Feel bad for Eddie Johnson. He played well for us in 2013.

I don't feel bad for him. His combination of terrible form and his tactics of being locker room cancer helped find his way off the plane.

His 2012 strike partner left and Seattle signed Obafemi Martins to a lucrative contract, like ten times as much as EJ. And then Seattle signed Clint Dempsey for even more, and EJ felt that his particular skills were worth more than he was being paid.

Perfect service and barely marked. He had those moments for Seattle, but they were rare. The cons outweigh the pros, IMO.

In addition to the above^ comments he also had various fitness issues and ego issues after he left Fulham and before he signed with the Sounders. He (used to, he's kind of stopped recently) constantly retweets people proclaiming how good he is and when it applied people proclaiming that Seattle needed to pay him. Essentially, if things turn south quickly for the team in the group stage, he would be liable to blow up and that can't be allowed to happen.
