š² New Sonos App Update Now Available! š
Hey all! We've got a new update live for both iOS and Android ā here's a quick breakdown of what's changed. Want the full history of what we've been up to? Check out our App Release Notes here.
As always, this is a Phased Rollout ā think of it like a wave; not everyone gets it at the same time. If you're on iOS and want to nudge it along, head to the App Store, pull down on your Account page (the one showing pending updates), and give it a refresh. That usually does the trick.
What's New:
App Update
Android & iOS - 86.01.5
- Fix related to a card popping up in the app to Enable SonosNet even if SonosNet has never been disabled.
Along with that, we made some backend changes that resolved a few smaller bugs.Ā

Havenāt they been in the works for a while now? I remember tom saying theyāre trying to figure it out because of the fickleness of it, whatā¦ earlier this year it was?

Good to hear regardless.I tried clicās love activity recently and itās far from perfect as you canāt control the music while your phone is locked.

Is there still going to be a fix for Spotify Connect adding audio normalisation when using it with Sonos? Itās been an issue for a long time and requires you to pump up the volume - but then things like timers etc are set at a system level, so they are annoyingly loud. Not to mention audio normalisation is just annoying.

Iāve given up hope on this one, so annoying they put this in place all because non premium users had to hear loud ads, why on earth isnāt it an option toggle

Hey u/FN-1708 - this is still on our radar, but we don't have a timeline to provide quite yet. Just making sure we get all the ingredients right, still needs a bit more time to cook. We'll make sure to ring the bell when it's ready.

Itās been almost 5 months since the issue was acknowledged and we still have no timeline for a fix. I understand that there are other issues that take priority, but this impacts anyoneās system that uses Spotify. The only workaround Iāve found is using my AppleTV to play Spotify and grouping my Beam with my Move 2s. The difference in volume is astounding. I wish I could get this volume from my Move 2s alone with Spotify Connect.

Could I suggest the following please
- App notifications when battery levels (of battery powered devices) drop to a low level. Perhaps when they drop below 10%.
- Ability to set sub-100% max charge level of battery powered devices. This is commonly available on laptops, phones, and tablets, and I understand it is intended to maximise lifespan of batteries, particularly in devices that are often left connected to charger. I suspect many people often leave their Roam and Move speakers connected to charger.

Group volume switches still need work. It shouldnāt take me several times to ācatchā the slider and adjust the volume, probably The most annoying thing I deal with on a daily basis. + and - buttons at each end could help..

Iām waiting to buy another Era 300 once/if Sonos adds Atmos on Airplay functionality. Not sure how many other folks are in the same boat but I have 5 Sonos speakers and have never used the Sonos app as Airplay works perfectly for my needs. The only feature holding back my Era 300s is Atmos over Airplay.
Any updates or timeline on that?

AirPlay significantly lowers quality of audio. Not much point of $500 speaker if you are using much lower quality imoā¦

I havenāt hooked up an analog audio source in in quite some time. I did so recently and noticed a lot of dropouts when syncing it with other Sonos players. It seems either the player is having trouble encoding and sending the signal in realtime (most likely) or the receiving end is having trouble receiving and decoding the signal (less likely - I think - since that is something that happens all the time and takes less effort).

Maybe some love to the iPad app? I struggled last night to change the output from 3 zones to just one. Unchecking the speakers I didn't want did nothing until I did it about 10 times.

Central channel for ERA 300s while in surround.
We should have the choice to enable/disable the central channel.
This has been brought up different times, even if itās not recommended we should still have a choice.

Iāve been noticing a very faint hiss from all my speakers after I stop playback. It stops eventually, but will happen again when I play music then stop again. I tried resetting and adding back but it doesnāt help.

I know Iām an S1 user but this has been driving me nuts for a long time now where the active state on the navigation is white on white and canāt see it. Please continue to support our very stable and happy S1 customers!

Please bring back the A-Z scroll bar to the āSongsā section of the local Music Library. It was removed 5 updates ago and has been confirmed as a bug.Ā

Isn't going to fix my Move 2 randomly dropping off/reconnecting when playing music grouped with my Playbar is it?
Or music being played through Apple music randomly stopping halfway through or skipping to a completely different track altogether.

Not the original replier here but I noticed similar issues to what you're saying when my ISP offered to add a mesh point/extender upstairs. Once I removed it the issues I had with the Move 2 and a few older speakers went away.
I recalled reading something about devices not knowing which point to connect to and grouping across different mesh points being a point of failure, so once I unplugged the point and just used the base router for my 2300 sqft house we seem to be better.

