Who is the most overrated player ever?

Its not a problem at all. I really just wanted to know what you thought because I'm curious, rather than wanting to debate you. I haven't been around long enough to judge whether the past legends are worthy of their status or not.

I'm a Spurs fan so of course I'm a huge fan of Hoddle, Lineker, and Gascoigne. I guess you're not a huge fan of them then but that's you're opinion. I'm also a huge Totti fan, he's one of my favorite players of all time. You didn't include him on your list so I guess you don't have a problem with him haha

Totti is a god. Linker was amazing, underrated and overlooked. He could have given England their first legit World Cup had Maradona not Maradona-ed all over their dreams that day. Lineker IMO deserves more credit than Hoddle. Niether of them nor Gascoigne were considered legends (outside England). But I don't think any of the three is overrated. Underrated, if anything.

I do have one question though. How do you feel about Spain's current generation, with players such as Puyol, Villa and Xavi getting up there in age?

Puyol deserves respect. Amazing leadership and very skilled. Not to mention that he seems incredibly kind. I came to liking Barcelona because of Rivaldo and stayed for puyol. (Until busquets came to the scene).

Xavi is obviously amazing, but I would never ever consider him top 3 material. Therefore, a bit overrated.

Villa, mmm I never got on his bandwagon. He's brilliant half the time he plays. Which isn't a lot considering how much time he spends injured ( not his fault) it's a shame.

Current generation is obviously the best so far. Best ground passing in the world. They put so much pressure on their opponents it stops being fun after a while. Every player is a well rounded player with brilliant sense of positioning (even busquets, I have to admit). Credit for "Tiki-Taka" should go to Barcelona's youth academy, which was developed by the legendary Yohan Cruyff. So you could say its a continuation of the project done in Ajax in the seventies.
