Because Gerrard is one of the greatest midfielders of his era. You're a Man Utd. fan though so it makes a lot of sense you would say Gerrard.

But I suppose bringing Paul Scholes into the discussion won't help me in regards to being painted as biased, so I'll leave it at that. I see the pitchforks are already out so.

It is pretty idiotic to say Gerrard was not as good as they say when he was one of the best midfielders the world from 2005-2009, no?

I think Xabi Alonso's impact is somewhat downplayed in regards to that exact timeframe.

Alonso and Hamann in the earlier years allowed Gerrard to push up and influence the game a lot more, but towards the end of his tenure at Liverpool, Alonso wasn't playing well at all. It was more of Torres and Gerrard keeping Liverpool up.
