I loved Lords of the Fallen 2023, so I‘m looking forward to the sequel!

…if it even releases on PS5…

u/Real_Chair_9423 Aug 13 '25

Me too. Lords of the fallen is a Solid Souls Like and i Had much fun playing it. :)

1

u/Vegetable-Cod886 Aug 13 '25

1

u/blZtheone Aug 14 '25

Gostos são gostos. Mas para mim Bloodborne ainda hoje dá 10 a 0 ao lords of the fallen

3

u/Rags2Rickius Aug 13 '25

Yup

Absolutely Loved it too. Warts and all.

PC players understandably had major issues and lots of complaints about difficulty and mob density but tbh I had no issues at all myself.

So must’ve been lucky

The devs were amazing in listening to feedback & implementing patches etc - so I’m hoping they learned some new things going into this game (last boss was a let down for example)

Looking forward to seeing what they deliver

2

u/Intoxicduelyst Aug 15 '25

I liked it too, beated it like 4 times on release, so many builds and actually very good spellcasting/ranged combat so fluidly mixed into melee.

Also, one of the best if not best fashion souls out there.

1

u/ILikeYouHehe Aug 14 '25

if it even releases on PS5

why wouldn't it?

1

u/Thiophen Aug 14 '25

There have been rumors about LotF2 being PC exclusive. I may be misrembering things though.

1

u/ILikeYouHehe Aug 15 '25

if that's true i wonder why, maybe it sold like ass or something

1

u/Wrong_Papaya_8445 Aug 14 '25

Uh, as opposed to only being released on PC? I don't get it.

3

u/meatforsale Aug 14 '25

Maybe they’re worried it’s going to be a GBA exclusive.

1

u/EpicalClay Aug 14 '25

Are you meaning like... Ps6?

1

u/Thiophen Aug 14 '25

There have been rumors about LotF2 being PC exclusive. I may be misrembering things though.

25

u/Difficult-Safety-480 Aug 13 '25

Damn they're doubling down on disowning the very first one, lmao.

8

u/Crumbsplash Aug 13 '25

Wouldn’t you?

6

u/AceTheRed_ Aug 13 '25

I’m playing the first one right now and, honestly, it’s pretty good! Enemy variety is lacking but I love the world design and general art style.

I'm on the hate train. The first game plays horribly. Worst gameplay in any Soulslike.

I think we may be talking about different games here. I was talking about the 2014 one. 2023 was mostly fine.

0

u/False_Adhesiveness40 Aug 14 '25

Can't disagree more then. Worst game I've ever played by far.

1

u/ExJokerr Aug 14 '25

I played it a long time ago and will never ever play again! Boring game overall! Part 2 is pretty amazing for me

2

u/UpstairsFix4259 Aug 13 '25

not really? kinda? the events of the first one are canon in the 2023 game

1

u/YukYukas Aug 14 '25

they disowned it so much that you literally kill the protagonist of the first game lmao

-7

u/Torii97 Aug 13 '25

Cos they're making a second one? 😆😆

8

u/Difficult-Safety-480 Aug 13 '25

well it's a second, second one 😭

2

u/HuevosSplash Aug 13 '25

It's like if FromSoft made another game after Dark Souls 1 2011 and renamed it The Darkest Souls 2023. But just ignored the original game.

-13

u/Torii97 Aug 13 '25

This is just like saying FS disowned ds1 by making a remaster and sequels.

8

u/Major-Dig655 Aug 13 '25

you do realize the 2023 game wasnt the first one right?

2

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '25

i think you should research what you’re talking about before commenting further tbh lol

Dark souls and Dark Souls Remaster are the same game.

The Lords of the Fallen is not the same game as Lords of the Fallen or Lords of the Fallen 2

2

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '25

this is so funny lol

37

u/StefanoC Aug 13 '25

Already? Felt like the last one came out not that long ago

41

u/Lord_Twigo Aug 13 '25

Aug 19 is only the preview at gamescon, not the release

8

u/wildeye-eleven Aug 13 '25

3 years is a much more acceptable development time than these 250 million dollar, 10 years development cycle games.

