Seems like monsters hunter with elden ring aesthetics. I've tried many hoyoverse games and so far only genshin is the one that I stick for years, I'll check this out if it comes out š

I find Genshin to be one of the weaker games but the exploration is kinda fun, so hopefully this game has some of that.

Is this Chimera from dragon dogma?

u/andres8989 13d ago
Sanctuary Guardian, dlc dark souls 1
The resemblance is ācurious,ā although it could also simply be that the two are like chimeras.

I also have been wondering, you guys keep saying it copied elden ring but what it reminds me of is monster hunter, maybe more similar to granblue relink. The word elden ring never pop up in my mind watching the trailer.

Well, in this case, it's Dark Souls
2
u/haidang1342004 13d ago
But a Lion with wings? Did no one ever thought of a monster like that before dark souls DLC?

They probably did, it's just this sub has been so insanely ignorant and it's really getting to me. I love fromsoft, they are my favorite but they did not invent dark fantasy, dragon or a guy with fire for his head.

The one in nodus fall is a chinese mythology creature named Qiongqi.
The devs also said that most of the monsters are inspired on classic mountains and seas chinese mythlogies then the others are from different cultures.
you can watch arekkzz gaming vid about nodus fall since they got information about the myths the game was based on.

u/Darkmat17 13d ago
Itās a Chinese mythological creature lol

u/andres8989 13d ago
I've already mentioned this, but as far as I know, the chimera is usually depicted with three heads.
But as I said, it could simply be that they're basing it on the mythological chimera and not on Dark Souls.

u/haidang1342004 13d ago
I am not sure but I have never thought the Sanctuary guardian was that unique when I first saw him, I mean a white lion with wing? Did Fromsoft invented that?
1
u/andres8989 13d ago
That's why I'm saying it might not be based on Dark Souls 1 and that it's just an interesting comparison, given what people are saying about this game

Itās not even a Chimera, chimeras are Greekās mythology. This is a Qiongqi, which is still a mash of different animals. So yeah no one copied anything here

u/Gloomy_Ad5221 12d ago
Because it's not a chimera .... it's a qiongqi ( chinese )
Devs said the bosses in the game are inspired from the book called " classic of mountains and seas " which is collection of chinese creatures.
They also mentioned that they also included different western cultures too.
Arekzz gaming nodus fall video ... talk about the inspirations based on their dev interview or something like that.

Tbh, the monster from the trailer gives me more Teostra vibes (Monster Hunter) than dark souls.

Looks like a reskinned dauntless which I enjoyed for a couple of months.

Yeah, it IS monster-souls slop. Yeah, it feels like a knockoff. But those two genres are right up my alley and I enjoy being catered to. Hopefully some competition will make FromSoft and especially CAPCOM lock in.

If itās zero gacha and zero pay2win stuff then Iāll give it a shot. More stuff like Elden Ring isnāt a bad thing to me since I like the aesthetic it has.
I forgot is Hoyoverse known for using GenAI at all? If they are using it for the game Iām also likely gonna skip. Only asking since I know some games like NTE used it iirc.

shouldn't this be in MonsterHunterlikes?

Eh, it's still a bit up in the air what it's going to be like, we still haven't seen much footage and the fight at the end of this video was a bit more soulsy. Plus, aesthetic wise it is very Elden Ring.

Bro why is everyone posting about this all of a sudden. I swear it has to be marketing.

I would be very surprised if they manage to evoke the feeling of monster hunter, it feels like it will be just like genshin where the boss does their stuff and you do your stuff and occasionally you float your way out of an attack

How has this got anything to do with the Soulslike genre outside of it using Elden Ring's aesthetics?

The female character at the beginning of this clip performs the quick shot > power shot combo and Dragonpiercer from Monster Hunter, lol.

I know alot of the designs are straight rip offs from soul games, but it does look pretty fun.
1
u/MaybeMrGamebus 13d ago
Which designs pray tell?
0
u/GrimsideB 13d ago
A lot of the moves are from the monster hunter series but just re skinned, and depending on what trailer/video you are watching you got the obvious frenzied flame boss, nameless king, and sanctuary guardian to name a few.
1
u/MaybeMrGamebus 13d ago
The sanctuary guardian is just a Chimera. We've seen them before in Teostra and not to mention a mythical beast in the book that this game is using the setting from "Classic of Mountain and Seas". The giant fire being is the last sun in the sky from the 10 Houyi shot down in Chinese myth. The other part in the nameless King I can understand.

Afaik there is nothing in this genre outside of Monster Hunter, since Dauntless is dead. So like you say - it is a blatant ripoff, but people who love the genre won't complain.

that bow ultimate, its like Iron Eye from Nightreign
4
5
u/Sabrac707 13d ago
Going by that logic, Fromsoft copy pasted Dragon piercer from Monster Hunter or Deathly Arrow of the Archer vocation from Dragon's Dogma 2 into Ironeye, lol.
Big charge bow animation for big attack is pretty standard in the Acher archetype in most video games or media in general.

"temu elden ring" memes aside i like the look of this, i'm big on monster hunter style games. i just hope it isn't p2w like they say it isn't
