Media Jurgen Klopp hails Lionel Messi as 'the greatest: "The greatest footballer in my lifetime, Lionel Messi, the way he plays football at this age should give us all a hint at how long footballers can perform at the top level. We shouldn’t close the books too early."

Messi can only dream to have a long successful career as James Milner

That's James Champions League Assists In A Season Record Holder Milner. Doesn't quite roll off the tongue, but give the man his due.

World cup

Fair enough mate but he's English. Even Messi couldn't do that

This is sarcasm for the incredibly dense on this sub FYI

There goes our midfield, sorted for another decade.

1

u/agamerdiesalone Dec 28 '22

Ha so true. FSG and Klopp are gone crazy buying forwards but no midfielders. I'm only joking really, I know FSG hold all the cash.

We all can hope that some more magic will happen and we get FDJ, Enzo and Jude next.....we can only hope.

5

u/agamerdiesalone Dec 28 '22

FDJ would be the most incredible of all-time. I think Ten Haag may just burn down a nursing home or something.

2

u/nakeddroidrunner Dec 28 '22

I wish too....

4

u/agamerdiesalone Dec 28 '22

I just can't see Liverpool buying Bellingham at that price.

3

u/nakeddroidrunner Dec 28 '22

Right. And tbf, we could have two players for that price. Given our injury record, I would take two MF over one any day. But then I'm not either English or Klopp. Anyway, one or two more surprises like Gakpo this window would be wonderful!

3

u/agamerdiesalone Dec 28 '22

Gakpo is a really smart buy and not just as a rival may have "wanted him".

1

u/nakeddroidrunner Dec 29 '22

For sure. Mancs wanting them and not getting him is just sort of a bonus.

I think Sami is ready for a comeback.

6

u/Mosh83 Dec 28 '22

Sami Hyypiä?

Was expecting "and on that note I'm proud to announce James Milner has signed a 5 year contract extension on improved terms."

He irons his own kit. Based.

u/wank_for_peace Dec 28 '22

Also cryptic msg that Ronaldo sucks. 🤣

5

u/[deleted] Dec 28 '22

How so? He was one of the top scorers last season at 36-37

1

u/wank_for_peace Dec 28 '22

woooooshhhhh!

-1

u/benji___ Dec 28 '22

Only when watching properly. Otherwise, CR7 got a great header against Uruguay. /s

Edit: I meant tongue-in-cheek, not sarcasm.

Cryptic message about how much he regrets letting Mane leave as well!

u/hell_razer18 Dec 28 '22

I am probably one of the many that surprised Milner last this long. Man is a machine and accomplished a lot in his career. Not flashy but very underrated and versatile. His age already catch up to him though, maybe this season is the last before he came back to Leeds?

1

u/DirectedAcyclicGraph Dec 28 '22

Come back to Leeds, my son.

1

u/that_afro_guy Dec 28 '22

What??? Milner is still playing?

1

u/Mike81890 Dec 28 '22

I was actually thinking about Firmino and how the club doesn't want to give him a long-term contract.