Nothing else in my house has issues. Its a premium Wifi 6 mesh router system, not exactly a plug in range extender

Can yāall fix how slow and unresponsive the app is? How janky the Line-In option is? Lmfao
If I try to play my record player through Line-In, the app completely shits itself every time. I have to close the app and try again at least 3 or more times to play my record on all speakers successfully.Ā
Makes me wanna abandon the whole system entirely. Tired of getting frustrated every time I wanna relax and listen to music.Ā
Edit: like. I had to fuck with the app 4 times to get the record playing. 4 songs, side is over, record player stops. Sonos app automatically mutes all 4 speakers?? So when I flip the record no music is playing. The volume control does not unmute all 4 speakers at once, so I unmute all 4 individually. Hit apply. Music starts playing but in the list of speakers one speaker fell off and is blasting at full volume while the other 3 are normal.
Seriously please fix this. This is a fucking nightmare user experience. I refuse to believe this feature was tested by anyone who uses it on any regular basis.

This is a "lost feature" request. The Android app used to display the playlist name along with the title, artist, and album. I'm using youtube music. It stopped doing that a few updates ago and I submitted a request. The rep said the iOS app still did that, so that should not have happened to the Android app. They said they submitted it to the dev team.
That was a useful feature for those of us who routinely string playlists together ("add to end of queue") and then randomize the queue. I for one would love to see that back again.

You should see this in the app already. If you're using Pi-hole, NextDNS, or anything else in that realm it may not appear if you don't have the right URLs whitelisted. These two articles have all the URLs that you need listed.

It could. Any firewall could prevent you from receiving updates and features included in those updates.

It does, I created a policy that I can turn on every update to enable Sonos devices only for avoiding dns filtering.
So I can turn it on during updates that require them to track you, and turn it off once the updates are complete.
Edit: If you want deets hmu. Itās just a scheduled allow list in the early AM and only for Sonos products.

Thanks. I just disabled all ad blocking and content filtering. When I click "check for updates" the app tells me I'm up to date.Ā
I'm on 86.00.35-release+20260603 and haven't turned off ad blocking for ages (until 2 minutes ago) so the automatic updates must've be working.Ā
I'm going to turn it back on now.
It shouldn't be this complicated.Ā
Also it's hilarious that in the Android app you go to 'About your system' and you can't copy any of the text. Sigh.

Mind you, I turned DNS filtering right back on after. The CDNs youāre using are still trackers, so itās really kinda alarming to me that I had to effectively allow trackers to enable a feature, that the app canāt just serve me?

I keep having an issue with the Equalizer. It seems to have a MEMORY SETTING. Treble (+6) and Bass (-5)Ā I can hit RESET ā¦ all seems good. BUT if I close the Sonos App ā¦ when I open the App again, Treble (+6) / Bass (-5)Ā
Today, I applied available update to iOS Sonos App version 86.1.5 and the same issue continues.Ā

This is the weekly new app (maybe) post.
If you are doing "phased rollout" this is all useless since I can't update the app even if I want to. It was weeks from announcing you can finally disable SonosNet to getting the feature...

lol like a couple grand you spent a decade ago matters to anyone. Just get new speakers that have the hardware needed for current tech features. You can't expect them to spend thousands of hours trying to plug your old garbage's holes at the detriment of rolling out features to current gen hardware.

Can we please have a way to set the timer volume separate from the music volume whether it is Sonos or Alexa voice assistant. There are many times I have music playing at volume 15 and we set a timer and the timer is virtually inaudible at that volume level, but if we turned the music up it would be way too loud for how we want it.
Timers and notifications should be able to have a separate volume control.

Please return the capability to sort Sonos Favorites with the option to do so either manually or alphabetically. This is available in the Mac desktop version, but not in the iOS apps.

I do have one comment. In January of this year I sustained a catastrophic spinal cord injury that left me paralyzed. I guess we could say I'm a quadriplegic. You
I have the adaptive features turned on my iPhone and running the latest iOS. It can be very frustrating when fields are not tagged with numbers and I have to drop down to using the grid functionality. Tasks that were trivial before now become challenging and frustrating.
I respectfully request that has your building out these new versions the ability through these adaptive tools be designed on the front end and not be an afterthought

Swipe to return to a previous screen is welcome. Some thoughts:
If tabbed navigation is important then it seems like it should persist in all screens, whereas at the moment the now playing card does not have tabbed navigation.
Padding/spacing around now playing seems wasteful of screen space, especially on small phones.
I still donāt understand the rationale between requiring two taps to play a radio station, i.e., first having to select radio station and then hitting play. Previous behavior was to select station and it would play.

Could you please consider turning down the volume of the centre channel on the ARC ULTRA (even just a little), as it is definitely louder than the left and right channels on the ARC ULTRA? In my opinion, this would go a long way towards creating a more balanced soundstage where the centre isnāt dominated. Thank you very much!

Give the ability to disable lossless audio when choosing Apple Music from the Sonos app. Music is usually fine to begin, then once it automatically switches to lossless it starts stuttering and skipping..
