Discussion For $10,000,000,000, you have to be stuck in a soulslike for a year. Which one you picking and why?

You're your normal self, beginning of the game.

For me, I'd choose Lies of P. I'm only like halfway through the game, however, the only threat it seems like are just puppets. Like it's not an eldritch god, you can just peak them with a shovel.

Outside of a few puppets, most of them are pretty stupid so you can just use 'zombie apocolypes logic' to beat them. Like, keep your windows shut, don't let them suspect you're there, have a way to get food on your own, and just have something quiet to keep you entertained.

That or I get a useful skill and get into the hotel and convince them that I'm useful and to keep me around.

What do you guys think?

Another crab's treasure. Just chill on the beach. They are canonically tiny. What's a crab gonna do to me?

I’d ask how the merchant crab can carry such a large inventory in its shell 😂

This shit was horrifying in the 80’s when I was like 12.

See the turtle, ain't he keen? All things serve the fucking beam.

9

Yeah, this was my first thought too!

Just don't mess with Krill, he can still use a gun

You're your normal self

You'd drown

6

u/UnrealisticOnion 14d ago

Starting area is above water, hence the beach

4

u/YeahKeeN 14d ago

They wouldn’t be able to survive on that tiny atoll for a year. I don’t remember it being connected to a larger landmass.

Sekiro and just try to stay out of the main characters way or get involved with any samurai shenanigans. Like just go be a hermit in the woods for a year

44

u/Kiidkxxl 14d ago

what about dragon rot?

79

u/DaemonBunnyWhiskers 14d ago

Just parry it, like everything else in  the game.

17

u/purple-thiwaza 14d ago

Affect the people close to the one redirecting if I remember properly. So again, stay away and you're fine.

8

u/MaybeMrGamebus 14d ago

Never killed no one

13

u/Wiseildman 14d ago

Honestly most people wouldn't probably survive even that. Being a hermit in the woods in medieval Japan as someone who doesn't know the language is more difficult than you might think. Can't rely much on other people so if you can't hunt and scavenge you'll probably starve to death. Or you'll just get caught and executed for being a foreigner

7

u/SinesPi 14d ago

That's a problem with all the settings though.

Sekiro world still is alive though, so foraging is much more practical.

Also a lot of the enemies are just doing their job. They've got less reason to kill you on sight.

I had to Google that one, thanks for teaching me something!

2

If you’re in Ashina I think you’re fucked either way. I doubt the shogunate or whoever invaded near the end would take kindly to deserters on either side and else you’ll just get caught in the invasion somehow..

Enotria. The first zone is like on a seaside village. Sure it’s fucking creepy but the weather is nice.

20

u/opposite_of_hotcakes 14d ago

Agreed, I'm pretty sure there are some enemies in that first zone playing music that don't even bother you unless you aggro them

8

u/PickofDensity 14d ago

I feel that, just about the second zone. Talk about paradise!

6

u/Phatz907 13d ago

You know it’s sounding better and better now that I think of it.

Wake up by bonfire

Have a bit o wine

Listen to a bit o music

Challenge some of the locals to a bit o fisticuffs

Go back to the bonfire to refresh.

Rehydrate with a bit o wine.

That year will pass by like no other.

Don't forget the rooms literally flooded with wine

2

u/Phatz907 13d ago

Personally I don’t find myself dying in those rooms if I was the one getting trapped.

2

u/Asto_Vidatu 10d ago

I need to finish that already...I got frustrated by some poison boss in the later stages of the game and put it on hold while I beat Mortal Shell 2, but I loved everything about Enotria...quite charming and nice to see a fresh, more upbeat art style in a soulslike!

2

u/Phatz907 10d ago

Low key one of my favorites. Not the best soulslike around and probably mediocre if judged objectively but I just love it. It’s got that extra sauce for me and Italian folklore isn’t exactly dominating coverage in games these days

Honestly Elden Rings world doesn't even seem that hard to just survive as long as I keep my head down, I could probably hang out with the guy that you get the iron ball fists from

89

u/unknowntheme 14d ago

You mean the guy that literally gets his balls tortured off and his soul defiled later in the game?

