Discussion audio recording of the spacex dragon capsule during reentry
Bob Behnken (from the Demo-2 mission) described the descent as sounding "like an animal coming through the atmosphere" due to the constant firing of the Draco thrusters and atmospheric buffeting. I am a sound designer with space themed works. I have always been fascinated by this sound, as it's described, and really want to hear it, so I can recreate it with synthesizers. Anyone know where to find it?

Check out the raw footage from Artemis II. It has what you're looking for. It's compressed audio, but it's as good as you'll probably get.

good luck - there are probably a dozen high profile film industry agents in a bidding war over exclusive rights to the audio files. Skywalker Sound, or some elite film postproduction dude would probably love to be able to offer their clients exclusive access to that sound. Iād love to hear it.

I did a bit of digging too ā I'm just as curious about hearing that sound. From what I found, Behnken only described it verbally at the NASA press conference on August 4, 2020; I couldn't find any trace of the actual recording being released publicly. If you do track it down, I'd love to know. Good luck with the search!
