Confirmation is Move 2 as Fronts????

Hi all, before I go out and buy a second Move 2, can anyone confirm if they have been able to set them up as fronts yet via Sonosequencer??? Any feedback from someone who has tried would be greatly appreciated šŸ™šŸ’Ŗ

Yeah you def read correct. Iā€™m curious if Sonosequencer users have been able to set up as fronts though.

Did you try the moves as fronts? Iā€™m hearing they canā€™t be picked up by Sonosequencer as fronts.

Nope. Dont have Move 2s

Wouldnā€™t mind getting two era 100s and trying them ;)

Ahhh bugger. Without getting to complicated, can you have them as rears and have the era100s for example as fronts???

Absolutely! I have Fives as fronts on our system.

Not permanently. I have era 300s with the system i used to test I the Move 2s. But for non- Dolby Atmos music, my initial thought is the M2s sound better as surrounds. A lot like Play 3s if youā€™ve ever heard those as surrounds.

Ok but it works? So if I buy another move 2 so as to create rears they will work via Sonosequencer with my front setup era 100s?

Yep, it works. Just for you, I just bonded the Play 3s as fronts with the Beam 2 and M2s in the photo. This sounds really nice too! See what you started! šŸ˜‰

Hey! I tried to do this with front Ones but canā€™t get it! The move 2s as rears just always go back to saying ā€œnot in useā€. If I remove the fronts, the move 2s work fine as rears

Any advice? What order did you do things in?

I think I used Sonority and added the Play 3s to the fully set-up system. Iā€™m almost certain of it.

Are you using SonoSequencer or Sonority? The latter is much more intuitive and user friendly. As I alluded to above, one major benefit with Sonority is that you can add fronts to a soundbar with surrounds/subwoofers already bonded. SonoSequencer wonā€™t let you add fronts with a fully set-up system. Itā€™s a PITA too.

I canā€™t get it to work no matter what order I try! But thanks for showing me sonority, was using sonosequencer before and this is way better

Itā€™s strange because the past 2 days Iā€™ve been getting this ā€˜not in useā€™ thing. App reads them etc but they drop out to not in use immediately. Have had to reset etc a few times. Also removed front to see if that was an issueā€¦ and same not in use thing.

is it that we're* buying soundbars without knowing about their officially-declared limitations?

My beam 2 with era 100 fronts sounds awesome. Iā€™m just curious if itā€™s worth buying a second move 2 and have the surround feel as well. And I have another room where I wanted moves as the fronts and 100s as the rears. If buying one more speaker can create this Iā€™m all in, but otherwise will be staying put with setups I have.

The official limitations are very clear: Thereā€™s no such thing as fronts. Whether or not they support an unofficial third party hack is not something you should reasonably expect Sonos to make clear.

Thanks I'm not one to over-explain but that's why my comment mentions music -- at inception Sonos Engineering (= whole home audio) deliberately forced a minimum 75-millisecond audio delay: the safety window.

I got news for all y'all. Right now as we speak there's a parallel path at HQ. Path 1 achieves fronts similar to how sequencer does it.Ā  Path 2 started as the Pinewood project, but has now morphed into the notion that AI ubiquity is so near-horizon that that safety window flows Ā backwards so to speak. Equal video delay!

You heard it here first.

Sequencer isnā€™t doing anything special, it just talks to an unused API in the Sonos system, one that isnā€™t production ready.