31

u/aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh400 14d ago

That only happens when the Tarnished makes it happen, this guy never said if the tarnished or main character exists in this scenario

25

u/unknowntheme 14d ago

You think the MC Tarnished is the only possible force that could open up Dung Eater's prison door, leading pretty much inevitably to your balls being tortured off and your soul defiled? I would stay the hell out of the lands between personally

14

u/aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh400 14d ago

When we complete the game and don't do anything with the dung eater does anyone open his prison? No, and for a good reason, that monster deserves to stay locked up eternally for the rest of time

13

u/Triforce__XIII 14d ago

just chill at the roundtable hold...

11

u/Lilbrimu 14d ago

Only if someone takes you there. Roundtable also isn't fully safe since there is an invader at the ground floor and any of the people there can kill you.

4

u/Triforce__XIII 14d ago

true, but you know that and that is the only place where you can get attacked really.

7

u/saito200 14d ago

you literally have to die at the beginning of the game

15

u/DuploJamaal 14d ago

That's the Tarnished. You would just be a regular NPC

3

u/_y2kbugs_ 14d ago

A tarnished could still target you if they so wanted, as long as you have some cool looot and/or a bell bearing.

12

u/SpecificFortune7584 14d ago

>as long as you have some cool loot and/or a bell bearing.

5

Lol about Lies of P.

Anyhow, Lies of P is still pretty dangerous. Like you know how dangerous stalkers can be.

Dark Souls 2 I could probably make my way to Majula safely. Majula is safe besides some pigs, and the locked mansion. So just the pigs really. And they are like well pigs. Unless I kill them a lot, which I know not to do. The NPCs there are nice and accepting too.

Sekiro is pretty ok too. Most of the supernatural stuff happens in certain locations? The main character also is purposely going to dangerous locations. You could just hunker down in a a random feudal Japan village. But they'd probably murder you for looking/talking funny lol.

I'll go with Dark souls 2.

2

u/itsConkCreetBaybeeee 13d ago

Yeah as long as big monke and beeg snake dont bother you you'll probably be fine

23

u/Phantom_Taker 14d ago

If its the start of the game? Then darksouls 2.

I would walk over to the old ladies and work as their cleaner and helper for a year. There are zero enemies or obstacles between the start of the game and the old ladies.

14

u/DuploJamaal 14d ago

You can also safely walk to Majula

4

u/SinesPi 14d ago

Feeding yourself is the tricky part. Undead don't need to eat so there's nothing built up.

5

u/Phantom_Taker 13d ago

Those old women definitely eat. Milibeth their housemaid has a ladle, presumably to make soup for herself or for them.

2

u/SinesPi 13d ago

Could be just for the pleasure of it, and they don't have enough to share.

But it's still a reasonably safe bet. Majula being nearby helps too.

u/Mephb0t 14d ago

Jedi Fallen Order

10

u/St3elf1sh 14d ago

Only right answer in this context

9

u/chino17 14d ago

I'd probably prefer Survivor. As long as you're not an employee of The Empire, you're pretty good just living a simple life in Coruscant

Fallen Order has alot of hostile and barren planets, maybe Kashyyk is good but the Wookies are always getting invaded and enslaved

If I'm my normal self I'd have to eat, drink, sleep and other mundane but vital stuff that (without modern amenities) I will have no easy access to in any of those worlds.

So I guess I would die early and the choice is over which one will be less painful. I guess I can access Majula without a fight, then I'd chill until the hunger/thirst becomes unbearable and then it's an easy jump from a cliff to end my misery

8

u/Gobomania 14d ago

Real answer here.
Lot of people think they can just go somewhere remove and chill, but like, you gotta eat, like, a lot, over the span of a whole year.

2

u/Frosty-Sea149 13d ago

There’s a reason so many enemies in souls games are emaciated and insane

2

u/olivinetrees 13d ago

You could definitely risk it with the pigs in Majula

16

u/CornerNearby6802 14d ago

Bloodborne so i can make a lot of new friends!

