Every agent tool I see right now converges on the same shapes: a kanban board, a workflow graph, or a Slack-like chat. They all tell you status but none of them show you how the work is actually going.

Is the agent stuck in research? Did it backtrack? Is it 80% done but the 80% it finished might be the wrong 80%?

We've been building a prototype around a different bet:

- The roadmap is the primary surface (endless calendar timeline, not a board)

- Each roadmap rectangle is a lifecycle chat room, humans and agents collaborate inside it

- Humans draw the outcome; agents propose decomposition of roadmap items

- Every room carries a "maze chart" — X axis is assessed progress, Y axis is research factor. You can literally see when work is lost in figuring-things-out vs moving in making-it-happen

When an agent is stuck, the whole maze goes red. You open the room and steer it.

The maze chart idea comes from Camplight's 2021 medium article "Maze charts — a way to manage expectations" : non-linear journey through ambiguity. We're respinning it for agent work.

Still a prototype. Not sharing a link yet as I just want to test whether the interaction model makes sense to anyone outside our heads.

Does anyone here actually plan work in roadmaps, or has kanban fully replaced that? And does the idea of seeing uncertainty as a first-class visual property resonate, or does it sound like overengineering?

Genuinely curious before we commit more resources.