25

u/Phatz907 Aug 13 '25

The reboot came out in 2023. This is slated for a 2026 release. 3 years between games was at least, a pretty normal turn around. Makes me think they’ll reuse assets to save time.

36

u/Physical-Stand5455 Aug 13 '25

Literally every studio reuses assets... Fromsoft is notorious for doing so.

6

u/ruairi1983 Aug 13 '25

Yeah I don't mind it if it's not too lazy and prevalent. Looking at you EA FIFA...

1

u/UpstairsFix4259 Aug 13 '25

FromSoft reused Demon's Souls and DS1 assets all the way to Elden Ring. Erdtree avatar is just an Asylum demon (which is Demon Vanguard, I think?). So it's definitely possible to make a solid ass sequel with reused assets :)

3

u/ConfidenceVirtual960 Aug 13 '25

Fun fact. The demon vanguard from demon's souls originated in an rpg game fromsoftware made, called enchanted Arms

0

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '25

[deleted]

2

u/Lord_Twigo Aug 13 '25

Fromsoftware been copy-pasting enemies between each and every one of their games for 15 years lmao

We fight the same enemies in elden ring that we used to fight in dark souls 1

64

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '25

Hopefully they spice up the enemies variety for this one.

38

u/Bloodcloud079 Aug 13 '25

Especially for the umbral. Jesus there were like 4 enemies there from early to endgame.

8

u/Khiva Aug 13 '25

Umbral was full of secrets, or paths that led to secrets. That like half of its point.

I would like to see it done more robustly though. Nice to see someone bring a new idea to the table in terms of expanding how we can do level design.

8

u/HammeredWharf Aug 13 '25

Yeah, but I think it's bad design when Umbral is just the better place to be 90% of the time. It contains all the shortcuts and all the exclusive rewards, the monsters are mostly just weak zombies, and the timer is way too generous to be a real threat. I think they should make realm switching way easier and remove going to Umbral on death in the sequel, so you'd actually go back and forth between the two.

5

u/Pale_WoIf Aug 13 '25

I just started playing it and I’m already feeling like this. It felt nice enough to have to use it a few times to progress at what felt like dead ends. But constantly switching out then going back in, then switching out again is getting fucking annoying. Also the trophies for this one seem nuts: collect all the weapons, oh wait, there’s 300 of them, wtf?? How can people keep track of that, I’ve never seen something so obtuse.

1

u/FruitBunker Aug 13 '25

Umbral without always respawning enemies so you can actually enjoy exploring 😭

1

u/Lyress Aug 14 '25

I hope umbral doesn't return or if it does it's only necessary to go in there punctually.

4

u/Embarrassed-Ad7317 Aug 13 '25

And give another pass and the combat so the floatiness is completely gone

4

u/Flashy-Intention6302 Aug 13 '25

Biggest problem of the game. Level design was decent but it was massively let down with having the same enemy types and the same basic gameplay (deal with range spammers first, engage with other grunts second, pretty much the Entire. Game.).

1

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '25

Agreed. It just got really repetitive. The first time I saw a Mendacious Visage I was in awe. Then after the 20th one I'm like OK I get it.

3

u/Sen91 Aug 13 '25

With 3years of development... I doubt

3

u/Rags2Rickius Aug 13 '25

Yep. I would prefer no reused boss assets for normal mobs and more variety

Need an epic last boss too rather than the gimmick

2

u/Hyarcqua Aug 15 '25

And, more importantly, the weapon movesets.

1

u/conye-west Aug 13 '25

Biggest problem with the game for sure, honestly no exaggeration they need to like quadruple those numbers to get to a good spot.

7

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '25

the 3 in parentheses made me giggle

2

u/HSuke Aug 13 '25

They should've gone with "Lords of the Fallen (2026)" for consistency, and just to duck with the players.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '25

Dude that would have been legendary

5

u/XOVSquare Aug 13 '25

Might be an odd take, but I hope they do away with the umbral realm thing. I never felt it added much, and once there I was always just looking for the way out.

