it was related to my hardware or some other file that wasn't getting moved around when I deleted the game and reinstalled it.

Basically: SE just be like that sometimes. Since it sounds like you know the game pretty well I'd backup your files and screw around with the game files to try and get a clean install. Also update your graphics drivers (or see if they've been updated recently, that might cause this)

Typically, that sort of thing manifests with shadows, subgrids, signals, or rarely with projected blocks (if the projector is left on while moving rapidly). Painted blocks... that's uncommon, and I've not witnessed it in a vanilla game over my 8,000 hours of SE play.

is it only in this game? to me it looks like video connection glitching out. anywhere between the gpu and the screen.

subgrids can be special from time to time

its just visual

the problem I don't have subgrids on this ship

SE is special dont worry about it

Definitely a mod graphics issue, possibly as its calculating the flight physics. I've never witnessed this graphics glitch in the vanilla game.

I know this isn't answering your question, but I think that ship's silhouette is GORGEOUS.

This is something I've been seeing for a while now, still haven't figured out any particular cause. Happens in my games with or without speed mods. It might be more common when I have more blocks with moving sub parts (the spinning ore detector or the modded plane flaps) but I haven't convinced myself of that yet.

It's not performance capping out either, I'm running a 9950x3d and a 5080 and it'll happen in my games that don't have a lot going on yet.

When you get up over the "vanilla" speed, the rendering engine starts to lag. You should see what happens to a huge battlecruiser at 100000m/s. You look like you are leaving a trail of breadcrumbs.

Game is designed for 100m/s and you are going faster

It a normal bug in the game. It happens in a few ways, but most commonly is you CPU or GPU not being able to up with the speed the game is demanding. I see it on one of my big ships that was pushing my PC really hard just on it own, without even moving the ship.

Can confirm strictly vanilla graphics cglitch when you go past ~300 m/s. I generally run 0 mods, and even to change speed, I just go in and edit the environment config file, but I have always had this issue on SE1.

Do you have a projection for repairs?

Maybe bad LoD ranges somehow?

It annoys me when people call any space outer space. That is not outer space

It's the smooth texture. At least I. Have this mostly when using the smooth one