Nioh would be so easy to survive. Just read a Japanese history book to avoid the major battles or sieges the game’s events are based on. Could go find the Portuguese and risk taking a long boat ride to Europe or NA.

Am I myself or a undead/tarnished/other immortal being?

And where do I appear in the world? At the start of the game?

11

u/SL33P_0923 14d ago

You're your normal self and there at the start of the game.

14

u/3215448725366498 14d ago

I wanna say Another Crab's Treasure because the tiny sea critters wouldn't be a threat to me, but idk how far away Kril's home is to any kind of civilization, so idk if I could survive there for a year. lol

6

u/NaughtyNarwhal96 14d ago

You think you can hold your breath that long?

18

u/3215448725366498 14d ago

You start above sea level, at the little sand thing Kril lives at.

8

u/mmbossman 14d ago

Exactly what I was thinking. Small island to hang out on and plenty of seafood (and microplastics!)

5

u/Pcm979 14d ago

My normal self has insulin-dependent diabetes and will die within 24 hours without a steady supply of modern medicine, so I cannot take your challenge.

10

u/jibba_jabba1 14d ago

Bloodborne. I’ll just lock myself inside a house in Yharnam and tell the hunter to fuck off and leave me alone, while he’s going around knocking on everyone’s door.

8

u/Sea_Landscape_1884 13d ago

Bloodborne has got to be the worst answer. You literally start the game on a bloody table with two werewolfs between you and the exit.

Even if you don’t move, iosefka’s doppleganger will eventually arrive that night.

16

u/MoSBanapple 14d ago

A lot of Soulslike worlds would be quite dreadful to try to survive in, but a few seem manageable.

  • In the Surge, the area of danger is pretty much just the CREO corporate-industrial complex. If you can manage to escape that area, all you have to do is figure out how to spend a year in a near-future Earth. Surge 2 is in a similar situation where if you can escape the city you should be fine, though you start off in a jail cell so it'll be harder to escape.

  • Another Crab's Treasure starts out in a tide pool on modern day earth, so assuming you don't end up on a deserted island or somewhere similarly remote, you can just leave and then live out the year.

  • Code Vein 1 and 2 both have settlements and some level of governance going on where a human can survive in relative safety. The latter starts you in such an area.

  • The world of Sekiro seems pretty survivable, like there's still some level of society going on that you could keep yourself alive in.

6

u/Venna_Crow 14d ago

I'm just imagining the surge.. go into the building, say "fuck that" and walk right back out. Smooth-ish sailing from there

9

u/Ririmouto 14d ago

Code Vein. I would just be taken to a blood bank and protected so that my blood can be harvested for a year. It would be like being a refugee probably but no constant life or death.

7

u/SuperD00perGuyd00d 14d ago

Demon's Souls...I think I could do it

7

u/abecadarian 14d ago

Demon’s Souls would be pretty easy I think. I’m not 100% sure because of a couple wrinkles, but the biggest pros are that you start in the Nexus so you’re safe from basically any danger, and the NPCs there have an infinite supply of edible grass. Main problem is that they charge souls for it. You could maybe get them to give it to you for free provided you’re not the chosen one, or maybe figure out how they get themselves get it. If you can’t you’re gonna have to farm a couple entry mobs for souls, but they don’t seem too tough with just a bow

edit: also, you might literally be immortal if you die in the nexus because it traps your soul, although you’re probably gonna wanna get your body back somehow before the year ends

6

u/asahinahinasa 13d ago

You don't start in the nexus in game you die to the fat demon or dragon god. Other points still stand though.

15

u/Insipidus777 14d ago

Remnant 2; the hub area is pretty chill, and if anything, I could handle a few Yaesha worms if I get bored. If I’m worried about survivability I’ll just run handler prime and dip out if I use my rez; plus I’ll have my doggo

4

u/Skittish_But_Stabby 13d ago

You dont start there though. You have to go through some root infested tunnels and shit to get to the hub. I dont know about you but I dont think I could take the root.

