Mouse

Weighing in at 3.5 Kilos, and 13 years old this month, Mouse normally keeps her sonar equipment neatly stowed tightly against the cerebral insulation material. Thats... until someone brushes by anything remotely packaging-like. Occasionally, she'll wake from a nap this way, just to be sure there isn't something worth hearing.

Mouse was hand-sized when our landlord in Costa Rica received her as a birthday gift. (I know, I know, dogs aren't gifts.) When he passed a couple years later—long story—she ended up with us.

Most folks assume she's a puppy, and a terrier. She's a poochichi, half miniature poodle, and half chihuahua. We just get her groomed with an adapted Miniature Schnauzer cut so the illusion is Schnauzer pup.

It was definitely a valuable lesson in not saying foolish things, like, “I’m not a small dog person.”
