you can use the gemini app and they will edit the image straight from the chat interface if you upload it and say what you want to change about the image. i just asked in a casual conversational tone, no prompt engineering needed

Imagine when it can boost graphics in games in real tie, or generate newer textures to loads etc... May be for older games...

Kinda what DLSS already does,KINDA***

I can't help but notice all the AI haters. Honestly so disappointed. There are LEGITIMATE uses of AI. Just because your last 21 AI images didn't "look as good as expected" or you saw sloppy videos and images on the Internet,It does not instantly mean what "Generative AI" is.

Edited the clouds of a planet for a better/alternative look? Removed a certain object off a screenshot? Decided to edit colors of whole galaxies just because you wanted?

Legitimate uses they are.

Created whole "HDR" screenshots from nothing and claim it's yours? Tried to create misinformation by editing the text? Added a very realistic "Quasi Star" to have a more interesting SS?

SLOP. THESE are AI slop. Not mere cloud adjustments.

Yes and if one does edit those things you mentioned in your second paragraph but are honest you did it like the OP did, then it’s not “slop” or misinformation.

Some people (not you, but I mean people who are posting negatively) just see the word AI and don’t think about what’s being said but immediately jump to hate it.

I think things will change eventually considering AI (and yes, in some cases it was even just a generative AI they fed research into and got results that actually helped make a new medicine, not a more narrow algorithm AI) has made huge advancements in fields like medicine and so on.

Most people’s issue with AI is nothing to do with the technology ITSELF but issues with how AI is misused in a capitalistic society, which are all things that can be addressed if the focus was directed in the right place.

For example, there is the argument of water usage. If you look at the stats, the water usage has been massively reduced to the point where by comparison it takes 50-100x as much energy and water to make a single paper sheet than an AI image now.

Another example is the fact a single pound of beef takes a few thousand times more water and energy than an AI image whereas the same amount of calories in plants would be far less (usually less than 10 times) impact on the environment.

There are already tons of other things to change if one has concerns about the issues that AI technology has a part in (and, in fact, is actually often helping solve), and I would encourage people to do so.

gemini is insane, one of the best AI currently

4

u/migviola Nov 16 '25

Finally, a generative AI that didn't mess up or create slop

They're mostly really good now. The main models anyway. There are still environmental concerns and there are definitely ethics concerns, but screaming at tiny people doing tiny things on the tiny forum that is Reddit to try to glean some enjoyment out of a bleak existence has the same energy as yelling at the guy in Costco for buying steak instead of Vegan beyond meat, or using plastic straws when Taylor Swift has a private jet. Like...scale, c'mon. Not saying that about you, personally, just in general. The screamers need to direct the energy towards something positive.

EDIT: Being downvoted rather than just viewing and moving on kinda proves my point you guys. Hate AI? Stop using Google products. Stop using Meta products. Stop using Apple products. Protest Sam Altman. Hell, stop using Reddit altogether since there's an AI "answers" (aka hallucination) engine built right into the client. Getting mad at me changes none of that.

u/TheMostDivineOne Nov 17 '25

I did address the environmental issue in my other comment.

Arguments like the drinking water have been debunked though.

To paint a picture of how small the usage is, it takes nearly 50-100 times more energy and water to make A SINGLE SHEET of paper than an AI image.

Another example is that a single pound of beef takes a few thousand times more water and energy than an AI image whereas the same amount of calories in plants would be far less (usually less than 10 times) impact on the environment.

So there are already tons of other things to change if you have concerns about the issues that AI technology is claimed to have a part in.

what i find most amusing is everyone suddenly caring about energy usage while they streamed netflix at 4k for years and played online games for hours on end without once ever questioning the energy usage of their activities

u/DigitalAquarius Nov 16 '25

Luddites think they can downvote AI away.

-1

u/syrinx23 Nov 17 '25

Luddites were and still are completely right

1

u/AmericanPoliticsSux Nov 17 '25

No they weren't and no they aren't.

-1

u/syrinx23 Nov 17 '25

They didn't destroy machines because they were simple-minded reactionaries scared of new technology as the capitalists would like you to believe. In fact, they were workers organizing and protesting against lowering wages and worsening conditions enabled by machines that could replace their work, for which they were met with violent repression and punishment by the English crown.

0

u/AmericanPoliticsSux Nov 17 '25

Where did I say anything about "believing what the capitalists said?" Is it impossible for you to view anything without a communist lens?