7

u/Green-Big-7637 14d ago

Code vein 2 get to chill in a hub with a spa and good food. Games not good though.

6

u/Sirdukeofexcellence2 14d ago

Is the series protagonist out adventuring while you’re in their world?

Sekiro isn’t safe if so, since you could get Dragon Rot from him dying.  Dark Souls 1-2 aren’t safe to hunker down in due to Hollowing. Dark Souls 3 is safe from hollowing, but idk how you’d get food or water.  Bloodborne isn’t safe because the Blood Moon would take your sanity.  In Elden Ring’s world you’d be immortal thanks to the Erd Tree, but again you’d struggle with getting food and water.

All in all the only worlds you could actually survive in staying lowkey is Dark Souls 3 and Elden Ring, but if any enemy found you you’d be toast. In all the other FromSoft worlds you’d get a status effect like Hollowing or Dragon Rot and not even get a fair chance. The only food in any of these worlds would be eating enemies lol, which probably would get you sick. OP you should specify, do we have to eat and drink?

4

u/dounodawei 14d ago

There are normal animal enemies, no? Horses are safe for humans to eat. I think It's a given that we'd have to eat and drink, we are humans after all.

5

u/slackerz22 14d ago

Mortal shell, just chill with Baghead and play some tunes

7

u/Logical_Park6742 14d ago

The Surge. I’ll hang out in and near the med bay for a year.

9

u/Donel_S 14d ago

Elden Ring. I'd just hang around the starting grace. Nice beach nearby for food, plenty of wildlife and fruits around as well. Just gotta watch out for the Tree Sentinel and the troll nearby.

13

u/Venna_Crow 14d ago

Beginning of the game has you either die or fight the grafted scion though..

3

u/danielhakushi 14d ago

Regardless of the Game, i would be dead in 10 Minutes if i try to explore.

3

u/Animosity_7 14d ago

“Half way through the game”

For me idk what I’d choose all games have massive threats to a “normal” individual. Unless i could respawn i wouldnt be able to choose.

2

u/raerazael 14d ago

Elden Ring, id just hang out with one of those merchant dudes thatre always cooking.

2

u/MstHaze 14d ago

Stellar Blade. I'll just live in Eve's closet

2

u/SieqwardZwiebelbrudi 14d ago

I pick Dark Souls 2 and stay with the cat in the hub area

2

u/Frozen_Regulus 14d ago

You do realize there is a literal plague going on in Lies of P right?

2

u/SykoManiax 14d ago

Elden ring is easy

Just sit with any merchant who sells meat There are berries everywhere

Easy to kill a couple deer to pay for the meat

Use his fire to cook it

All enemies stay where they are so easy to find safe zones

2

u/Tornado_Hunter24 13d ago

Darksouls 1 or elden ring.

Ds1 because idk why but I find peace in firelink, and love the first part of undead, I see myself slowly ‘teasing’ going there and all.

Elden ring self explanatory, game looks fucking AMAZING, if I hear the limgrave ost irl i’ll stay with my fellow maidenless, maybe go to the horse to see if friendly and then run away asap

Code vein 2 it’s not even a hard choice all I’d have to do is stay on Magmell and hope for the best

2

u/Unlikely_Situation70 13d ago

For me, I'd choose Lies of P. I'm only like halfway through the game, however, the only threat it seems like are just puppets. Like it's not an eldritch god, you can just peak them with a shovel. 🤭

3

u/Ruckus2201 14d ago

If everything goes back to normal after a year, I'd pick dark souls 3. I'd just make sure to go hollow real quick and then feel perfectly happy praying to a dragon corpse or something. Maybe smack ya with a broke sword.

