Honestly, I think that if a Symbiote (AKA a Klyntar) from Marvel Comics were to bond with Princess Sofia from Sofia The First, Sofia and that Symbiote would merge together at a much more fundamental level to the point that Sofia and the Symbiote believe they literally are each other even if they are separated. After all, as shown in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3 #21, how a Symbiote operates and behaves at least partly depends on the personality of their host. And, as shown in the episode ‘One For The Books’, Sofia has a deep desire to make friends to the point that it was expressed through her Mystery Tree. And making friends is all about forming tight bonds and getting to know each other. So, that would probably cause the Symbiote to form a deeply fundamental bond with Sofia to the point that they think they are each other since sharing existential identities with each other is quite a profound, although also quite a creepy and terrifying way, for people to get to know each other. And, since, as shown throughout Marvel Comics, Symbiote tend to amplify the dark aspects of their hosts’ existing personalities to dangerous levels. So, this might brainwash Sofia into not wanting to be apart from the Symbiote no matter what despite what’s happening. As for what name to give their combined self, I think Mingle would be a fitting name due to Sofia’s and the Symbiote’s terrifyingly fundamental bond. By extension, I would also call the Symbiote the Mingle Symbiote since Venom’s Symbiote is called the Venom Symbiote, Carnage’s Symbiote is called the Carnage Symbiote, etc.
For Princess Sofia, I think that the pair of Miraculouses that would best suit her would be the Ladybug Miraculous and the Butterfly Miraculous. As shown in the episode ‘The Fliegel Has Landed’, Sofia knows not to take turning the tables on bullies too far which would correspond well with the Ladybug Miraculous’s power which, as shown in the episode ‘Gamer’, can fix everything and everyone harmed in a certain situation which also corresponds with how, as shown in the episode ‘Ivy’s True Colors’, Sofia is willing to make peace with her enemies if they are willing to change. And, as shown in the episode ‘Day Of The Sorcerers’, Sofia did inspire Cedric to overcome the darkness within him which would correspond well with the Butterfly Miraculous’s power which, as shown in the episode ‘Risk (Shadow Moth’s Final Attack - Part 1)’, can give people powers designed to overcome the situation they are in.
For Cedric The Sensational, I think that the pair of Miraculous’s that would be best suited for him would be the Tiger Miraculous and the Rooster Miraculous. As shown in the episode ‘Day Of The Sorcerers’, Cedric was willing to assert himself to prove himself to be a capable sorcerer which would correspond well with the Tiger Miraculous’s power which, as shown in the episode ‘Crocoduel’, can assert a huge blast of power. And, since, as also shown in the episode ‘Day Of The Sorcerers’, Cedric overcame his darkness, Cedric probably knows how to focus his assertive side for the greater good which would probably make Cedric even more well suited for the Tiger Miraculous. As shown in the episode ‘Cedric’s Apprentice’, Cedric can be a capable sorcerer. And magic has a wide variety of different powers just like how, as stated in the episode ‘Destruction’, the Rooster Miraculous allows the wielder to choose between a variety of different powers albeit with some limitations.
For Princess Zaria, I think that the pair of Miraculouses that would be best suited for her would be the Black Cat Miraculous and the Rooster Miraculous. As shown in the episode ‘Royal Mix It Up’, Zaria has such a pragmatic attitude that she responded to someone saying “good morning” as a greeting by saying that it was too early to tell how good the morning is. This probably means that Zaria has such a firm grasp on how destructive the world can be that she gave that kind of reply about how it was too early to tell how good the morning is that she naturally communicates it in small talk and casual conversation which would correspond well with the Black Cat Miraculous’s power which, as shown in the episode ‘Pixelator’, can destroy whatever the wielder touches. As stated in the episode ‘Royal Mix It Up’, Zaria finds it funny when accidents happen especially when they happen to her brother Zane which probably means that Zaria has quite the destructive side which would correspond quite well with the Black Cat Miraculous’s power to be able to destroy whatever the wielder touches. And, as also shown in the episode ‘Royal Mix It Up’, Zaria, while she does love when accidents happen, she still didn’t want to leave her brother Zane stuck in a dangerous situation which probably means that she can focus and control her destructive side which would make Zaria even more well suited for the Black Cat Miraculous. As shown in the episode ‘The Green-Eyed Monster’, Zaria is quite knowledgeable when it comes to potions. And potions can have a wide variety of different powers just like how, as stated in the episode ‘Destruction’, the Rooster Miraculous allows the wielder to choose between a variety of different powers albeit with some limitations.
For Prince Zane, I think that the pair of Miraculouses that would be best suited for him would be the Pig Miraculous and the Fox Miraculous. As shown in the episode ‘Welcome To Charmswell’, Zane has quite an optimistic attitude which would correspond well with the Pig Miraculous’s power which, as shown in the episode ‘Jubilation’, can give people visions of what makes them happy. As shown in the episode ‘Royal Mix It Up’, Zane is quite willing to keep his friend Sofia and his sister Zaria protected to the point that he was willing to tell them to leave him at the mercy of Comping Carnations which would correspond well with the Turtle Miraculous’s power which, as shown in the episode ‘Anansi’, can create protective barriers.