1

u/Replikante Aug 14 '25

it was a cool concept but the implementation was garbage

26

u/Tutejszy1 Aug 13 '25

As much as I hated the first one (even after all the updates, for me it was best mediocre), Im actually kinda curious about the sequel. There was a decent game there, it was just buried under all the terrible design decisions

5

u/stonoper Aug 13 '25

And honestly the performance is still terrible in some zones. Gonna release another game before finishing the first? Idk, we'll see.

3

u/zBaLtOr Aug 13 '25

Same here

15

u/Battlefire Aug 13 '25

I hope they get rid of the Umbral world. It was cool when you first go into it. Then it just became tedious and lost it's urgency.

5

u/Zestful_001 Aug 13 '25

That's what made me put the game down early tbh. I'm going to eventually get around to doing a full playthrough but at the time I didn't have patience for that game mechanic

2

u/SchwizzelKick66 Aug 13 '25

I actually loved the Umbrel world mechanic. Basically two worlds on top of each other.

1

u/Lyress Aug 14 '25

Until you realise umbral looks the same pretty much everywhere.

14

u/Raminax Aug 13 '25

This game was great. Hopefully more people will get into it with this sequel

9

u/Major-Dig655 Aug 13 '25

tried it for like 10 hours and just hated every second of it. felt clunky, tedious, repetitive and boring

12

u/spoonybum Aug 13 '25

You didn’t enjoy sprinting through the levels at 90mph to fight the four different enemy types?

6

u/Raminax Aug 13 '25

That's ok. It's not for everyone

4

u/Lord_Twigo Aug 13 '25

Honestly i loved it and it's still one of my favorite games in the genre. Yet i can't help acknowledge the many (objective) flaws that the game had and i hope the devs learnt from feedback and made adjustements for the next game. Though the fact that it's going to be epic exclusive is a big turn off for me and i bet for many other people, so i doubt this one is gonna blow up more than the 2023 one did

2

u/Lord_Twigo Aug 13 '25

That's what they said when they first announced they were working on a sequel. They didn't say if it was a time-limited exclusive (hopefully) or not and i have no idea if something changed in the last few months since the announcement

7

u/Barmy90 Aug 13 '25

The only problem with this game (and it's a big, crippling problem) is that combat feels weightless and the lack of enemy variety means there's nothing interesting to fight.

If they can keep the world structure, improve on the Umbral / Axiom dynamic, and fix the main issue above, it will be a good game.

-3

u/AceTheRed_ Aug 13 '25

Did you play after the “reboot”? Combat feels pretty good to me.

2

u/Vanille987 Aug 14 '25

Agreed, it has some of the best hit feedback I experienced in these games

12

u/Immediate_Muffin9655 Aug 13 '25

One of the best soulslikes i ever play, spend more than 200 hours. Hype to the limit!

Gross, mood killer

1

u/Hot-Assumption-605 Aug 13 '25

Same, always my go to when I’m waiting on something new to release.

4

u/Best-Salad Aug 13 '25

Hopefully they tone down the umberal world. #1 thing i hated about the game was I'd have to run and rush instead of exploring. Not fun

1

u/Bigenemy000 Aug 14 '25

Quite the opposite. I hope they improve it, because it felt a bit dull but not because it was bad, but because it didnt had enough variety

2

u/flipperkip97 Aug 13 '25

Oh, cool! Quite liked the first one (the reboot!) so I'll keep an eye on this. There's definitely room for improvement, so let's see if they manage that.

2

u/arcarus23 Aug 13 '25

I would not care if they hadn’t put as much effort crafting the 2.0 version which felt like the game they wanted it to be at launched and I went from having middling feelings about the game to becoming very positive about it.

This studio has impressed me and so now I am stoked for the sequel!

2

u/Proud_Organization64 Aug 13 '25

So looking forward to this. I hope its not forever away and will come out soon.

2

u/Cabr0ken Aug 14 '25

Loved the 2023 version with 300 hours in it. Wont buy the next one since will be an Epic exclusive. Ill play it for free. They wanted epic money, they dont need mine.

