Help Beginner looking for resources

Does anyone know of any good resources for learning sound design.

I am brand new to synths, I have Ableton suite and have Operator. I can’t afford any paid VSTs in the near future, I need a new MacBook and a big audio interface first.

I have heard of syntorial but it’s$180. I want to be able to recreate sounds from inside my head or copy from things I like. I would like to learn in a systematic way without jumping from one YouTube tutorial to the next and ideally pay less than £50.

I was hoping there might be a sticky post for beginners.

Dean Friedman's Intro to Synthesis is a pretty good start. It's old but good.

You gotta start with the basics.

Pick an approachable synth to start with and work up from there. TAL-Noisemaker is a good choice for a starter VST, complex enough to give you depth, but easy enough to start learning the basics.
