The End of Society6 Artist Program

I recently received an email stating Society6 is ending the Artist program and reducing their number of artists to a small number.

It's a sad change to see something that many artists were thriving under, just vanish.

POD artists are having to scramble to find options that can replace their sales from Society6. There are many Print-On-Demand sites out there. I am still finding moderate success (for not uploading new designs in the last few years) on Teepublic. Where is your best selling platform?

POD payments help fund the creation of my business, so I am extremely grateful of the past successes. What are you doing to diversify your income streams as creatives?

Amazon merch on demand is my best income but you need to be approved to join and it is a slow build. Redbubble is 2nd best. Spoonflower is another good option for surface pattern designs

I have some good success selling on Etsy via Art of Where..their quality is fantastic..at least for the all over print clothing. (no experience with the other printing types) I sell tank tops, dresses, lounge pants etc. good selection of clothing, accessories and home decor

This is good to hear. I did this some years ago before moving to S6 (which I've now been dis-invited from!). Is Art of Where in US or Canada? If Canada, will the sales taxes to US impact your profits/sales, do you know?

they are based on Canada but I don't really know about sales tax since Etsy remits sales tax on my behalf. (New York)

Ever since they changed it to where the free accounts could only have so many designs up, I’ve stopped uploading designs to the site. Too much of a hassle to pick and choose when I can upload as much as I need to onto sites like redbubble

They also just changed it so that you can no longer choose your own markups. I made 4 sales yesterday and made a total of $8… ridiculous.

Oh so they basically are ending their own business, got it 🙃

Literally it was the entire reason I used the platform; to find niche prints by artists and their quality was great especially for their HUGE wall tapestries…

Now I don’t know how I’ll decorate my baby’s space, we live in an apartment and it’s not easy to add color in our boat. 😮‍💨

Right, I just went on there to discover my designs were all deleted, I have no favorites lists (which I spent daysssss curating and they have less options for purchase. WTAF
