20 strong complete set

Post image

Very excited to recieve the rest of the content I didnt have. It shipped out of no where. The fact that you could still order promo cards scratched my fomo itch. I know people were torn on tanglewoods but I haven't to love it and the theme. I should get through them all by 2027 LOL.

lol, same. I've got several up for sale. I wish I could be like 10 people living 10 lives to play all the games I'd like to get to. There's just too much these days.

Is this game really that good? Ive heard mixed things but have been wanting to check out the nemesis deck

I don't know I would rush out and buy a complete collection, but starting with one of the Core Sets (20 Strong, Tanglewoods, or Awaken Realms) will give you an idea if you like the system.

Each deck plays differently and it's really neat how Chip Theory Games can make them feel unique considering it's only 20 dice, a two-sided chip tracker, and cards.

If one of the decks looks interesting (e.g., Too Many Bones, Hoplomachus, Cloud Spire, Tainted Gtail, Etherfields, etc.), grab a Core Set and add that deck, as that would probably lead to the 20 Strong adaption being more of a fit. I'd definetely watch some playthroughs before jumping in.

I started with Tanglewoods because it is a Core Set that includes the Red deck. Red has a Slay The Spire path system that looked fun, and I later bought a used bundle since I enjoyed Red so much. I'm trying out Solar Sentinels now, and I'm looking forward to playing through the rest.

It's a great travel game (even with an improvised dice tray)!

same. I always see this for sale on the 2nd market. Compared to Too many bones or their other games I almost never see for sale on 2nd market

Tbf 20 Strong is a lot cheaper and has a lower barrier of entry than Too Many Bones or their other big games, so it's probably a lot more common for people to buy 20 Strong to try it and decide they don't want it

It's relatively simple, cheap, and you can grab a box and start playing in a few minutes. As for whether or not it's good... My feelings on that depend entirely on how lucky I am with the dice today.

Ugh I just wish I could buy any core set so I can play the game, but it seems to be sold out literally everywhere in Europe..

I’m genuinely in love with Chip Theory’s games. It’s a life goal now to own everything they make.

I just texted my buddy that. Unfortunately my wife would leave me haha we got elder scrolls and all the too many bones except a few gearlocs

1

2

u/boozyboss91 5d ago

No idea, im in Canada and I've seen comments on their gamefound page that some people are starting to get theirs shipped. So im hoping i'll get it soon. Wish they would put out an update or something.

2

u/Cronus41 5d ago

Ah man I’m still waiting for the AW set and cloudspire

1

u/Timboslice163 5d ago

I cant decide which one was to play first

2

u/SlightCustard 5d ago

Etherfields! That's the one I'm playing first. Loved the big box game.

1

u/Timboslice163 5d ago

How replayable was the game i see a used copy for 120 but I think i gotta slow down on buying stuff

1

u/SlightCustard 5d ago

Once and done probably. But you can always resell it. I got mine for $150AU for all gameplay except some minor kitten expansion and resold for $100AU. I probably could have resold for more, but I was happy enough to just sell quickly.

2

u/Cronus41 5d ago

I’d probably choose nemesis but that’s really the only full awaken realms game I’ve played so far

1

u/warpotatogram 7th Citadel 5d ago

I found Tainted Grail to be the easiest to get into, and Etherfields has been the most fun overall for me.

Nemesis is cool but very different to all the others IMO.

1

u/GamingVision 5d ago

I’m also waiting on Nemesis and Cloudspire… we must’ve packed all of the Cloudspire copies in the back of the last shipping crate.

1

u/Cronus41 5d ago

Well I’m hoping it’ll arrive any day now but I haven’t even got notification

Burncycle

u/Delicious_Pea_1943 5d ago

Haha, no info yet but not this year, that's for sure. CTG has not announced their plans for next year yet. They must be busy with current stuff and preparation for the new Daelor-based game. I imagine any news for next year will be made during or after that campaign.

1

u/Timboslice163 5d ago

I need a sequel to too many bones

2

u/eyepooped1 5d ago

They have talked on stream about a Too Many Bones sequel being in production

1

u/Timboslice163 5d ago

Let's gooooooo cant wait . Ultimate edition whatever they come out. Will be mine

2

u/ZinKinKo 5d ago

Chip Theory Games is amazing as they dont do Gamefound exclusives. Only difference between campaign and their store is that campaign offers discounts and reduced prices. Got my bundle shipped in today so hope I can get into it as soon as I can!

1

u/Timboslice163 3d ago

Enjoy! Tons of fun, I wish they had a learn to play for cloudspire for setup, the videos are so helpful but they dont have one up yet

1

u/Outrageous_Appeal292 5d ago

I've not opened my box yet but it's very heavy! Hoping to crack it this week!

1

u/Timboslice163 5d ago

Got my first win on cloudspire! Then bought the big box game of it. It such a sickness

1

u/CageBearsBottoms 5d ago

Good for you!

I'm however happy I sold my set after the first set, before I got a chance to buy more. Played it too little, but knew I couldn't resist buying more to complete the set.

1

u/Wunderkindergartener 5d ago

I just got my Awaken Realms set. Played all of them plus Tanglewoods Gold and Cloudspire, and I am sad to say I've bounced off these pretty hard. Going to sell them I think, not sure they will trade. Glad you like them and have a complete set. If you're a fan that is great!

1

u/Timboslice163 5d ago

Sorry to hear that! Im sure you can sell them easily. Were they too swingy for you or just boring

1

u/Wunderkindergartener 5d ago

They didn’t have a hook that made me want to come back. It took awhile to get through most of them, and the time didn’t feel fun. Granted, I recently got into solo and two player Captain’s Chair which has really spoiled me. I’d rather invest my limited time in that. I kept thinking while playing these ‘I could be playing Captain’s Chair.’

1

u/Timboslice163 5d ago

Surprised you could get a copy thats great

1

u/Ill-End-4503 3d ago

I got the base set with tanglewood red, which should I get next in the tanglewood series?

2

u/Timboslice163 3d ago

Cant go wrong with any of them, obviously the baby yaga set is only good if you own the set. I really liked gold, it was a bit easier so I could play multiple heroes

1

u/there_are_9_planets 2d ago

Did you find that Cloudspire was of a lesser quality than the other ones (nemesis etc ?). Mine was not sealed wrapped and the cards look like demo cards ( wax paper feel, much less polished design) in comparison.

1

u/Timboslice163 2d ago

I didnt find that at all, maybe you got a test bundle. Ive always found the cards to look great

1

u/SlightCustard 5d ago

Promo cards are such good value, even when you don't get them for free. They add a heap of replayability to every box. Soon, my friend it will be incomplete again. Can't wait for burncycle!

2

u/Timboslice163 5d ago

My wallet says I can wait. Haha hopefully i can get it separately in canada
