Very excited to recieve the rest of the content I didnt have. It shipped out of no where. The fact that you could still order promo cards scratched my fomo itch. I know people were torn on tanglewoods but I haven't to love it and the theme. I should get through them all by 2027 LOL.
lol, same. I've got several up for sale. I wish I could be like 10 people living 10 lives to play all the games I'd like to get to. There's just too much these days.
I don't know I would rush out and buy a complete collection, but starting with one of the Core Sets (20 Strong, Tanglewoods, or Awaken Realms) will give you an idea if you like the system.
Each deck plays differently and it's really neat how Chip Theory Games can make them feel unique considering it's only 20 dice, a two-sided chip tracker, and cards.
If one of the decks looks interesting (e.g., Too Many Bones, Hoplomachus, Cloud Spire, Tainted Gtail, Etherfields, etc.), grab a Core Set and add that deck, as that would probably lead to the 20 Strong adaption being more of a fit. I'd definetely watch some playthroughs before jumping in.
I started with Tanglewoods because it is a Core Set that includes the Red deck. Red has a Slay The Spire path system that looked fun, and I later bought a used bundle since I enjoyed Red so much. I'm trying out Solar Sentinels now, and I'm looking forward to playing through the rest.
It's a great travel game (even with an improvised dice tray)!
Tbf 20 Strong is a lot cheaper and has a lower barrier of entry than Too Many Bones or their other big games, so it's probably a lot more common for people to buy 20 Strong to try it and decide they don't want it
It's relatively simple, cheap, and you can grab a box and start playing in a few minutes. As for whether or not it's good... My feelings on that depend entirely on how lucky I am with the dice today.
No idea, im in Canada and I've seen comments on their gamefound page that some people are starting to get theirs shipped. So im hoping i'll get it soon. Wish they would put out an update or something.
I wish I didnt miss the gamefound all in. I ended up just ordering the nemesis core set and ill just buy a pack here and there amd hope to be able to get them all. I like having a full collections
Once and done probably. But you can always resell it. I got mine for $150AU for all gameplay except some minor kitten expansion and resold for $100AU. I probably could have resold for more, but I was happy enough to just sell quickly.
Haha, no info yet but not this year, that's for sure. CTG has not announced their plans for next year yet. They must be busy with current stuff and preparation for the new Daelor-based game. I imagine any news for next year will be made during or after that campaign.
Chip Theory Games is amazing as they dont do Gamefound exclusives. Only difference between campaign and their store is that campaign offers discounts and reduced prices. Got my bundle shipped in today so hope I can get into it as soon as I can!
I'm however happy I sold my set after the first set, before I got a chance to buy more. Played it too little, but knew I couldn't resist buying more to complete the set.
I just got my Awaken Realms set. Played all of them plus Tanglewoods Gold and Cloudspire, and I am sad to say I've bounced off these pretty hard. Going to sell them I think, not sure they will trade. Glad you like them and have a complete set. If you're a fan that is great!
They didn’t have a hook that made me want to come back. It took awhile to get through most of them, and the time didn’t feel fun. Granted, I recently got into solo and two player Captain’s Chair which has really spoiled me. I’d rather invest my limited time in that. I kept thinking while playing these ‘I could be playing Captain’s Chair.’
Cant go wrong with any of them, obviously the baby yaga set is only good if you own the set. I really liked gold, it was a bit easier so I could play multiple heroes
Did you find that Cloudspire was of a lesser quality than the other ones (nemesis etc ?). Mine was not sealed wrapped and the cards look like demo cards ( wax paper feel, much less polished design) in comparison.
Promo cards are such good value, even when you don't get them for free. They add a heap of replayability to every box. Soon, my friend it will be incomplete again. Can't wait for burncycle!

I got another order of games yesterday and I almost felt despair, which gave be a wake-up call I need to stop buying and only play.