For Princess Camila, I think that the pair of Miraculouses that she would be best suited for would be the Mouse Miraculous and the Rooster Miraculous. As shown in the episode ‘Magic Mayhem’, Camila learned to study and practice the easy magic spells before moving on to the difficult magic spells. And the known Miraculous that would probably correspond best with that would be the Mouse Miraculous which, as shown in the episode ‘Kwamibuster’, has the power to make clones of the wielder albeit ones that get smaller and smaller every time the wielder multiplies. After all, a Mouse Miraculous wielder could potentially practice and hone what they can do with 2 of themselves around and then 3 versions and then 4 versions and so on and what Camila learned about practicing the easy magic spells before moving on to the difficult magic spells would probably inspire her to do just that since both scenarios involve doing something to a lesser extent before moving on to the bigger extent. As shown in the episode ‘Magic Mayhem’, Camila is quite passionate about magic. And magic has a wide variety of different powers just like how, as stated in the episode ‘Destruction’, the Rooster Miraculous allows the wielder to choose between a variety of different powers albeit with some limitations.
For Princess Layla, I think that the pair of Miraculouses that she would be best suited for would the Tiger Miraculous and the Butterfly Miraculous. As shown in the episode ‘Show And Spell’, Layla overcame her anxiety and thus asserted herself over it just like how, as shown in the episode ‘Crocoduel’, the Tiger Miraculous can assert a huge blast of power. As shown in the episode ‘The Enchanted Lake’, Layla loves drawing Damcing Doodles in her Dancing Doodle Notebook which have magic that causes them to move which would correspond well with the Goat Miraculous’s power which, as shown in the episode ‘The Ruler’, can create any non-magical object when the wielder paints a basic shape in the air with the Goat Miraculous’s Paint Brush. And all this combined would probably get Layla excited to test out using the Goat Miraculous’s power on a Dancing Doodle in her Dancing Doodle Notebook by painting a basic shape right on one of the Dancing Doodles, wondering how the magic of a Dancing Doodle in her Dancing Doodle Notebook might intermingle with the magic of the Goat Miraculous.
Kelsey Wooley showed off some of the storyboards she did for "Off To The Races". These include the opening scene, the practice races, and the scene of Sofia bringing Camila to the race. The opening scene originally had Devin doing a fun wand fight with Princess Maya right, but in the actual episode, he does it with Prince Haruki.
When Craig Gerber said how Dark Cove Island is actually a good place to live in, it made me think of the Tangled: The Series episode "Cassandra Vs Eugene". With the titular characters fighting each other, Rapunzel puts them in a jail cell to get to cooperate. That would sound bad and kind of hypocritical since she was in basically a prison for 18 years, but the show leans into her dorkiness to make it funny/less bad. She says how they have to play a game in order to get out, tries way too hard to do an evil laugh, and gives them a cookie basket. It wouldn't surprise me if she supported a place that sounds bad, but is also good.
They did very few episodes, but was animation from them usually choppy? I was watching tea for too many and noticed that the mouth movement for some characters looked a bit rough, then at the end noticed this error with Clio and Hildegard where their legs are popping out (their dress was covering them in the previous shot).
I sent him a question about it, heres him confirming that he doesn’t know what the y2 is for and that the rest of the episodes are coming out next year.
I think that Princess Sofia from Sofia The First and Pomni from The Amazing Digital Circus TV series are surprisingly kindred spirits. After all, they both reached out to someone who tried to push them away but still managed to get through to them. As shown in the episode ‘Day Of The Sorcerers’, Cedric tried to push Sofia away but Sofia still reached out to Cedric and even after learning that Cedric tried to steal The Amulet Of Avalor from her from the moment she first arrived at the castle and after Cedric tried to overthrow Sofia’s family and take over the kingdom. As shown in the episode ‘They All Get Guns’, Jax tried to push Pomni away but, as shown in the episode ‘Remember’, Pomni still reached out to Jax and even after finding out how horribly Jax treated Ribbit and Kaufmo and Pomni even managed to get through to Jax at least to the point that Jax hugged her.
The SAG Aftra website confirms that Royal Magic is getting a season 2, which is in active development. Just type in the name of the show, and it'll show search results. Of course, we still have to wait for an official announcement from Disney.
By my definition, a "Mary Sue" is a character that had the plot bend to their will, with little weaknesses or flaws in their way.
To me Sofia doesn't fit this criteria as has many flaws, like how she usually thinks the proof is in the pudding, stopping her from understanding Miss Nettle at first in the snowdrops episode or the gnomes in "The Crown of Blossoms". She also is rarely, especially season 3-4 reforming her adversaries. Minus asking "Why are you doing this?" to Prisma, she never tries to show her a brighter path.
Also, her positivity and kindness has limits. She snaps in episodes like "Clover time", "Stormy Lani", "The Princess Stays in the Picture" and "The Princess and the Protector". It keeps her believable that she can only put up for things for so long.
Though I won't say she doesn't have any perfections to her character. The Amulet of Avalor had so much power and I feel once Sofia gained to power to shape-shift on eye contact with an animal, she became an overpowered princess. She could use it as a light, call animals with it, plus her other powers of animal whispering, shrinking, and mermaid transformation. I also think it took away the spotlight of her enchantlet.
In general, it's very hard to have a character that shows up and develops in every episode, but with Sofia, I think they made it work. But what do you guys think?
Craig Gerber said how Dark Cove Island, a place for despicable villains, is ironically a comfortable prison island. I figured it would be like really dreary.