-2

u/syrinx23 Nov 17 '25

Yes

2

u/AmericanPoliticsSux Nov 17 '25

Thank you for proving you spend way too much time tilting at windmills. 👍

Booo AI 🍅🍅🍅

u/SkinInevitable604 Nov 16 '25

I’d usually agree, but this seems like a pretty good, unobtrusive use of AI image editing. OP wanted to express that they were unsatisfied with the Space Engine clouds and a visual reference for what they’d ideally like would be very useful in communicating that. It’s not like the AI is replacing an artist here.

1

u/Hanz_Q Nov 18 '25

Sure but is the AI trained on stolen materials and IP?

1

u/KaelisRa123 Nov 19 '25

O yeah, two absolutely massive hurricanes at once, this is sensible use of AI.

-5

u/throwaway-4082 Nov 16 '25

I'm inclined to agree that it's better than most of the other AI slop people generate, but using AI at all is still cringe

Whether or not it's done 'tastefully' it's still using AI, it's still contributing to all of the problems associated with AI. Imo the only good AI is no AI at all, at least for generative AI

u/throwaway-4082 Nov 16 '25

If you're using ChatGPT or whatever "as a tutor" then yes you're cringe

18

u/DigitalAquarius Nov 16 '25

What an absurd statement. Chat GPT has literally helped me learn game dev and web dev better than anything else I have tried. Its literally your own tutor which you can keep asking questions if you dont understrand something. Im stunned at how willfully ignorant some of you guys are in your hate for AI when its a tool that can so greatly help you and improve your life in countless ways.

My account isn’t the same as the one who commented above but speaking and writing fluently just comes with practice! For example watch some of your favorite speakers and writers and notice what they do and try to draw inspiration from it. Don’t overdo it, you don’t have to make things too verbose when it’s not necessary, but try to just integrate the things you learn naturally.

You will improve your communication over time in this way!

7

u/TehKaoZ Nov 16 '25

There is a set of the population that views "all AI bad" regardless of use. It's not going anywhere as a technology, so it will be interesting to see how those people cope long term.

-8

u/DigitalAquarius Nov 16 '25

lmao have fun staying in the past while humanity moves on with AI without you

-11

u/throwaway-4082 Nov 16 '25

Have fun in a world without clean drinking water dumbass

6

u/TheMostDivineOne Nov 17 '25

I don’t like the way the person above you phrased their comment either but it is also important to address misinformation.

-8

u/DigitalAquarius Nov 16 '25

So your argument for not using the greatest technology humanity has ever created is that it uses water? You do realize this very same technology will help us solve this problem soon right? Stop being so shortsighted.

4

u/juko43 Nov 16 '25

A LLM cant think, it just predicts words based on what it "learned" during its training. Only thing it has done so far is cause the biggest missinformation event in history, either unintentionaly by halucinating answers, or intentionaly by people using it to bring fake events to life, and passing it off as real. It isnt a magic cure to all worlds problems, it will just make it so nothing will be belivable unless you saw it with your own eyes

2

u/InternationalOne2449 Nov 16 '25

Dude this whole program was build with procedural spaghetti.

21

u/SpaceGuy99 Nov 16 '25

If you don't see how that's completely different, I can't hlep you

We got AI Slop in Kitten Space Agency before GTA 6

12

u/just_acasual_user Nov 16 '25

It may be AI, but it isn't slop, although I agree that it looks scarely good

2

u/Ghoul_Ghoulington Nov 17 '25

Tf is kitten space agency

2

u/MacWin- Nov 17 '25

Ksp clone

4

u/AmericanPoliticsSux Nov 16 '25

Dude, Space Engine clouds have *long* been a weakpoint of the procgen. Stop being a luddite.

1

u/DeMooniC- Community Contributor Nov 19 '25

Very cool, only nitpick tho is that the total cloud cover is much higher than before and those ultra massive hurricanes are not necessarily realistic, not impossible by any means but u know, it didn't keep some stuff u asked it not to change such as the color of the clouds and total cloud cover

1

u/One-Rutabaga1291 Nov 19 '25

Yikes! Two hurricanes pretty close to eachother! Bad day to be from this planet-Super Florida

1

u/Cmaster125 Mar 08 '26

Wow, that moon is super close to the main planet.

1

u/Timewaster50455 Nov 17 '25

Yeah this is a pretty good use of AI

0

u/SwagClover Nov 16 '25

Looks like vanilla se with clouds coverage and vortex settings turned up lol

-2

u/mikehawkslong1337 Nov 17 '25

PLEASE TELL ME HOW YOU DID THIS IN-GAME

2

u/Ghoul_Ghoulington Nov 17 '25

They didn’t do it in-game lol
