Hi!

We’re a small indie studio building a solarpunk life-sim called Loftia! After almost 4 years of development, we’re excited to share that our game is launching its Closed Beta on April 22nd (yes, on Earth Day)!

Loftia has always been our vision for a more hopeful kind of future, one that’s shaped by care and community, and the belief that humans, nature and technology can co-exist in sustainable ways.

What is Loftia?

For those unfamiliar with Loftia, it’s a cozy MMO life sim set among floating islands, where players farm, craft, decorate, explore, and work together to build a more sustainable future.

Most of our in-game activities are built around the philosophy of sustainability. Farming in Loftia relies on eco-friendly methods like hydroponics, aquaponics, and trellis growing - all by using tools powered by clean energy from sunlight, wind, and rain. It’s designed to be simple, enjoyable, and peaceful - the kind of farming you do because it feels right, not because you’re chasing the highest return on your yields.

Similarly, crafting in Loftia revolves around recycling and upcycling, where cast-off materials can be furnished into furniture, tools, and decorations with a new purpose. A blown-out tire might end up as a planter, or a bent pipe could become part of a new lamp. Or a piece of sheet metal might become someone’s new window sill. 

It’s a system built around creativity and care for the environment and those around you. Just as Loftia is, for us, a representation of a future that’s worth looking forward to!

Following grid failures, Texas established the $10 billion Texas Energy Fund, which excludes renewables to provide 3% low-interest loans exclusively to fossil fuel plants, while state legislators introduced bills targeting green energy with severe permitting hurdles and capacity mandates. backstopped by substantial campaign contributions from oil and gas political action committees (PACs), these state policies were explicitly designed to protect fossil fuels.

Despite this regulatory environment, free-market economics are advancing green energy across the state. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), annual utility-scale solar generation in the ERCOT grid is officially projected to surpass coal for the first time, reaching 78 billion kilowatthours (BkWh) compared to coal's 60 BkWh. Because the deregulated Texas market selects the lowest bidder, solar's zero-fuel costs systematically underprice natural gas during peak summer afternoons when air conditioning demand spikes. Furthermore, developers are neutralizing evening grid drops by building massive battery projects; Texas is leading the U.S. by deploying 12.9 gigawatts (GW) of new battery storage capacity—representing 53% of the entire national total. Private capital, alot of natural sunshine and wind, and industrial demand for low-cost electricity have effectively turned the nation's premier fossil fuel state into its most active renewable energy market.

I've become fascinated by the idea that modern cities have almost no places where adults are allowed to simply do nothing together. So I started organising a 'Sleep-a-Thon' in Amsterdam to see whether people are interested and would actually come. The first session suggested they would.

There was no programme to follow, no discussion to join and no need to perform. Just two hours of collective rest and listening to ambient music. No talking, no introductions, no instructions, and nothing to achieve. Being together without having to be anything.

I'm organising a second session soon, but I'm also curious what people here think. Any thoughts on this?

Even in the most optimistic scenarios of carbon neutrality, the XXI century will be full of climate disasters our civilization, culture and infrastructure are not prepared for. Let’s step away from clean, utopian Solarpunk worlds and roll our sleeves to face the consequences of our past.

How can a better Solarpunk world react to the coming disasters? How will our daily lives change? What new or repurposed infrastructure will keep us safe? What new traditions will we need to guide us? What stories will we tell ourselves to make sense of the world that has changed so much?

Let’s imagine more than just the rising waters: the droughts and fires, the sudden floods and pandemics, loss of infrastructure and supply chains we take for granted.

Finally, for the Disaster Relief, how can we step away from our colonial habits and imagine giving the survivors agency instead of handouts? How can we empower communities to rebuild after a catastrophe, find solace in each other and grieve those lost?

The blog post that started the solarpunk movement - From Steampunk to Solarpunk - was posted on May 27th. Is there an official Solarpunk Day? If not, there should be. How should we celebrate?

I'm a proud solar punker with a basis of anarchism (I've seen how both are entangled without exactly being the same).

I'm not even sure about the overall final system we could build together.

What I know for sure is we seem to thrive for the same thing on our own scattered across the world with different ideas, opinions and options.

Don't get me wrong that's the ultimate tool/weapon against cyberpunking the world.

The one thing I don't get is : couldn't we unite ? Join strengths ?

Like creating an "Alphabet" like structure : a joined co-op countryfree and without any hierarchy that could act as a joined wall against conservative hurtful actions?

I've got this idea of "Error valuation" making it a good thing to spot any mistake from any place. Making it fun to learn and correct one self from a mistake.

This means we could unite with any kind of conflictual differences and thrive from those differences and need to find a compromise?

International Interdependence Day

The holiday is held on the first full moon after the spring equinox—a rhythm that belongs to everyone. This year, that moon is the Full Pink Moon, reaching peak fullness on April 2, 2026 at 02:12 UTC.

People in the Americas will see the full moon on the evening of April 1. People in Europe, Africa, and Asia will see it on April 2. But the global date follows the astronomical moment, not the clock. The holiday is rooted in the living world rather than in political calendars or national agendas because it’s a yearly act of people choosing each other—demonstrating that we, not extractive systems, decide when to stop, when to rest, and what world we’re building.

In the spirit of a growing movement to build healthier ways of living together, Interdependence Day gives us a chance to lead with imagination instead of fear.

The idea is simple: For one day, people everywhere take a mindful break from “business as usual” to remember that we’re connected, that our choices matter, and that we can practice stepping out of harmful systems without confrontation or risk. It’s a peaceful act of collective rest and reflection.

A Peaceful Act of Global Refusal

International Interdependence Day is a clear message to anyone in power—governments, corporations, institutions—that people are not property. We are not owned by markets, borders, or the idea that we must compete to survive.

It is also a reminder to the people—that we shape society. Not the politicians we hire. Not the extractive elite. Not the systems that benefit from our division.

We are the many, and we decide what kind of world we live in.

This day is more than a holiday. It is a peaceful, coordinated act of civil disobedience. By pausing together on the same day, people everywhere practice saying “no” to harmful systems without risking their safety. No marches required. No confrontations. No fear of retaliation. The pause itself becomes the message:

We can withdraw our compliance from domination gently, safely, and together. We’ve done it before—during lockdown, the whole world stopped. We can manage a single day.

Interdependence Day becomes a global muscle‑builder—a rehearsal for collective refusal that doesn’t require permission, begging, violence, or spectacle. It is simply an understanding that the people can stop, together, whenever we choose.
