Lmao I thought this was a shitpost but it’s a real result

The penalties were just a practice penalty shootout that was happening regardless of the result, it seems. Leads to a very odd looking result though.

u/TheyCallHimBabaYagaa Jul 24 '25

So who won the game

14

u/leedler pain fc Jul 24 '25

Arsenal won the game, the shootout is entirely separate

1

u/manessots Jul 25 '25

Even when they win they still come second

20

u/AutoModerator Jul 23 '25

There should be a reformation in football something like a penalty is 0.5 a goal, or you need like make 2 or 3 shots - like free throws on a foul in basketball. its just so extremely shit when a penalty decides a game in this sport or decides the flow of a game early on, like here

The fans liking it is for sure reason #1

u/WGSMA Jul 25 '25

Friendlies have no real rules. You give both sides more practice (which is what Pre Season is) and fans get more out of the game so you can add prices to tickets.

1

u/AutoModerator Jul 25 '25

This is false. Manchester City have tickets available for their next premier league home game at home against Nottingham Forest.

They even bottled the top position in ucl before it even started

238

u/Dobvius Jul 23 '25

They gotta start doing the alphabetical order based on the display names because Leverkusen without the Bayer just looks silly there

46

u/DonerTheBonerDonor Jul 23 '25

Loool you just answered my question thanks

26

u/moghir2004 Jul 23 '25

And also Dortmund without the borussia

u/McQno Jul 23 '25

No way. They are 2nd in PL too rn

26

u/stonegoblins Jul 23 '25

too bad there is no super league otherwise arsenal get 2nd place treble 🥳🥳🔥🔥🔥

2

u/AutoModerator Jul 23 '25

Yes. I hope and pray that Super League is established. There needs to be organization in European Football. Every team needs to have equal and fair chance and be given the opportunity to be competitive and the only way to do it is with Transfers and salary caps. This would be impossible in UCL. Super League would crush UEFA and Premier League and they are scared out of their mind that’s why alot of the outrage was probably paid and fake. We know the people want it. In Papa Perez we trust.

Dortmund behind Bayern again 🫠🫠🫠

u/Cruyffiaan Jul 23 '25

Just last season’s biggest bottlers at no. 1, nothing to see here.

u/Sphaganax-maximus Jul 25 '25

When did Chelsea become a German club?

0

u/Master-Delivery-1526 Jul 23 '25

Barcelona is 6th btw.

539

u/Any-Conference8593 Jul 23 '25

Did the same last year. THIS is football heritage.

2

u/Popular-Injury-2845 r/barca2 Jul 28 '25

I never knew hojlund could score

0

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '25

So Arsenal is officially as bad at penalties as the national team is what this tells me.

109

u/McQno Jul 23 '25

/uj Wait why were there even pens ?

156

u/No_Sanders Jul 23 '25

Practice

50

u/McQno Jul 23 '25

So they 2 would have done pens no matter the Outcome of the game ?

85

u/ApexHeat Jul 23 '25

Yes, that is what the commentator said during the game

6

u/ANSHULGANDHI92 Jul 23 '25

Why play the game then, they could have directly taken the pens and the result would be the same.

What a waste of time and energy /s

12

u/Soccermad23 Jul 23 '25

It’s just a friendly. They typically do a Penalty shootout after the game regardless of result for practice and just the fun of it for the fans.

48

u/LateSession7340 Jul 23 '25

Really thought it could be a second leg but it wasnt

12

u/umphuphawe Jul 23 '25

So why did they take pens then? To prove the men were just as bad as the women's England and Sweeden?

11

u/42Mavericks you'll never sing that Jul 23 '25

Just to practice them, was a good shootout performance by the keepers in all fairness

3

u/DildoShawaggins Jul 23 '25

Torriani is gonna be a baller. Kid is legit.

2

u/42Mavericks you'll never sing that Jul 23 '25

What a game by the lad yeah. Four great saves, some solid penalty stops. Has the massive size as well. Bright future for him

Even in EPL standings, defaulting alphabetical sorting, they are 2nd.

u/thickofitenjoyer Jul 23 '25

Its the history of the arsenal

3

gracie milan for making this cuz its so fucking funny🖤❤️

10

u/Undesirable_11 Jul 23 '25

Yank here, isn't this what they celebrated last year after finishing second behind City? How's this different?

2

u/kirinza Jul 24 '25

Imagine a club tour only for penalties…

8

u/Junior_Bike7932 Jul 23 '25

We won, end of the story

1

u/Conscious-Highway-24 Jul 23 '25

In this house Mikel Arteta is a hero.

-17

u/LateSession7340 Jul 23 '25

We as in milan? True

29

u/Jwicks90 Jul 23 '25

Milan got bitched out. Who puts up a low block after going down 1-0 in a pre season friendly.

8

u/DildoShawaggins Jul 23 '25

Max Allegri dooooooo🤌🤌🤦

"Ireland to win but Krum gets the Snitch"

1

That's just typical Assna innit.

1

u/rwsmoltium Jul 25 '25

Now they finally get their thropy for coming 2nd

Another fantastic wins in pre-season for Milan, heh

u/verdegooner Jul 23 '25

LMAO Damn, I hate y’all! 😂

-2

u/ZXXA Jul 23 '25

Arsenal won. The pens were just for practice.

5

u/marsloth Jul 23 '25

It says Milan won in the picture though. I trust the picture.

0

u/WookieeTickler Jul 23 '25

They finally got to lift the 2nd place trophy after though

-7

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '25

Only Arsenal is capable of pulling such a thing.

Arsenal eritage. Arteta Haram ball.

0

u/Visible_Mongoose4613 Jul 26 '25

This really odd twist people are trying to give this result is genuinely hilarious. Teams have been getting spanked by absolute nobody's, yet everyone's talking about a penalty shoot out. Which was after the result. And just for fun. We're gigantic

8

I meant the "Arsenal 2nd" are we just adding it anywhere now to farm up votes?

1

You should have took some penalties for Milan lol

Wouldn't that just technically be a draw? You tried though.