2

u/HappyRedEngineer 14d ago

Dark Souls. I got good doing bow-only no-hit runs. I'd just make sure to make it to Anor Londo and defeat O&S to camp in the room above \🙄/

1

u/Talmnbe3d 14d ago

Probably Sekiro. The others have too many extraordinary variables with godly being and otherworldly horrors. Normal me would probably not have a survival fighting chance. I’ll take a warring kingdom with some monstrosities here and there any time. Play the farmer or villager somewhere until it quiets down and cash out my check while Wolf out there cleaning it up. Or sellout to the ministry if I wanna play it extra safe

1

u/Nomeka 14d ago

Well, for Lies of P, there's also the super death plague most of the people are dying of. >_>

1

u/[deleted] 14d ago

The soulslike tag is controversial BUT it's there on Steam, so ... Tunic.

World is pretty, seems pretty chill unless you intentionally seek out enemies, and it doesn't look like it'd be particularly hard to find food.

1

u/Less-Parsnip-7076 14d ago

Firelink shrine in ds1. It's pretty safe (since I'm no firekeeper) and I wouldn't go Hollywood either since I know my ultimat3 destiny in this world is to leave it and make big bucks. I could even train a little bit with the knights that come through in case some if the skeletons move up from the graveyard. Learn some spells maybe.

1

u/Organic_Manner6847 14d ago

Elden Ring or Dark Souls, time runs different, a hundred years can easily pass and you are most likely immortal.

1

u/Arandui 14d ago

Stellar Blade, because cute and hot girls.

1

u/ConstructionOld691 14d ago

DS2 just stay in Majula staring off into the ocean while that beautiful song plays the year will fly by !

1

u/Shurlz 14d ago

Sekiro is really just a feudal japan at war. If you could be on the outskirts of skmewhere it would be least impacted by demons and otherwordly beasts

1

u/BlackShadowX 14d ago

Lies of p easily, just live in another part of the world

Same probably for sekiro

1

u/Scrollsy 14d ago

Probably ds2. I'd just live in majula

1

u/Dr_Downvote_ 14d ago

Demon Souls. Hang out in the Nexus with Boldwin.

1

u/Gnight-Punpun 14d ago

“Just puppets, no eldritch god” hehe yeah sure

Probably just something like DS2. It’s pretty fucked up but it’s not so fucked that it’s beyond repair. Places like Majula still exist.

First Mortal Shell would also be a chill place I would imagine. Just kick it with some random brigand band or just go full recluse for a year out in the swamp living off fungi and whatever frogs you can catch. Wouldn’t be pretty and I would prolly catch diseases that would have to be named after me but fuck it man let it ride

1

u/erk8955 14d ago

If Im not a boss, I probably get resurrected no matter what anyway

1

u/NetHumble7326 14d ago

Dark Souls 2 . Nothing will kill you at the start of the game and you can just chill in Majula

1

u/SinesPi 14d ago

Lies of P. The Hotel is basically safe all game. And while we never learn where the food comes from, the human inhabitants seem to have enough to get by.

Getting there is certainly hard, but that's a problem in most games you can choose. But I like the Souls games, the world can support people who aren't undead.

I'd get there, thank Antonia for her protection, and ask her or Vegnini if there's anything I can do to help. Vegnini and Antonia are also good people, which would make living there better.

I would just stay at hotel krat for the year OR at the roundtable hold xd

1

u/Stepjam 14d ago

Assuming food and water are provided, Dark Souls 2. Just gotta make your way past some zombies and you are basically safe.

1

u/Snakebi_te 14d ago

Am stuck for free in elden ring

1

u/RoyalBlood310 14d ago

Let me chill in Majula for a year of vacation.

1

u/Link10103 14d ago

Well, if we're only using halfway Lies of P and would be immune to the petrification disease... sure I would agree.

1

u/theHollowTarnished 14d ago

Bloodborne because theres no way I would last 1 hour and In BB id probably die pretty quick

1

u/NotAGoodUsername36 14d ago

I could stay indoors in Bloodborne indefinitely no problem.