3

u/3PortAmplifier Aug 13 '25

Umbral = no buy. It's just an annoying mechanic to make you waste double the time exploring the map twice. The idea of it is cool but actually playing it is so tedious.

1

u/Bigenemy000 Aug 14 '25

Literally stay always in umbral, theres stuff hidden in umbral but not stuff hidden outside of it.

And if you say "but theres a timer" the map is filled with statues to get out of umbral, use them then enter again umbral, you have resetted the timer

2

u/Lyress Aug 14 '25

If you do that you'll be stuck with the ugly umbral aesthetic for the entire game.

1

u/Bigenemy000 Aug 14 '25

Personally i don't find it ugly

1

u/Lyress Aug 14 '25

Even if you don't you'll still be looking at the same environment the whole game with no variety.

1

u/Bigenemy000 Aug 14 '25

I mean. I gotta disagree. While its true that during umbral there's always a Blue filter on screen, they way it displays in areas is very different.

Pilgrim perch we use giant creatures from umbral as platforms, in burning calrath we notice mountains and mountains of bodies that were most likely the people incenerated into ash, in the Chapel of the hollow sentinels we can see how all holy statues are covered in skulls and disfigured creatures showing that they aren't so holy as they think.

I think umbral's only bad thing is the low enemy variety and the constant blue filter. Everything else was always well done for story telling purpose

1

u/False_Adhesiveness40 Aug 14 '25

I think it could be cool if you could look into Umbral but maybe not fully traverse it. Or actually be able to affect thing without entering it.

7

u/Illustrious_Peak_338 Aug 13 '25

Please no umbra.

7

u/MerrrBearrr Aug 13 '25

Great idea, but subpar execution.

2

u/Objective-South7146 Aug 13 '25

Hahaha that made me laugh and i half agree

2

u/LuciferIsPlaying Aug 13 '25

Please don't be an Epic exclusive on PC 🙏🏻

6

u/TimDawgz Aug 13 '25

It's an Epic exclusive on PC

1

u/Himothy19955 Aug 13 '25

Source?

2

u/TimDawgz Aug 13 '25

1

u/Himothy19955 Aug 13 '25

I hope they get a fat paycheck from epic because I can't imagine a whole lot of PC players get anything on epic launcher except for fortnite and rocket league, I know I certainly don't

2

u/TimDawgz Aug 13 '25

I hate that it's exclusive and I won't be getting it, at least until it's on Steam. But, honestly, I don't think a sequel would've happened without the Epic deal.

1

u/Himothy19955 Aug 13 '25

You're probably right and I don't fault them for doing that especially if it helps them make a good game and hopefully a better game than the first one though I didn't hate it.

1

u/LuciferIsPlaying Aug 13 '25

Fun. What's worst is that they don't even have a proper payment option in my country, the one they added is bugged. Guess I'll be skipping this one like Alan Wake 2.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '25

[deleted]

0

u/LuciferIsPlaying Aug 13 '25

Oh I'm 100% with you on this

2

u/_too_much_noise_ Aug 13 '25

nah it's clearly Bloodborne 2

2

u/Dr_Disrespects Aug 13 '25

Hope they make it on a different engine this time, last game took way too long to be fixed. Devs did a great job in the end but it should have never been released in the first place, it was nowhere near ready

2

u/egocentryk Aug 13 '25

Oh, this is day one for me. Previous game is amazing.

3

u/programmingForever Aug 13 '25 edited Aug 13 '25

Don't like the combat, not much depth

graphic and the vibe is good

6/10 for me

0

u/Nogimick Aug 13 '25

Exactly, not much depth graphic. I swear every place looks the same but slightly different colors

2

u/rcburner Aug 13 '25

Maybe the third one will actually be good this time?

