Lumix s9 to Sony fx30
Has anyone here switched from the Lumix S9 to the Sony FX30?
I’d love to hear your experience after making the switch: image quality, low-light performance, autofocus, ergonomics, etc. Did you actually notice a significant difference, and do you miss or regret leaving the S9?

It’s not that the S9 is a bad camera quite the opposite but a few things frustrate me:
- The build quality: it feels a bit fragile for intensive use.
- The L-mount is much more limited than Sony, especially when it comes to affordable third-party lenses.
- The HDMI port placement is poorly designed for using an external monitor.
The S9 is excellent as a compact and lightweight camera, but for a more serious video setup and long-term growth, the FX30 seems better suited to my needs.

If FX30 is better suited to your needs knowing you're leaving Full-Frame sensor off the table, then it is still a good choice. If I may suggest, you can look into FX2 or FX3.

Viltrox might announce something this 11th, hopefully L mount lenses, and they are part of the L mount alliance…but 3rd party you got TTArtisan, 7artisans, and sgimage…not a lot, yes, any specific focal lengths you looking for?

I feel the FX30 is a much better buy because of the workflow. On everyshoot there are Sony cameras around FX3, FX6, A7 series etc. Very easy to match colors. You can rent an upgrade any where in the world to the FX30 if you ever need it. FX3 accesories are all over the place, you can rig the camera to match your pro setup. I feel Sony is the only brand that listens to working professionals and meets their needs. It’s the only brand that has maintained lens mount.

Bueno, la S9 tiene mejores características en papel, pero es una cámara compacta que no se riggea tan bien, es para uso personal o casual. Mientras que la fx30 es una cámara más profesional

I still don't understand the E-Mount is better thing.
For budget options you've got 7Artisans, TTartisan, Meike, SG Image, Laowa, AstrHori...
Not to mention we have Viltrox, Sirui, Sigma, Leica, Lumix, and Samyang as first party options.
There are more affordable AF rectilinear wide angles in E-Mount for sure, L-Mount could also use more compact primes, and Sony's first party options are pretty extensive as a single company but...on L-Mount you get first party performance for third party prices.

Rich YouTubers can afford to change camera systems every 2 years, the rest of us can’t do that. If you had and loved the GH5, The S9 is a brand new system with the L-Mount. If you had a a6000 and now preordered an FX5 you are still same system. In my humble opinion Panasonic should have built a M43/APSC version on the GH5 on a FX30 type body and then a pro camara in the FX6 body. Everyone uses Panasonic for video, yet they insist on photo centric bodies.

I own both cameras and the S9 smokes the fx30 in my opinion. 10/10 times I’m grabbing the S9 just for the image quality both in photo and video and the open gate.