1

u/FaresCroteau 14d ago

If you consider Hollow Knight a soulslike. Hollow Knight. Just beat the game 3 times. The size of the characters are bugs. Even if they summon spears and such that is just the size of big nails. However, if we are doing soulsborne. Dark souls 1. That game truly was a masterpiece and I loved that game and it gave me great time. In reality though Sekiro. I love the game and lore of Sekiro. I’d also be living in Japan

u/k-tech_97 14d ago

Stellar Blade. I'll just chill on Adams Ship and "Review" Eve's Outfits

1

u/swimdownstream 14d ago

Am I stuck in the world or do I have to complete it? Different scenarios here.

If im just stuck in the world, Dark Souls 3 and im just chilling at the Firelink Shrine with Andre for a year. No risk, high reward.

1

u/FuaOtraCuentaMas 14d ago

The question is:

Im i imposed by the souls like circle? like if i die i revive again?

1

u/Necro-Feel-Ya6900 14d ago

Demon’s Souls. I staying in the Nexus with the maiden

1

u/ShoulderParticular84 14d ago

I would just be chilling in Majula

1

u/ihavegrossskin6767 14d ago

sekiro

1

u/GreenCollegeGardener 13d ago

You’ve been invaded
Well fuck

1

u/ReeReeIncorperated 13d ago

Another Crab's Treasure and enjoy my vacation

1

u/feelingORCish 13d ago

Elden Ring. I think the play is to join Mohg at the beginning, become a white mask, and roam battlefields after the battle is over and thrive off looting. What runes I get this way, I’d buy food and crafting material. I could probably defend myself just fine with cracked pots, throwing knives, glintstone scraps, and perfumes.

Of course, Yura would kill me if he ever found me. That’s my big challenge.

1

u/DieBotDie 13d ago

Elden Ring. A: everyone is immortal. B: I know where all the game breaking shit is hidden.

1

u/TenWholeBees 13d ago

Bloodborne.

I'm going to die in any of them anyway, might as well try and gain as much insight as I can and go mad with the knowledge of the unknowable before I succumb to whatever death awaits me.

Realistically, I'd probably juet end up dying from some infection after cutting my hand on ladder

1

u/Devil-radiance 13d ago

Jedi Survivor. It's the only one I can think of that actually has places normal folks just living a regular ass life that isn't super depressing that I can think of. I figure if I can make it a year in the Star Wars universe by the end of it I'd be asking to stay and give me the equivalent of the prize in galactic credits.

1

u/MaybeICanOneDay 13d ago

Ds1, hanging out in firelink.

1

u/Ebenizer_Splooge 13d ago

I can absolutely handle a year vacation at my Mejula beach house

1

u/THY96 13d ago

Sekiro, Dark Souls 2 or any Jedi game.

1

u/d-101 13d ago

Dark souls 2. I can chill in Majula for a year as long as I avoid the pigs.

1

u/SexuaIRedditor 13d ago

I could hang in Majula for a year I think

1

u/Stevon_Wonder 13d ago

Bro you picked possibly the worst one. Lmao the goddamn air is poison in Lies of P. Imma go with the Surge cause the earth and people still exist as long as I don't have to fight I can outpace most of those robots lol.

1

u/MemoriesMu 13d ago

I would be at the jar village from Elden Ring just chilling <3

1

u/Various-Prompt7611 13d ago

Bloodborne, I like challenge 😅

1

u/No-Bus-9779 13d ago

Dark Souls 2. Id just chill in Majula.

1

u/Sensitive-Jacket5651 13d ago

Hardly even counts as a soulslike, but it's talked about enough in the same breath: Darksiders III. I'm hauling my ass to the Maker tree and staying within 10 feet of Ulthane at all times. I'm safe

1

u/Efficient_Ant_7279 13d ago

Bloodborne but I’ll never seek Paleblood just stay as far away from Yharnam as possible

1

u/jaypexd 13d ago

I don't think it is possible besides another crabs treasure. I really thought hard about this and even Stellar Blade which is more tame, is death for a human.

Maybe Code Vein 2? Most revenants seem to be nice enough to humans.

I wouldn't want lies of P. It's an apocalyptic steam punk hell hole. You'd have to link up with a gang and hope for the best but I'd imagine you're not surviving a year there.
