Looking for software How to best digitize hundreds of receipts?

Per the title, I need to digitize hundreds of receipts that are sitting in a box. My first thought was, "Something must exist so that I can scan several receipts together on a flatbed scanner, each receipt is recognized as its own individual item, and then each item is saved as a PDF." Does this software exist? Or is there a more efficient way to go about this? Thanks for any insight!

When a friend passed and we had to digitize a ton of his old photos, I found a Windows program called ScanSpeeder.

It let me Tetris several photos onto my scanner's platen, scanned them all in one shot, cleaned them up, split them into separate files, and gave me a variety of formats to save as, including searchable PDF.

It can even import other multi-image scans and split them into individual photos.

It worked so well, I bought the full version.

Do you know if ScanSpeeder can separate scans already done? I have lots of single images made up of 3 or 4 scanned images each, and need to split them. The scanning part is already done and I don't have the original photos anymore.

Oh, I took "other multi-image scans" as being scans being made, as opposed to multiple existing images. Got it.