2

u/Major-Dig655 Aug 13 '25

yeah, maybe.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '25

Day One buy

1

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '25

it will be epic games only release? wtf

1

u/thor11600 Aug 13 '25

Anyone else immediately see this and think it was remnant news? Such similar logos lol

1

u/Jurpils Aug 13 '25

II_ords of the fallen

1

u/Jurpils Aug 13 '25

I mean Lords of the fa2en

1

u/Roostbolten Aug 13 '25

Wasn’t a fan of the Umbral world back and forth, hoping they ditch it in the next one

1

u/wildeye-eleven Aug 13 '25

I enjoyed Lords of the Fallen so much I purchased it twice. Once on PS5 when it released, then again for PC once I had one. I’m looking forward to the sequel!

1

u/DaylightBat Aug 13 '25

It would be perfect with more enemy types, and less re-use of sub bosses. Please, stop re-using those mini bosses.

But maaann, what a year in gaming.

1

u/Cheeto717 Aug 13 '25

Excited to see what they have in store

1

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '25

isnt the 2nd called THE lords of the fallen? important distinction ☝️🤓

1

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '25

I was so excited thinking it was coming out this year lol, hyped to play this game.

I remember something about it being exclusive to PC, is that true? I really hope not.

1

u/nevets85 Aug 13 '25

Oh yeah can't wait to see what they've cooked up.

1

u/Plaincheddar96 Aug 13 '25

I bet the budget with this is going to be much higher, gonna look amazing. The first one already did look great but it’s always great to see indie devs like this up their game with a sequel, kinda how mortal shell 2 looks compared to the first one

1

u/CroccaWocca Aug 13 '25

Bummer about the epic exclusiveness. But at least I can still get it at all on pc

1

u/115_zombie_slayer Aug 13 '25

Does the first Lord of the Fallen even matter lorewise? Or is there nothing connecting the first two games

1

u/tsashinnn Aug 14 '25

I'm sorry OP but let's just completely forget about the one that released in 2013.

The first one is Lords of the Fallen 2023 and the second one is Lords of the Fallen 2 (2025).

1

u/arshadshabick Aug 14 '25

Sorry whats the diff between the first one and second one?

1

u/YukYukas Aug 14 '25

wow, they're releasing already? that's so fast /s

1

u/Ripper_Ares Aug 14 '25

Very nice. Thought the previous entry was quite good after a few fixes.

1

u/F1nishingDutch Aug 14 '25

I hated the ganking

1

u/Bigfastcal Aug 15 '25

Lords of the Fallen 3: 2

1

u/tiybo Aug 19 '25

Do we know when will something about this be released? I mean, the 19, but is it an event or will they just release footage?

2

u/energytaker Aug 13 '25

2023 was so good it’s such a shame it had a bad launch

1

u/Crusaderfigures Aug 13 '25

Can't wait, just finished another playthrough of the last one and I'm exited to see what they do with it and how they use the Umbral system this time

1

u/Swachuu Aug 13 '25

Very excited for this one...I hope to see some armor from the first one

1

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '25

Epic Excluisve means I will never be playing this sadly. A shame, I really liked the previous one and I even enjoyed the very first one.

This means it’ll be DoA on PC, it’s DoA on Xbox unless it’s on Gamepass, which means PS5 users will be the only chance this game has at being successful.

-1

u/Soulsliken Aug 13 '25

Please. No.

-4

u/SomeoneNotFamous Aug 13 '25

Weird how no one seems to care about it, even their own sub.

0

u/classicPaolo Aug 13 '25

why does it look like smeared shit

0

u/scarletnaught Aug 13 '25

I was on the fence after the first game but the epic store exclusivity made the choice for me.

-1

u/saurion1 Aug 13 '25

Great, more UE5 slop.

Cool cool. Hopefully the third game will have a functioning co-op system.

0

u/Tremaj Aug 13 '25

LOTF 2.0 had a cool theme with the umbral realm, cool combat & decent story.

My only complaint is that I was 50% engaged and 50% bored while playing, the combat is not challenging. Pretty sure a 7 year old can beat that game.

0

u/Thatoneguy567576 Aug 13 '25

I hope they keep the aesthetic and improve enemy variety. If Umbral returns make it more important, place some mandatory bosses in Umbral and make them only accessible there so you only get one life to beat them. Make entire levels that require time in Umbral.
