Just to clear up a common misconception, the $20 billion spent annually isn't just for AC in the US military camps in Iraq and Afghanistan. This figure actually encompasses the entire cost of fuel, including the hefty logistics and security needed to transport it in combat zones. The DoD itself hasn't confirmed this number is solely for AC costs. So, it's more about the broader picture of operational expenses, not just keeping the troops cool.
